Micro-assembly is an emerging method to fabricate microrobots with multiple modules or particles. However, there is always a lack of a flexible and efficient method to freely create the desired magnetic soft microrobots. In this paper, an automated assembly system based on a two-fingered microhand is presented for fabricating magnetic soft microrobots. Our proposed system can automatically pick and place components to assemble microrobots with a two-fingered micromanipulator, and orient these components through an external magnetic field. The automated assembly has the advantages of high accuracy, high speed, and high success rate. It can endow magnetic microrobots with flexible material selection, arbitrary geometry design, and programable magnetization profile. We can make full use of this system to fabricate multiple magnetic soft microrobots. The experiment results demonstrate that this system can efficiently fabricate microrobots with excellent mechanical properties, which have application potential in robotics, biomedical engineering, and environmental governance.

The study of resilient control of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is gaining popularity in emerging cyber-physical applications. In previous works, explicit system models are required to design a predictor-based resilient controller. These models can be either given a priori or obtained through a prior system identification step. Recent research efforts have focused on data-driven control based on pre-collected input-output trajectories (i.e., without explicit system models). In this paper, we take an initial step toward data-driven stabilization of stochastic LTI systems under DoS attacks, and develop a resilient model predictive control (MPC) scheme driven purely by data-dependent conditions. The proposed data-driven control method achieves the same level of resilience as the model-based control method. For example, local input-to-state stability (ISS) is achieved under mild assumptions on the noise and the DoS attacks. To recover global ISS, two modifications are further suggested at the price of reduced resilience against DoS attacks or increased computational complexity. Finally, a numerical example is given to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control method. © 2021, CC BY.

Flat objects with negligible thicknesses like books and disks are challenging to be grasped by the robot because of the width limit of the robot's gripper, especially when they are in cluttered environments. Pre-grasp manipulation is conducive to rearranging objects on the table and moving the flat objects to the table edge, making them graspable. In this paper, we formulate this task as Parameterized Action Markov decision Process, and a novel method based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to address this problem by introducing sliding primitives as actions. A weight-sharing policy network is utilized to predict the sliding primitive's parameters for each object, and a Q-network is adopted to select the acted object among all the candidates on the table. Meanwhile, via integrating a curriculum learning scheme, our method can be scaled to cluttered environments with more objects. In both simulation and real-world experiments, our method surpasses the existing methods and achieves pre-grasp manipulation with higher task success rates and fewer action steps. Without fine-tuning, it can be generalized to novel shapes and household objects with more than 85% success rates in the real world. Virtual power plant (VPP) participating in the spot market can improve the flexibility of new-type power systems with the increasing penetration of renewable energy. However, multiple uncertainties on the market side, load side and generation side affect the bidding plans and operation efficiency of a VPP. In this paper, a two-stage interval robust optimization model is established to optimize the bidding plans of a VPP including gas turbine, energy storage, photovoltaic (PV) and electric vehicles (EVs). Interval numbers generated by the data-driven model are used to describe the uncertainty and correlation of electricity price in the spot market. Uncertainty sets are employed to describe the uncertainties in the number of EVs and PV power generation. The objective of the model is to jointly optimize the cost of VPP participating in the spot market considering arbitrage opportunity. The objective function containing interval numbers is transformed into a solvable form based on a ranking method considering pessimistic decisions. To solve this model, an improved column-and-constraint generation (C&CG) algorithm is developed based on the combination method of genetic algorithm (GA) and solver Gurobi. The results show that the interval numbers of electricity price generated by the data-driven model proposed in this paper can reduce the cost fluctuation of VPP by 3.2%. The two-stage interval robust model proposed in this paper can reduce the cost of VPP by 1.4% compared with the conventional single-stage robust method, and lessen the cost by 35.2% compared with the robust method that does not consider arbitrage opportunities in day-ahead and real-time markets. The improved C&CG algorithm presents superior performance in convergence and accuracy. Compared to the stochastic optimization method that generates n scenarios, the computational time of the model with the interval optimization method introduced in this paper can be reduced to 1∕n. In the industrial field, compound faults often occur on rolling bearings and it's difficult to diagnose them correctly. To solve this problem, this article proposes a CNN-ELM compound fault diagnosis method based on joint distribution modification. Firstly, considering the complementarity and coupling of data from multiple sensors, a data input trick of multi-sensor data connected in parallel is designed. Secondly, due to the discrepancy of distribution between the compound fault data features and the single fault data features, the marginal distribution matrix and the posterior distribution matrix are used to modify the CNN-ELM network, so that the network can extract more reliable data features for fault diagnosis. Finally, referring to the categories and criteria of bearing damage proposed by Paderborn University, the label code is defined. The corresponding data set is used to verify the proposed algorithm. Experimental results show that the algorithm can accurately obtain detailed fault information such as fault location, fault type, and fault severity. © 2020 IEEE.

Crowd counting has important applications in public safety and pandemic control.A robust and practical crowd counting system has to be capable of continuously learning with the newly incoming domain data in real-world scenarios instead of fitting one domain ***-the-shelf methods have some drawbacks when handling multiple domains:(1)the models will achieve limited performance(even drop dramatically)among old domains after training images from new domains due to the discrepancies in intrinsic data distributions from various domains,which is called catastrophic forgetting;(2)the well-trained model in a specific domain achieves imperfect performance among other unseen domains because of domain shift;(3)it leads to linearly increasing storage overhead,either mixing all the data for training or simply training dozens of separate models for different domains when new ones are *** overcome these issues,we investigate a new crowd counting task in incremental domain training setting called lifelong crowd *** goal is to alleviate catastrophic forgetting and improve the generalization ability using a single model updated by the incremental ***,we propose a self-distillation learning framework as a benchmark(forget less,count better,or FLCB)for lifelong crowd counting,which helps the model leverage previous meaningful knowledge in a sustainable manner for better crowd counting to mitigate the forgetting when new data arrive.A new quantitative metric,normalized Backward Transfer(nBwT),is developed to evaluate the forgetting degree of the model in the lifelong learning *** experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed benchmark in achieving a low catastrophic forgetting degree and strong generalization ability.

In this paper, we investigate the simultaneous state and unknown input (SUI) filtering issue for a class of multi-sensor networked systems (MSNSs). The unknown input with no prior knowledge is introduced in the system state and output. The focus of this paper is to design the local filters with regard to the SUI, which can yield that the local upper bounds of the filtering error covariance for the SUI are derived at each instant. Moreover, the local filter gains of the SUI are designed such that the obtained upper bounds can be minimized. Finally, the proposed joint SUI algorithm is verified by using the simulation example. © 2022 IEEE.

Recent work has shown that the activation function of the convolutional neural network can meet the Lipschitz condition, then the corresponding convolutional neural network structure can be constructed according to the scale of the data set, and the data set can be trained more deeply, more accurately and more effectively. In this article, we have accepted the experimental results and introduced the core block N − Gauss, N − Gauss, and Swish (Conv1, Conv2, FC1) neural network structure design to train MNIST, CIFAR10, and CIFAR100 respectively. Experiments show that N − Gauss gives full play to the main role of nonlinear modeling of activation functions, so that deep convolutional neural networks have hierarchical nonlinear mapping learning capabilities. At the same time, the training ability of N − Gauss on simple one-dimensional channel small data sets is equivalent to the performance of ReLU and Swish. Copyright © 2021, The Authors.
