The design scheme and related implement of a DALI (digital addressable lighting interface) lighting system which is more practical and efficient are described. With a view to the shortcoming of current application of DALI solutions, this paper discusses the design procedure which realizes the DALI communication based on ATMEGA8L and sets the lamps addresses from user setting in the slave unit itself, and takes advantages of the three-state mechanism of system, which consists of controller unit state, implementation state and target object state. Finally, three different sensor network solutions based on DALI system are proposed and compared in this paper.

This paper proposed a new method of real-time information monitoring and filtering for mobile short messaging service (SMS) system. This method implements the mobile SMS real-time monitoring and filtering by combining the Pinyin fuzzed keyword matching technology with dynamical adjustment of the userspsila credit-grade. This method firstly classifies the SMS into three categories: legal SMS, doubtful SMS and junk SMS, then creates the keyword dictionary by Bayesian learning and runs parallel real-time filtering on polynuclear hardware platform. It enhances the junk message interception rate and the processing speed of short message service center (SMSC), reduces the misjudgment rate for the monitoring center, and meanwhile gives consideration to interests of both the operators and customers.

Liquid state Machine (LSM) is a newly developed computational model with many interesting properties. It has great advantages of dealing with biologic computing when compared to the traditional computational model. In this paper, the LSM was used to deal with the direction classification problem of the spike series which were distilled from the neurons in motor cortex of a monkey. In the output layer, a linear regression and back-propagation are employed as the training algorithms. Compare to outcomes of the two algorithms, it is showed that ideal classification results were derived when using BP as the training algorithm.

Although linear principal component analysis (PCA) originates from the work of Sylvester [67] and Pearson [51], the development of nonlinear counterparts has only received attention from the 1980s. Work on nonlinear PCA, or NLPCA, can be divided into the utilization of autoassociative neural networks, principal curves and manifolds, kernel approaches or the combination of these approaches. This article reviews existing algorithmic work, shows how a given data set can be examined to determine whether a conceptually more demanding NLPCA model is required and lists developments of NLPCA algorithms. Finally, the paper outlines problem areas and challenges that require future work to mature the NLPCA research field.

The principle of target tracking and data fusion techniques are discussed. To resolve high uncertainty that exists in sensors of mobile robots, one multi-sensor data fusion algorithm is presented. The algorithm is based on particle filter techniques, fuses the information coming from multiple sensors and merges different state space models. So it can be used to eliminate system and measurement noise and estimate value of position and headings of mobile robot. On simulation experiments, we compare different cases such as single sensors and multi-sensor data fusion, the results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this algorithm and exhibits good tracking performance.

A kind of output-feedback networked control system was addressed to overcome the defect of feedback lag introduced by the network usage in the networked control system. By introducing a plant model and a buffer into this system, when feedback was available, this system could compute the control output and update the plant model with the plant output, otherwise, compute the control output based on the plant model output instead of plant output. On the condition that the plant was SISO and the error between plant and model existed, the necessary and sufficient condition for closed-loop stability of this system was derived. Simulation indicates that the range of model error within which this system is stable is easy to be derived by using this necessary and sufficient condition.

Based on the capacitances obtained by 12-electrode ECT (Electrical Capacitance Tomography) system and the Least-Squares Support Vector Machine (LS-SVM) technique, a new method is proposed for the on-line voidage measurement of gas-oil two-phase flow. In practical voidage measurement process, the real-time flow pattern of the gas-oil two-phase flow is identified directly from 66 capacitances obtained by ECT system. Then, according to the flow pattern identification result, a suitable measurement model is selected and the voidage value is calculated. Research result shows the proposed method is effective. The voidage measurement result is flow pattern independent and the real-time performance is satisfactory. Meanwhile, compared with the conventional voidage measurement method based on ECT system, the proposed method can implement the voidage measurement without any image reconstruction process.

Determination of relative three-dimensional (3D) position, orientation, and relative motion between two reference frames is an important problem in robotic guidance, manipulation, and assembly as well as in other fields such as photogrammetry. A solution to pose and motion estimation problem that uses two-dimensional (2D) intensity images from a single camera is desirable for real-time applications. The difficulty in performing this measurement is that the process of projecting 3D object features to 2D images is a nonlinear transformation. In this paper, the 3D transformation is modeled as a nonlinear stochastic system with the state estimation providing six degrees-of-freedom motion and position values, using line features in image plane as measuring inputs and dual quaternion to represent both rotation and translation in a unified notation. A filtering method called the Gaussian particle filter (GPF) based on the panicle filtering concept is presented for 3D pose and motion estimation of a moving target from monocular image sequences. The method has been implemented with simulated data, and simulation results are provided along with comparisons to the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) to show the relative advantages of the GPF. Simulation results showed that GPF is a superior alternative to EKF and UKF.
