Organic peroxides, due to temperature manipulation failure and/or manner disturbances, had been probable to lead to the prevalence of runaway phenomena, even fire, and explosion. Cumene hydroperoxide (CHP), is a traditional liquid organic peroxide for industrial purposes and is applied as a free radical initiator for polymerization reactions in the petrochemical industry. Its utilization in the industrial processes had certain potential safety hazards. In this work, linearly ramped thermal decomposition in CHP was performed using differential scanning calorimetry under a nitrogen atmosphere. Kinetic analysis is made using data from the ramped measurements with two integral strategies (Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose). The gaseous products of thermal decomposition in CHP are investigated via thermal gravimetric evaluation coupled with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Combined with the experimental results, the possible decomposition path of CHP is discussed. This makes up the gap of unclear decomposition mechanism of CHP in inert atmosphere, and has important reference significance for its industrial production and application. © 2023

Aerogel is known as super insulation materials and has already been applied to manufacture thermal protection parts of aerospace equipment. Terahertz (THz) wave has good penetration to non-metallic and non-polar materials. To explore its potential in aerogel defect detection, the absorption coefficient and refractive index of aerogel were studied. As a result, the absorption spectrum of aerogel has not obvious absorption peak, and THz wave has great penetration for aerogel. Additionally, two aerogel samples with different sizes of defects were imaged with two time domain parameters (pulse peak and pulse valley) and two frequency domain parameters (absorption coefficient and refractive index). The study is of key importance for THz wave in nondestructive testing for aerogel, offering a rapid and non-destructive detection method for aerogel defects.

This paper concerns the stability of switched systems orchestrating between unstable modes. First, a mode partition is applied to select stabilizing switching from the switching between modes from different subsets. Second, a piecewise Lyapunov-like function is applied to decline at stabilizing switching times. Then, the stability criteria build on mode-partition-dependent average dwell time by collecting enough stabilizing switching behavior to stabilize the destabilizing switching behavior and unstable modes. Finally, the simulation verification shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the method. © 2022 The Franklin Institute

Displacement is a critical indicator for mechanical systems and civil *** vision-based displacement recognition methods mainly focus on the sparse identification of limited measurement points,and the motion representation of an entire structure is very *** study proposes a novel Nodes2STRNet for structural dense displacement recognition using a handful of structural control nodes based on a deformable structural three-dimensional mesh model,which consists of control node estimation subnetwork(NodesEstimate)and pose parameter recognition subnetwork(Nodes2PoseNet).NodesEstimate calculates the dense optical flow field based on FlowNet 2.0 and generates structural control node ***2PoseNet uses structural control node coordinates as input and regresses structural pose parameters by a multilayer perceptron.A self-supervised learning strategy is designed with a mean square error loss and L2 regularization to train *** effectiveness and accuracy of dense displacement recognition and robustness to light condition variations are validated by seismic shaking table tests of a four-story-building *** studies with image-segmentation-based Structure-PoseNet show that the proposed Nodes2STRNet can achieve higher accuracy and better robustness against light condition *** addition,NodesEstimate does not require retraining when faced with new scenarios,and Nodes2PoseNet has high self-supervised training efficiency with only a few control nodes instead of fully supervised pixel-level segmentation.

A lab-on-a-chip (LOC) thermal mass flow sensor based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology is designed, fabricated, and characterized. Vanadium dioxide (VO2), a nonlinear phase-change material with 3-order of change in resistance is placed in the down streaming direction of the heat source as the sensing element. The resistance of VO2 is monitored under gas flow rates ranging from 0 to 37.8 μL·s-1 with a maximum sensitivity of 368.56 ppm/(μL·min-1). The studies presented in this research may enable the application of utilizing nonlinear metamaterial in microfluidic LOC sensors with orders of magnitude improvement in sensitivity. © 2022 MicroTAS 2022 - 26th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life sciences. Recently, there is growing research interest in extracting Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) features from images and LiDAR to improve 3D object detection. However, existing methods mainly combine the features mechanically, which limits the utilization of BEV features. To address this limitation, we draw inspiration from TransFusion and design a two-layer transformer decoder to fuse LiDAR and camera BEV features. By doing so, we can omit the steps of reference point backprojection and feature sampling, which results in better correlation between the fused LiDAR and image features and higher robustness to the calibration matrix. Furthermore, we add 3D position encoding to the BEV features to compensate for the lack of height information. We also propose an length-width-height modulated attention mechanism to incorporate scale information. We also perform comprehensive experiments to verify the effectiveness of our methods. © 2023 IEEE.

There are four reactor coolant loops in reactor coolant system in a GEN-III nuclear power plant and each loop has a reactor coolant pump in nuclear island. The four reactor coolant pumps are in operation during power conditions. In order to improve plant availability and reduce the impact to electric grid, the plant allows losing one reactor coolant loop during power conditions and continue to generate power to the grid. Losing one reactor coolant loop function is a new design which has not been verified by practice, so the Losing one reactor coolant loop test have very high systemic risks and may even cause equipment *** the defect diagnosis for Losing one reactor coolant loop function should be carried out in advance before doing the test. A distributed fault-tolerant formation control law is designed in this paper for multi-agent systems under external disturbances and actuator faults including time-varying loss of effectiveness faults. The initial position of each agent is already on a circle and the control purpose is to form a desired formation on this circle. Based on this local information, a distributed adaptive formation control law is designed by employing the congelation of variables method to deal with time-varying actuator faults.
