Impedance method and single terminal travelling wave method are analyzed in paper, applicable scope of optimized solution is presented. Impedance method is of high robustness but low accuracy. Single terminal travelling wave method offers high accuracy but poor robustness. Optimized solution combines these two methods together, takes advantages of both methods. It is a great enhancement to single terminal fault location. This paper analyzed theoretical basis of optimized solution, proposed the calculation algorithm of fault location range using impedance method. Analyses of impedance method and single terminal travelling wave method show that the optimized solution is suitable for engineering application. Error analysis is proved correct by simulation. © 2011 IEEE.

Rule Extraction in Transient Stability Study Using Linear Decision Trees

Traditional operation rules depend on human experience, which are relatively fixed and difficult to fulfill the new demand of the modern power grid. In order to formulate suitable and quickly refreshed operation rules, a method of linear decision tree based on support samples is proposed for rule extraction in this paper. The operation rules extracted by this method have advantages of refinement and intelligence, which helps the dispatching center meet the requirement of smart grid construction.

Uncertainty is not negligible in power systems, it affects the generation, transmission and utilization of electricity. Especially in electricity markets, the randomness and variability of generation or load will cause notable forecast errors and lead to economic losses of market participants. Due to the data explosion in recent few years, data have gradually become valuable information that can be mined, analyzed, and applied. Meanwhile, the utility that more abundant and accurate information could eliminate uncertainty is emerging. In this paper, solar power plants (SPPs) are selected as the object, the general mechanism in electricity markets is briefly introduced and the corresponding market optimization model is constructed. With the optimization model analytically solved, the impact of uncertainty is analyzed and the expressions of information value are derived. Besides, uniform, normal, logistic, and Laplace distribution are used in the evaluation of information value and compared. Finally, the case study is conducted to verify the theoretical results of information value and illustrate its significance. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, the reliability of the rolling bearing fault feature extraction based on casing vibration signals is discussed. Through the fault simulation experiment of rolling bearing, the vibration data of the outer ring fault, inner ring fault and rolling element fault, which respectively comes from bearing block measuring point and casing measuring point, is acquired. Then this paper analyzed the data from the time domain, frequency domain and amplitude domain. Analysis results show that, compared to the bearing block measuring points, due to the attenuation of the pulse signal of the fault in the transmission way and the increase of signal to noise on the casing, the fault features of casing vibration signals are significantly weakened. The envelope demodulation, FFT change on the vibration signal of casing directly cannot extract the fault characteristics. However the fault characteristic frequency can be extracted from the appropriate resonance frequency band. The results provide a reference for the fault feature extraction of rolling bearing based on the signal of casing. © 2016, Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology. All rights reserved.

IPS has many special characteristics, such as using multi-phase, multi-frequency and hybrid AC/DC devices. As a result, existing electromagnetic transient simulators developed for power systems on land do not apply to IPS. This paper aims to build up a parallel based real-time electromagnetic transient simulator for IPS. A fast multi-switching process method for parallel electromagnetic transient simulations is coined to handle the tremendous switch events in IPS. To solve the difficulties brought by multi-phase machines in IPS, a multilevel hybrid parallel algorithm is forged through the combination of component level and network level parallelization. Based on the key techniques mentioned above, a parallel simulator is built up. Through sufficient testing to typical examples of IPS, the accuracy and high-efficiency of the simulator are proved. © 2011 IEEE.

A cooperative game theory based multi-objective reactive voltage optimization model and its solution

To coordinately consider the economy and security of the system during reactive voltage control, a multi-objective reactive power optimization model is proposed. Apart from the conventional economic objective, the new model has the system static security added to the multi-objective to seek their optimization simultaneously. And the solution for the model is proposed based on the cooperative game theory. As two players of the game, the economy side and the security side decide on their game strategies alternately until equilibrium is attained. Tests on a 2-bus system and IEEE 9-bus system demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of the model along with the proposed method. © 2012 state Grid Electric power Research Institute Press.

Lightning overvoltage protection is of great importance to the safety of devices in UHV GIS. In practice, insulation failure of UHV transformer due to lightning strike is often reported. The widely used UHV metal-oxide arresters can suppress the magnitude of lightning overvoltage but lack effectiveness on alleviating the steepness. A new protection method is proposed in this paper using ferromagnetic ring as supplement to the arresters in suppressing lightning overvoltage within UHV GIS. Moreover, equivalent model based on the characteristic of ferromagnetic material and factual dimensions of the ring is established. simulation of an actual 1000 kV GIS is carried out to thoroughly evaluate the lightning overvoltage suppressing effect of ferromagnetic rings with different materials and structure parameters. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. By using theoretical and experimental methods, dynamic characteristics of turbine blades with integral shrouds are studied, and the mechanism of vibro-impact and the effective factors of integrally shrouded blades are mainly presented. By means of finite element calculation, the dynamic frequencies and vibration mode shapes of single shrouded blade are explored under different rotating speeds. The three-dimensional entity unit integral dynamics equation of blades with vibro-impact are established by using nonlinear damping model in this paper. With the help of 3D software Solidworks, the solid model of blade is built. With the aid of FEA software ANSYS, the dynamics and static characteristics of single blade are obtained. Meanwhile, by building the model to set different shroud clearance and exciting force amplitude, the relationships between displacement of blade tip and influence of such as blade shroud clearance and exciting force amplitude are demonstrated. The results of the analysis indicate that the collision structural is an ideal damping structure. As the clearance between blade shrouds is smaller, the damping effect is better. Moreover, results show that blades adopting collision damping mechanism can achieve good damping effect when the blades are subjected to greater exciting force.
