The uncertainty caused by stochastic time delay of network communication increases the difficulty of wide-area control performance analysis. This paper proposes a mathematical expectation modeling approach to model and analyze wide-area controlled powersystems considering the effect of stochastic time delay. In the proposed method, mathematical expectation of stochastic time delay distribution is derived to accurately model the impact of communication network on wide-area control performance. The theoretical frame of the proposed modeling approach is presented and the effectiveness of the method is verified through the simulation of a power system with 8 generators and 36 nodes.

Stochastic time delay is a new challenge brought out by communication network in wide-area damping control system. Uncertainty introduced by stochastic time delay increases the difficulty of modeling and stability analysis. In this paper, a new approach of stability analysis through expectation model is proposed to solve the problem of uncertainty in wide-area controlled powersystems considering the effect of stochastic time delay. In the proposed method, expectation model considering detailed stochastic time delay distribution is derived to accurately model the impact of communication network on wide-area control performance. Then, through matrix transformation of expectation model, eigenvalue of wide-area damping control system considering time delay can be calculated, which can be used for analyzing the system stability. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is verified through the simulation of a power system with 8 generators and 36 nodes with different types of time delay distribution.

The framework of an automatic discovery system for critical flowgates and security operation rules in the power grid is designed. Based on the real-time operation data of the power grid, the system is able to automatically find the critical flowgates adapted to the online operation state of the grid. By using the automatic learning method, the system can find the fine rules of critical flowgates as the security operation knowledge of the grid. The functions of the core modules of the system are described, including online automatic discovery of critical flowgates, online calculation of limit transmission capacity of critical flowgates, online generation of mass simulation samples, feature selection, automatic discovery of security operation rules of the power grid. The online application of the system has been realized in Guangdong power grid. The application effect shows that the system is able to generate the security operation knowledge fast enough and refresh it every 15 minutes for online application as required. Meanwhile, the knowledge is capable of not only covering the existing security operation knowledge formulated by experts offline, but also finding new knowledge adapted to the online power grid operation mode, while improving the power grid security and economy.

The development of smart grid has posed a challenge to the traditional centralized dispatch mode. The basic contradiction between distributed autonomy and centralized coordination is reexamined, and an architecture of smart substation advanced application software system is proposed, including such advanced applications as modeling, state estimation, intelligent alarming, voltage stability assessment and control, automatic voltage control, risk assessment modeling, etc. This facilitates a change from centralized dispatch and control mode to a more reliable, agile substation-control center two-level distributed smart dispatch and control mode. The features, functions and realization of the proposed advanced application software are described, some field engineering application cases demonstrated, and certain practical aspects of implementation discussed. This paper presents a novel beam flexure-based XY positioning stage with an axial force balanced design of double parallelogram decoupling modules. By mean of connecting two decoupling modules along the same actuation axis, the axial forces are evenly applied to each side of the motion stage. Therefore the in-plane rotation can be significantly restricted. Also a redundant constraint is proposed to the guidance module to restrict its rotational motions. The monolithical fabrication of the spatial configuration of the proposed mechanism can be resorted to additive manufactured technology. Numerical simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed XY positioning stage.
