Elastic Adaptive Network Slicing Scheme Based on Multi-Priority Cooperative Prediction in Fi-Wi Access Network

With the development of information technology, optical access network gradually presents the characteristics of multi-domain, multi-layer and multi-vendor. The network slicing technology provides a feasible scheme for flexible management of heterogeneous resources. Fi-Wi access network has attracted much attention because of its unique advantages in integrating with network slicing technology. An elastic adaptive network slicing scheme based on multi-priority cooperative prediction in Fi-Wi access network is proposed in this paper. In this scheme, priority model is used to sort the processing order of requests to reduce the delay of delay-sensitive requests and depth-first search algorithm is used to select links with more idle resources to ensure more uniform resource allocation in access network. At the same time, LSTM model is used to predict the traffic, and the resource boundary is changed in advance to offset the extra delay caused by moving the resource isolation boundary when the in-chip reserved resources are insufficient. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can not only preferentially process delay-sensitive requests, but also select links that reserve more resources for requests. In addition, compared with static slicing and dynamic slicing based on DES prediction, the proposed scheme has lower bandwidth blocking probablity.

In recent years, homomorphisms have been exploited to compare the structures and properties of two generalized information systems. Some of these homomorphisms are based on consistent functions, which are a class of special mappings between universal sets. The purpose of this paper is to unify and extend the consistent functions in the literature into the framework of neighborhood systems. After introducing the notion of consistent functions with respect to neighborhood systems, we explore some important properties of the extended consistent functions such as preserving the inverse images and the intersections of neighborhoods. Our results provide a sound basis for further investigating neighborhood systems via homomorphisms.

In recent years, ranking-oriented collaborative filtering (CF) algorithms have achieved great success in recommender systems. They achieve advanced performance by predicting item preference ranking rather than the absolute value of the item. However, the listwise collaborative filtering (ListCF) only considers the impact of user ratings, ignores the influence of other feature factors, which leads to lower accuracy of recommendation. This paper proposes a listwise collaborative filtering algorithm based on user ratings and user-item type ratings. Experiments on Movielens proved the improvement of recommendation accuracy.

Self-generated Anonymous Credentials in Ad Hoc Networks

Classical anonymous credential systems are designed for center-controlled networks, and not applicable for ad hoc networks. The existing pseudonym schemes do not thoroughly address the issue in ad hoc networks. Therefore, this paper proposes a self-generated anonymous credential system for ad hoc networks, where a node generates valid pseudonyms itself without the participation of an organization management center, and the frequency of pseudonym-generation is controllable. The formal specification of the proposed system is not defined based on zero-knowledge protocols and classic pseudonym models, but based on the ideal functionality for common certification. To implement a practical system, a modular methodology is used, where a pseudonym-based signature scheme is proposed, and then a tag-based signature protocol is presented. Finally, the whole system is constructed. The security of our scheme is proved in the ideal-system/real-system model.

Mobile phone users are demanding an efficient convergent communication approach for efficient communication and information sharing with their real life social circles. Unfortunately, the existing telecom services and the popular Internet services are not organically integrated to provide convenient convergent services. To overcome this issue, one of the promising convergent communication services considered by telecom carriers is RCS (Rich Communication Suite). However, existing issues, such as insufficient interoperability among different operators, shortage of terminals and heavy dependence on large-scale IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) network deployment, mean that it will take time to implement RCS across worldwide networks and for it to become a service equally universal as voice and short message. Instead of a heavyweight RCS solution, in this paper, we propose a lightweight, quick deployment mobile phone book application system based on cloud computing without a fully deployed IP multimedia subsystem infrastructure, which seamlessly integrates traditional telecommunication services, instant messaging services, social networking services and automatic contact information management. Based on this, Telco-OTT' service provision approach, telecom carriers can allow their subscribers to enjoy conveniently the rich convergent personal service experience quickly without a large initial investment. Thus, it is a low-risk opportunity for telecom carriers to meet subscriber demand for advanced user-centric convergent service features. Copyright (c) 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Present operating management methods can not satisfy the emerging requirements along with the rapid development of the converged services. A novel management process defining approach for the converged services is presented, which aims at the management of the converged services. The approach proposes the convergence of eTOM and ITIL to build the management process framework, which is based on the standard process framework eTOM and refined by ITIL best practice for exerting their respective strength of two frameworks in the areas of the management process. The approach is verified through defining Incident Management process, Change Management process and Customer Order Handling process, and provides the basis for defining the other management processes. © 2010 IEEE.

Currently, Internet of Things (IoT) services in radio access networks require access to multi-dimensional network resources such as communication, computation, and caching to provide customized services. When resources are limited, there is always competition for resources and multi-dimensional resource requirement conflicts (MRRCs), which will lead to performance degradation of the IoT services. Moreover, the diverse resource requirements of IoT services and the fact that multi-dimensional resources are involved in scheduling make it extremely difficult to solve the MRRCs problem. To depict the above issues, we formulate a hierarchical MRRCs model, which applies the Stackelberg model and the multi-objective optimization model to describe the conflicts among services and users, respectively. Then, to address the aforementioned problem, we propose a deep reinforcement learning scheme with a hierarchically structured action space. Additionally, a case study is designed to simulate the resource conflicts of three different types of services on the spectrum, computation capacity, and caching resources. The numerical simulation results show that the proposed scheme has the best convergence ability and overall performance in terms of the MRRCs' coordination compared with the baseline schemes.

This paper aims at balancing the load of small cell networks via user equipment (UE) transfer. To guarantee the fairness of both small cells and UEs, a load definition that jointly considers the small cells' service ability and UEs' data rate requirements is adopted. The system load balancing issue is formulated as an integer lexicographical minimization problem whose calculation complexity is NP-hard. Based on the property analysis of the constructed problem, an lexicographical bound of the system load vector is found and the optimal sub-channel allocation strategy is obtained. To reduce the complexity and achieve a satisfying load balancing performance, a UE transfer based load balancing (UTBLB) scheme is proposed by managing the load distribution in a lexicographical non-increasing manner. Simulation results indicate that the performance of UTBLB is approaching the optimal solution and the fairness of both small cells and UEs is improved.

CCNxTomcat: An extended web server for Content-Centric networking

TCP/IP networks are the backbone of the Internet today, and browser/server is the mainstream web architecture on it. Recently, Content-Centric networking (CCN) has emerged as a clean-slate future network architecture, with totally different protocols than a host-based TCP/IP network. However, current web servers are mainly designed for HTTP over a TCP/IP network and can not directly support CCN-based web applications. Therefore, how to effectively support the dominant browser-based web applications is a key to the success of CCN. Instead of providing a transitional HTTP/CCN transforming gateway or proxy, we design and develop the first practical CCN-enabled web server (called CCNxTomcat) based on open source Apache Tomcat and the CCNx library to natively support CCN-based web applications. The CCN functions are integrated into the web server for content distribution by seamlessly coordinating with the underlying CCN network. To support legacy applications and a smooth evolution from an IP network to CCN, CCNxTomcat also supports the HTTP protocol besides the CCN. Experimental results show that CCNxTomcat outperforms the existing HTTP/CCN proxy implementations by 58% in a single request, and by a factor of three in 1000 concurrent requests, in terms of throughput. Furthermore, we design and implement a novel cache (called ccncache) for the Setvlet response, performing name lookups for Content Packets with a high efficiency. The results indicate that ccncache is 2.5 times faster than the existing CCNx Content Store, with only 30% additional memory consumption. In addition, a real CCN-based web application is deployed on a CCN experimental network, which validates the applicability of CCNxTomcat. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The development of economics and the globalization of trade make cross-region communication increasingly frequent. Traditional communication methods, such as telephone, fax and Email can not satisfy people's daily demands. Multimedia conference system supports people in different places share audio, video and documents to achieve real-time communication. Nowadays, multimedia conference system is mostly accessed via conference television and SIP terminal but lacks mobility support. In this paper, we design and implement a Symbian-based multimedia conference mobile terminal application with which 3G users can enjoy real-time and high-quality conference experience.
