Static DC and PR are typical operation conditions of HVDC converter transformer bushing outlet device, moreover, the electrical parameters of RIP, transformer oil and OIP have the nonlinear relationship with E-field stress and temperature. Under the temperature gradient, the electrical parameters will modify the static DC and PR E-field distribution of the composite insulation. In order to simulate static DC and PR electric field of the composite insulation structure, this paper established the full model of the converter transformer outlet. Then, the structure parameters of converter transformer outlet have been optimized using combined RBF neural network and NSGA-II algorithm. Moreover, electric field verification calculation has been carried out under AC and PR conditions. The results show that under uniform temperature condition, E-field strength is larger than that under iso-thermal condition. The overshoot coefficient of the bushing end and barrier reach 65% and 45%, respectively. The study can provide reference for the design of outlet structure of the converter transformer. © 2023 IEEE.

The fast and accurate state evaluation of cable plays an important role in the safe and reliable operation of power system. Thus a high-voltage cables condition evaluation model based on siamese-attention bidirectional long short-term memory (SA-BiLSTM) is proposed in this paper. First, the attention mechanism was used to optimize the BiLSTM network, which can complete parallel training while obtaining global information. then the optimized network was adopted to build a siamese neural network framework, realizing data classification by calculating the Euclidean distance between feature vectors. Finally, the model was trained and tested through the online monitoring data of high-voltage cables from engineering. The results showed that the accuracy rate, precision, recall rate, F1 score and Matthews correlation coefficient of the SA-BiLSTM model was increased at least by 7.92%, 11.79%, 11.41%, 12.04%, and 20.90%, respectively, compared with other models. © 2023 IEEE.

Long-term operation and switching of transformer on-load tap-changers can cause degradation and deterioration of the main contact material, even leading to contact arcing damage in severe cases. However, the arcing mechanism of the main contact during the switching has not been clarified yet. A magneto-hydrodynamic simulation method of main contact arcing has been proposed. The geometry of the main contact in transformer oil is simplified, and the simulation model of the arc temperature field of the main contact in transformer oil coupled with electric, magnetic, thermal and fluid fields is proposed. The dynamic evolution of the arc temperature has been investigated at peak currents of 2100 A, 1500 A, 600 A and 300 A, respectively. The results show that with the increase of the spacing between contacts, the temperature at arc core rises rapidly and then decreases slowly, and the temperature can reach 50177 K at 2100A. Due to the electron bombardment at the anode surface, the temperature at anode surface is higher than that at cathode surface under different chopped currents. The highest temperatures at anode and cathode surface can reach 4142.5 K and 4081.7 K respectively. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd 2024.

The interaction between various energy supply systems (cold, heat, electricity, gas, etc.) is becoming more tightly coupled as social economy and technology advance. Multi-energy systems are ineffective because different types of energy systems run independently. In order to protect the data privacy of each sub-system, this research suggests an ideal resource management framework for a multi-energy group control system. The energy hub (EH) paradigm is first suggested. When deploying EHs, the physical constraints of various energy systems are taken into account. Through scenario-based stochastic programming, the uncertainties of renewable energy are considered. According to the leader-follower relationship between multi-energy group control system operators and energy hub operators (EHOs), Benders decomposition is applied to decentralize the decision-making process. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

To protect the environment and lower carbon dioxide emissions, conventional fossil-fuel generators tend to be replaced by renewable generation. The volatile and uncertain renewable generation, as well as the reduced proportion of conventional fossil-fuel generators, causes challenges for power systems in terms of peak shaving. The equipment of energy storage is an important solution for the challenges. This paper proposes a distributionally robust method that coordinatedly plans renewable generation, transmission, and energy storage, minimizing the sum of investment and operation costs including carbon taxes. The operation cost is the optimal value of an operation optimization problem. Wasserstein-metric-based ambiguity set is established to deal with the possible inexactness of the empirical distribution of renewable generation and load uncertainties, based on which the worst-case expectation of operation cost is formulated. By calculating the Lipschitz constant of the operation cost function, the planning model comes down to mixed-integer linear programming. The case study in the IEEE 30-bus system demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 Owner/Author.

In operation, the negative temperature coefficient (NTC) electrical resistivity characteristics of polymeric insulating materials causes DC electric field distortion within power equipment insulation and lead to the failure. The doping of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) ceramic particles can suppress the NTC characteristics of the composites, but the electrical properties under AC voltages are unrevealed. In this paper, epoxy composites (0–20 wt%) doped with polydopamine-coated PTC particles were prepared, whose AC breakdown strength and dielectric properties were tested. The results shows that the decrease of AC dielectric strength is smaller than that under DC voltages after the doping PTC particles, and the coating of polydopamine can enhance the AC dielectric strength. As the doping content increases, the dielectric constant and tanδ of the epoxy composites increases, and the maximum increase of dielectric loss power is about 2% of the loss power caused by the current-carrying conductor. The research provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of the insulating performance of the equipment under the AC-DC composite voltages. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd 2024.

In various applications of alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) for hydrogen production, the efficiency of AWE stacks is a critical concern. Emerging applications involve significant dynamic operations, necessitating the evaluation of their impact on stack efficiency. However, a quantitative understanding of the power losses within AWE stacks under dynamic conditions remains limited. A significant research challenge exists in the development of models for AWE stacks that can accommodate dynamic operating conditions, and there is a need for a systematic approach to classify and quantify energy losses within the stack. This paper presents a quantitative assessment method for losses in AWE stacks based on a semi-empirical equivalent circuit model (SECM). The losses within the AWE stack are categorized into four types based on their generation mechanisms: overpotential losses, shunt current losses, non-Faradaic losses, and electrochemical cycling losses (cycling losses for short). Using experimental data from 5 MW and 10 kW AWE stacks, the parameters of the SECM observer are identified through a stepwise data-driven approach, resulting in a mean square error of less than 46.4 mV for 5 MW stack and 80.9 mV for 10 kW stack. The constructed SECM observer is employed to simulate the proportion of various losses under different dynamic operating conditions. This paper focuses on the efficiency and loss behaviors of AWE stacks under multi-stack switching strategies. Case studies demonstrate that the current range, ramp rate, regulation period, and duty cycle significantly influence the four types of losses. Based on the SECM observer, recommended parameters for multi-stack switching are provided. This work contributes to accurate assessment of AWE stack efficiency under dynamic operations and provides a methodology for designing AWE stack operating strategies. © 2025 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC

Enhancing the electrical performance of silicone rubber (SiR) for cable accessories is noteworthy as they are almost the weakest parts of the cable system. Two types of voltage stabilizers were grafted onto the surface of nano-zirconia (ZrO2) particles, and the grafted nanoparticles were added to the SiR. Measurements such as breakdown strength, and conductivity were carried out to evaluate the electrical performance of SiR nanocomposites. The electrical performance measurement results indicated that the breakdown strength of the nanocomposite SiR improved while the conductance current was reduced. The trap distribution showed that the improvement of the electrical performance of the nanocomposite SiR is mainly due to the decrease of the shallow trap density or the increase of the deep trap density. © 2023 IEEE.

Along with the power fluctuation and other problems caused by large-scale grid connection of renewable energy, electrochemical energy storage has been widely concerned by researchers. Firstly, the technical characteristics and application scenarios of important electrochemical energy storage are summarized in this paper. Then the analysis focus on the evaluation indexes of the economic and social benefits of electrochemical energy storage on the generation side, grid side and user side. Finally, in order to adapt to the landing of carbon peaking and carbon neutral targets, and combined with the implementation of time-sharing tariffs, energy storage planning problems that need further in-depth research are proposed in view of the shortcomings in existing energy storage planning studies, which are of great significance for improving the adaptability of subsequent energy storage planning studies. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to reduce the randomness and fluctuation of wind power, numerical weather prediction is usually used to forecast power generation. Due to the redundancy of numerical weather prediction factors, dimensionality reduction is carried out to improve the effectiveness of data processing and reduce the complexity of algorithm. In this paper, the multicollinearity diagnosis is carried out to show the existence of multicollinearity among numerical weather prediction variables. The ridge regression method is adopted to screen variables, so as to reduce the dimension of numerical weather prediction data, which are trained later by back propagation neural network or convolutional neural network to fit corresponding power data. In comparison with results using training data without preprocessing, dimensionality reduction can improve predicting effect in most cases and reduce the error caused by improper selection of neural network. © 2022 IEEE.
