With serious advertising budget constraints, advertisers have to adjust their daily budget according to the performance of advertisements in real time. Thus we can leave precious budgets to better opportunities in the future, and avoid the surge of ineffective clicks for unnecessary costs. However, advertisers usually have no sufficient knowledge and time for real-time advertising operations in search auctions. We formulate the budget adjustment problem as a state-action decision process in the reinforcement learning (RL) framework. Considering dynamics of marketing environments and some distinctive features of search auctions, we extend continuous reinforcement learning to fit the budget decision scenarios. The market utility is defined as discounted total clicks to get during the remaining period of an advertising schedule. We conduct experiments to validate and evaluate our strategy of budget adjustment with real world data from search advertising campaigns. Experimental results showed that our strategy outperforms the two other baseline strategies.

This paper is concerned with the controller design and the theoretical analysis for time-delay systems, a two degree of freedom (feedforward and feedback) control method is proposed, which combines advantages of the Smith predictor and the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). The feedforward part of controller is used to track the set point, the feedback part of controller (ADRC) is used to suppress interferences and the Smith predictor is used to correct time delay. The proposed control design is easy to tune parameters and has been proved to effectively control systems with large time delay. The bounded input bounded output (BIBO) stability of closed-loop system is verified. Finally, numerical simulations show the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed design.

Aiming at the problems containing complex working conditions, modeling difficulties and long-time delay of thermoelectric cooler temperature control system, an improved ADRC control method combining ADRC and Smith predictor is proposed in this paper. ADRC deals with the disturbances and uncertain dynamics in the system, SP compensates the time delay to improve the control performance. Compared with the traditional PID controller, the proposed control method has faster response speed and stronger anti-disturbance ability, meanwhile, overcomes the dependence of Smith predictor on object parameters to a certain extent. Through simulation and experimental verification, a good control effect is obtained, which provides a positive guidance of the related application of thermoelectric cooler.

In sequential recommender systems, the main problems are the long-tailed distribution of data and noise interference. A Contrastive Framework for Sequential Recommendation (CFSeRec) is proposed to solve these two problems respectively. Token shuffling and adversarial attack data augmentation methods are used in the framework to improve the quality and quantity of training data, so that the long-tailed problem is mitigated. Through the application of projection head method, the sequence representation becomes more general and robust, rather than just adapted to the task of contrastive learning. Therefore, the impact of noise on sequence recommender systems is effectively alleviated. Experiments on four public datasets show that CFSeRec achieves state-of-the-art performance in the metrics of hit ratio and normalized discounted cumulative gain, when comparing to the seven previous frameworks.

In order to improve the dynamic performance of the underdriven crane system, an improved linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) based on the new error was proposed. The improved LADRC takes the error value between the disturbance and its observed value multiplied by a coefficient as the basis for adjusting the linear extended state observer (LESO). The improved method has two advantages. Firstly, the new error can prevent the traditional LESO from choosing larger parameter adjustment disturbances, which will limit the performance of the observer. Secondly, the pole can be configured by adjusting the coefficient to obtain better dynamic characteristics. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiment. The proposed method can effectively restrain the swing of the payload and it is robust to system parameters perturbation as well.

Dynamic facial expression recognition (DFER) in the wild has received widespread attention recently. There are complex factors such as face occlusion and pose variation in the wild. Facial expression recognition has a subtle competition between capturing local features of a human face and obtaining a global feature representation. This paper proposes an end-to-end DFER network GAT-Net based on the grid attention module and Transformer, which improves the robustness and accuracy of DFER in the wild. Specifically, GAT-Net is divided into two components: spatial feature extraction and temporal feature processing. The grid attention module of the spatial feature extraction component guides the network to pay attention to the local salient features of the face, which reduces the interference of field occlusion and non-frontal poses. The Transformer in the temporal feature processing component guides the network to learn the temporal relationship of high-level semantic features and the global representation of facial expression features. These two components balance the subtle competition between local features and global feature representations of facial expressions. The ablation experiment has proved the effectiveness of the grid attention module and Transformer. Experiments demonstrate that our GAT-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods on DFEW and AFEW benchmarks with accuracies of 67.53%, and 50.14% respectively.

In this paper, we study two-player evolutionary prisoner's dilemma on regular graphs and identify the stochastically stable equilibria for infinite populations. We consider four different update rules: Birth-death(BD), death-birth(DB), imitation(IM) and pairwise comparison(PC). With the same values of cost and benefit of cooperation, we show that there is a unique stochastically stable equilibrium for evolutionary prisoner's dilemma on regular graphs. If the benefit-to-cost ratio is larger than k + 2 (k is the degree of a regular graph), the networked game has a higher fraction of cooperators than that for a well-mixed population. Under certain conditions, the lower graph connectivity can lead to the emergence of more cooperators. Besides theoretical analysis, we demonstrate our results through numerical computations and simulations as well. © 2018 IEEE.

The problem of reconstructing a sparse signal vector from magnitude-only measurements (a.k.a., compressive phase retrieval), emerges naturally in diverse applications, but it is NP-hard in general. Building on recent advances in nonconvex optimization, this paper puts forth a new algorithm that is termed compressive reweighted amplitude flow and abbreviated as CRAF, for compressive phase retrieval. Specifically, CRAF operates in two stages. The first stage seeks a sparse initial guess via a new spectral procedure. In the second stage, CRAF implements a few hard thresholding based iterations using reweighted gradients. When there are sufficient measurements, CRAF provably recovers the underlying signal vector exactly with high probability under suitable conditions. Moreover, its sample complexity coincides with that of the state-of-the-art procedures. Finally, substantial simulated tests showcase remarkable performance of the new spectral initialization, as well as improved exact recovery relative to competing alternatives. The study of resilient control of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is gaining popularity in emerging cyber-physical applications. In previous works, explicit system models are required to design a predictor-based resilient controller. These models can be either given a priori or obtained through a prior system identification step. Recent research efforts have focused on data-driven control based on pre-collected input-output trajectories (i.e., without explicit system models). In this paper, we take an initial step toward data-driven stabilization of stochastic LTI systems under DoS attacks, and develop a resilient model predictive control (MPC) scheme driven purely by data-dependent conditions. The proposed data-driven control method achieves the same level of resilience as the model-based control method. For example, local input-to-state stability (ISS) is achieved under mild assumptions on the noise and the DoS attacks. To recover global ISS, two modifications are further suggested at the price of reduced resilience against DoS attacks or increased computational complexity. With the aim of 2-AMT electric vehicles, a comprehensive shift schedule that considers both power and economy is proposed. First, the objective function of the comprehensive shift schedule is constructed, which is the weighted sum of vehicle acceleration time and vehicle power consumption per unit distance. Second, Sparrow Search Algorithm is used to solve the objective function and obtain the comprehensive shift schedule. Finally, AVL Cruise simulation software is used to simulate vehicle dynamics and economy under an NEDC. The results show that the comprehensive shift schedule is similar to the optimal power shift schedule in terms of dynamic performance, and the economy is optimized by 3%. The feasibility of the comprehensive shift schedule is verified.
