Inhomogeneous current and temperature distributions are harmful to the durability of the solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC). Segmented SOEC experiments reveal that a high steam utilization, which is favorable for system efficiency, leads to local steam starvation and enhanced the inhomogeneity. It is necessary to consider inhomogeneity and efficiency jointly in optimization studies. Three-dimensional (3D) multiphysics models validated with experiments can simulate the inhomogeneity in a reliable manner, but they are unsuitable for optimization due to the high computational cost. This study proposes a method that combines segmented SOEC experiments, multiphysics simulation, and artificial intelligence to optimize the inhomogeneity and efficiency of SOEC jointly. A 3D cell model is first built and verified by segmented SOEC experiments. Then, fast neural network surrogate models are built from the simulation data and integrated into a multi-objective optimization problem. Its solutions form a Pareto front reflecting the conflicting relationships among different objectives. It is found that the down-stream current is 60%-65% of the up-stream current when the steam utilization is 0.7. To increase the steam utilization to 0.8, the down-stream current will further drop to 50%-60% of the up-stream current. The Pareto fronts enable system operators to achieve a balance between efficiency and inhomogeneity. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As an important power equipment in the power system, the electrialc motor is an important part of the transformation of electric energy and mechanical energy. Reasonable prediction of the reliability level of the running motor, timely and effectively avoid the operational risks, can effectively ensure the safety and stable operation of the power system. This paper starts with the motor vibration signal and establishes the remaining life prediction based on SVM(Support Vector Machine). Firstly, the vibration signal is denoised by wavelet transform, and the characteristic parameters such as mean square value is extracted after signal data reconstruction. Further, combined with the characteristic value, the working state is divided, and the support vector machine regression prediction model is used to obtain the remaining life of the bearing. In the case study part, data denoising and feature extraction are performed on the bearing vibration data measured by the PRONOSTIA test bench. The trend of the selected characteristic values is used for evaluating the motor operating state. The characteristic value, running state of the equipment, and remaining life which are extracted from the training set data are input to the SVM, and then the SVM is used to predict the remaining life for the test set. Finally, failure rate of the equipment can be derived. © 2019 by International Academic Publishers Ltd.

Gas-to-liquid (GTL) transformer oil has been on trial in converter transformers. However, its influence on the space charge characteristic is not clear. This work aims at exploring space charge characteristics of GTL oil at different temperatures as well as comparing with commercial naphthenic oil (KI50X). Space charge distribution during the polarization and the dissipation process in the GTL oil-impregnated paper at different temperature was measured by the pulse electroacoustic method (PEA), which were contrasted with those of the KI50X oil-impregnated paper. Results illustrated that high temperature accelerated the injection and migration of charge carriers in the oil-impregnated paper. And the polarity of the accumulated charge in the vicinity of anode changed from positive to negative with the increase of temperature. It was perceived that oil-paper conductivity and carrier mobility grew with the increase of temperature, resulting in the easier migration of injected charge to another electrode. Furthermore, the space charge dissipation rate in the GTL oil-impregnated paper is lower than that in the naphthenic oil-impregnated paper at the same temperature. Thus, a longer time interval of tests or switch operation in the factory test and operation process may need if GTL oil is used rather than naphthenic oil.

Attention to efficient and cost-effective utilize of energy has become a common view in the energy sector. A variety of microgrid energy management systems are developed and installed to achieve the goal. However, the performance of the microgrid energy management system depends on some factors, such as forecast uncertainty, measurement error, and so forth. Among them, a series of handling technologies for the forecast uncertainty are the focus in this paper. It includes accuracy improvement of prediction program based on time series method, operation strategy adoption, real-time control scheme for the energy storage equipment, and proposes a robust rule to against the extreme situation as well. This not only achieves effective energy management, but also helps to avoid operation cost increasing induced by the transaction bias assessment through the improvement of energy scheduling accuracy. The effectiveness and validity of these means is verified in the constructed campus microgrids at Chonnam National University.

High share of renewable energy will be one of the basic features of power systems in the future around the world. Compared with photovoltaic (PV) and wind power, concentrating solar power (CSP) equipped with heat storage system has similar regulation characteristics with thermal power units, and it can effectively overcome the intermittent and volatility of PV and wind power generation. Meanwhile, the CSP units can strongly support the voltage, frequency and short-circuit capacity of power systems. So, CSP is a very promising power generation technology for the future power system. The CSP unit has better ramp ability than thermal power unit, and can generally reach a speed between 2% and 5% of rated power per minute. stated thus, the CSP unit has a good potential to participate in the primary frequency regulation of power grid. At present, there are many researches on the performance of each subsystem of the CSP unit in worldwide, and there are also some theoretical researches on the participation of CSP unit in the dispatching operation of power system. However, there is a lack of research reports on CSP plant's participation in the primary frequency regulation of the power grid, which is an urgently needed feature for the future power systems with high share of renewable energy. In this paper, a model with primary frequency regulation ability of CSP unit is established in DIgSILENT powerFactory software. A revised two-area four-machine system is used to investigate the CSP unit's participation in primary frequency regulation of power system. The simulation results show the good frequency regulation performance of CSP unit, which can effectively support the stable operation of power system with high share of renewable energy in the future. © 2021 IEEE.

The physicochemical properties and creepage discharge characteristics of aged high temperature Vulca nized(HTV)silicone rubber materials were investigated by ultraviolet radiati on(UV)aging method in this *** experimental results show that as the aging time increases,the creepage discharge flashover voltage increases first and then *** the aging time has little effect on the creepage discharge inception *** the aging time prolonged,the discharge endurance time of HTV silicone rubber is shortened,and the creepage discharge development velocity is *** the short time of applying voltage to aging material,the magnitude of discharge in creases *** to the partial discharge characteristic parameters of creepage discharge,the whole creepage discharge process is partitioned into four *** with unaged HTV silicone rubber,the aged HTV silicone rubber has less fluctuation in performance parameters and a clear *** study found that UV aging not only affects the physicochemical and hydrophobic properties of the HTV silicone rubber,but also accelerates the development of creepage discharge under AC voltage.

Cleanliness of energy system requires both NO x reduction due to urgent air pollution control and CO 2 cutting due to long-term climate change pressure. In the urban heating sector, quick-win plans use to be popular that focus on the NO x reduction by replacing untreated scattered coal fired boilers to natural gas or combined heat and power generators (CHPs). Meanwhile, in the electrical sector, all these fossil fuel generators should be cut down in the long-term decarbonization process. There should be a need for coordination of short- and long-term targets, because two energy supply sectors are believed to work in a coupled way in the future. A three-layered collaborative planning model is proposed in this paper: the top layer focuses roadmap economic evaluation; the middle layer applies coupled production simulation aiming at verifying energy balance; and the bottom one checks real-time operational feasibility. Pathways are made from 2020 to 2040 based on Hebei, China. Results indicate that the pathway with quick win will have delayed construction of renewable power, resulting the slow process in emission control. The long-term strategy scheme greatly promotes the renewables for supply in both sectors, but the close operational link forces the decoupling, leading to rebound on emission and operation cost on decentralized heating for the long-term future. In conclusion, the tradeoff pathway, reducing CO 2 emission as much as possible with NO x emission controlled to acceptable level, is recommended with good performance on emission control and economy.

With the trend of electricity market deregulation for recent decades, the consumers at demand-side are progressively encouraged to trade the power in competitive market environment. Conventionally, only large-scale consumers participate directly in the wholesale market that adopts spot energy pricing. Most small-scale consumers are involved in the retail market that offers non-varying tariff predefined by retailers or utility companies. In this work, we investigate a framework of coordinated wholesale and retail market structure that enables consumers in the retail market to reflect the spot price and improve the power system flexibility for the high penetration of renewables. Then, market behaviors of demand-side participants with the proposed market mechanism and some related business models are discussed. The following participation modes for consumers could be opted including: direct trade, trade agented by retailers or organized in virtual power plant (VPP). For a pool-based trade at demand-side, a bi-level market clearing mechanism at transmission and distribution levels is explained. This mechanism seeks to optimize the global demand profile for hosting renewables while solving the operating constraint of loads and local networks. This study can offer constructive advises to promote further development of China's electricity market. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper studies the dynamic operation of a residential electric energy system with distributed renewable *** streams among the power grid, local renewable plant, storage unit, and demand are considered;the temporal volatility of renewable generation is described by an uncertainty set, and the optimal operation problem gives rise to a multi-stage robust optimization. To deal with the non-anticipativity issue, the robust model is solved via robust dual dynamic programming（RDDP）approach. The the cost-to-go function is approximated by iteratively updating the upper and lower bounds, which can be obtained from forward-pass and backward pass procedures. Case studies validate the performance and advantage of the proposed method.

Uncertainty is not negligible in power systems, it affects the generation, transmission and utilization of electricity. Especially in electricity markets, the randomness and variability of generation or load will cause notable forecast errors and lead to economic losses of market participants. Due to the data explosion in recent few years, data have gradually become valuable information that can be mined, analyzed, and applied. Meanwhile, the utility that more abundant and accurate information could eliminate uncertainty is emerging. In this paper, solar power plants (SPPs) are selected as the object, the general mechanism in electricity markets is briefly introduced and the corresponding market optimization model is constructed. With the optimization model analytically solved, the impact of uncertainty is analyzed and the expressions of information value are derived. Besides, uniform, normal, logistic, and Laplace distribution are used in the evaluation of information value and compared. Finally, the case study is conducted to verify the theoretical results of information value and illustrate its significance.
