Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. These findings highlight that chronic care needs far exceed acute care needs globally, necessitating health systems to adapt accordingly. © 2025. The Author(s).

Frequency synthesizer plays an important role in frequency hopping communication system. In this paper, we derivate the conditions for a system to become the chaotic based on the phase model of phase-locked synthesizer. We found that the system parameter changing during the frequency switching is able to make the system to be chaotic. Based on the Cao's method [5], we find that the fractal dimension of the transient signals should be equal to or less than 4, which also provides the maximal positive Lyapunov exponent. In addition, the unique double-ring attractor of them is also reproduced through the phase reconstruction, which also implies that the frequency switching will result in a chaotic for Frequency-Hopping communication system. © 2014 IEEE.

According to the spectrum sensing problem under the short of collaborative users and low SNR, a cooperative sensing algorithm based on bistable stochastic resonance (BSR) is presented in this paper. First, decomposition and recombination (DAR) are adopted to increase the dimensions of matrix. Depending on the kind of decompositions, it can be divided into order-DAR and interval-DAR, which have a different influence on the correlation of signals. Then BSR is applied to spectrum sensing in order to enhance the detection performance since it can improve the SNR. Simulation shows that the performance of the proposed method is superior to that of existing cooperative sensing algorithm for the same probability of false alarm under low SNR.

The rank one NMF blind source separation algorithm (NMF-R1) was obtained by imposing the sparsity constraint on the fast NMF algorithm based rank one. NMF blind source separation algorithm based on least squares (NMF-LS) was obtained by using pseudo-inverse matrix. NMF-R1 algorithm was superior to the existing blind source separation algorithms based on NMF. NMF-LS algorithm had faster computation speed, but the result of decomposition was not unique. In order to further enhance the signals separated performance, crossover iteration between NMF-R1 and NMF-LS was used to getting the mixing matrix and the signal matrix, and the mixed NMF blind source separation algorithm (NMF-LR) was obtained. Simulation results show that the separation performance of NMF-LR algorithm is better than that of NMF-R1 and NMF-LS, and the computation complexity of NMF-LR algorithm is nearly the same as NMF-R1 algorithm. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

There have been considerable growth in awareness of Geographic information system (GIS) in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan (HKH) region, and there are initiatives underway for developing regional Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). Such infrastructures are being advocated to fulfill the gaps in data standards, data sharing protocols and software platform so that resources can be saved from duplications and societies can benefit from easy access to data. These initiatives include sharing of data such as basic geographic map, socio-economic data, environmental or disaster related data etc. These activities advance scientific discovery and help decision makers to tackle problems caused by global climate change, promote regional sustainable development and better the lives of people living in this region. However, harmonizing data at various levels and across different disciplines is challenging as these data platforms are usually heterogeneous and lack inter-connection. Activities of cross-border data sharing is not well implemented, its sharing practice requires unique technical standards and specific software platforms. China has growing interests to participate in data sharing activities in HKH region, an initiative was set up to conduct pilot researches to promote HKH region data sharing. One of the components of this initiative is to build a HKH region data sharing network (platform) in close collaboration with International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and other related agencies in the region. This paper mainly focuses on the technical aspect, study on the technical standards and software platform selection in the process of building the network. It reviews relating data sharing network across the world and in HKH region. The study believes that the emergence and maturity of open source software and service models reduced the difficulty in constructing platform for data sharing. This paper presents a new control strategy for three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) pulse width modulated (PWM) rectifier without power source voltage sensors. The relationship between instantaneous power and voltage vectors is derived mathematically. Virtual flux is estimated and used to calculate the phase of the power source voltage and instantaneous power. On these bases, a direct power control (DPC) scheme for three-level PWM rectifier is presented. An optimal switching table is established, vector switching scheme and balance strategy for the neutral point potential are discussed. Variable switching frequency and dynamic process of the startup are also analyzed. Experimental results have verified the theoretical approach and the three-level PWM rectifier with proposed DPC based on virtual flux exhibits several advantages, such as simple algorithm, low costs and excellent dynamic performance. © 2014 IEEE.

Aiming at despreading Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) signal blindly, the phase of Gold sequence is estimated firstly by utilizing the maximum value of the fourth-order cumulant slice of the product of WCDMA signal with the optimum m-sequences of different delays, and then the signal is descrambled. With the utilization of particular structure of OVSF codes, the signal is synchronized through the maximum value of cross-correlation function of signal's segments. By calculating the cross-correlation of each row of Hadamard matrix with the signal that has been descrambled and synchronized before, the OVSF code is obtained from the column of the matrix corresponding to the largest value of the cross-correlation function, and the signal is despread finally. Simulation results show the better performance of the proposed method in despreading WCDMA signals under the background of additive white Gaussian noise.
