Active RFID is a popular technology in online measurement, remote monitoring, wireless tracking, fleet management etc. The communication algorithms widely used are based on a random access algorithm ALOHA, with which the data packets are transmitted in a random delay when collisions happen. However, collisions in ALOHA based algorithms are severe in dense active systems. In this paper, we propose a Master-Salve Dual Readers (MSDR) anti-collision mechanism. Multiple experiments were performed to identify multiple active tags within a reader's interrogation range. Compared with the parallel dual readers (PPDR) mechanism and the single reader mechanism, the proposed MSDR reduces the rate of packets loss significantly.

Sampling period is an important parameter with aspect influence in digital control system. In this paper, based on a multi-input -multi-output system and the method of dynamic matrix predictive control, a model of multi-rate output was established;Using genetic algorithm to realize the optimization of sampling period, and the simulation for a speed-coupling system indicated that, when the sampling-period are selected properly, the stability and system performance with multi-rate output system are better than other output periods.

Recent development in complex network theory has boosted the exploration of topological properties of various natural and man-made complex systems. Refinery system is a typical complex system in process industry. However, only plant at equipment level has been studied by the complex network theory. This article treats the whole refinery system at plant level as a network. Study illustrates that the refinery network is a small-world network with heterogeneous distributions of node degree and betweenness centrality. The robustness of the refinery network under different attack strategies is evaluated by efficiency of network performance. Vulnerability study demonstrates the different importance of vertices in keeping the network structural efficiency. This study provides a good example to explain the structure-activity relationship in process industry.

ZrB2 (zirconium diboride)-based ceramics reinforced by 15vol.% SiC whiskers with high density were successfully prepared using MoSi2 as sintering aids. The effects of sintering condition and MoSi2 content on densification behavior, phase composition, and mechanical properties of SiCw/ZrB2 composites were studied. Nearly, fully dense materials (relative density > 99%) were obtained by hot-pressing (HP) at 1700℃-1800℃ in flow argon atmosphere. The grain size of ZrB2 phase in the samples sintered by HP at 1700℃-1800℃ were very fine, with mean size below 5 μm. Mechanical properties (such as flexural strength, fracture toughness, and Vickers hardness) of the sintered samples were measured. The sample with 15vol.% MoSi2 addition sintered by HP at 1750℃ displayed the best mechanical properties.
