Optimization of LNG Terminal Reserve Planning for Combined Gas and Electricity system

Considering the effect of LNG supplying risk on the combined gas and electricity system's operation under the multi-gas-source supply background, the optimization planning model of the combined system's LNG reserve is developed in this paper. The optimization objective of this model is minimizing the annual cost of combined system, considering operation simulation of several typical scenarios along 52 weeks in a whole year and the annualized investment of LNG tanks. The operation objective of each scenario is determined by LNG's arrival and the operation mode of LNG terminals. A test system of IEEE-39 test system and Belgian 20-node system is formulated. The optimal LNG reserve of the test system is solved, and the effect of load level and operation mode on the reserve planning is also analyzed.

To solve effects of time synchronization problems in double-ended traveling wave location method and achieve exact identification of reflected wave crests in single-ended traveling wave location method, a novel location method is proposed in this paper. A preliminary fault location and approximate values of fault distance are calculated by double-ended principle firstly. Then fault point reflected waves' arrival time at both sides are calculated via using approximate values. Compared with theoretical time, a time error matrix is built and the value which is closest to zero is identified as the actual arrival time of fault point reflected wave. Finally, accurate location is accomplished based on the single-ended traveling wave principle. EMTP-ATP simulation results show that the proposed fault location method is feasible in hybrid lines and fault location accuracy is improved obviously.

Cascading failure is an intrinsic threat of power grid to cause enormous cost of society, and it is very challenging to be analyzed. The risk of cascading failure depends both on its probability and the severity of consequence. It is impossible to analyze all of the intrinsic attacks, only the critical and high probability initial events should be found to estimate the risk of cascading failure efficiently. To recognize the critical and high probability events, a cascading failure analysis model for power transmission grid is established based on complex network theory (CNT) in this paper. The risk coefficient of transmission line considering the betweenness, load rate and changeable outage probability is proposed to determine the initial events of power grid. The development tendency of cascading failure is determined by the network topology, the power flow and boundary conditions. The indicators of expected percentage of load loss and line cut are used to estimate the risk of cascading failure caused by the given initial malfunction of power grid. Simulation results from the IEEE RTS-79 test system show that the risk of cascading failure has close relations with the risk coefficient of transmission lines. The value of risk coefficient could be useful to make vulnerability assessment and to design specific action to reduce the topological weakness and the risk of cascading failure of power grid. © 2016 IEEE.

Reliability evaluation combines the concept of severity of the accident consequence and the likelihood of it occurring. The severity of the accident consequence caused by transmission lines malfunction has rarely been considered in the existing contingency screening technique. This paper proposed a fast contingency filtering technique for transmission system reliability evaluation based on vulnerability analysis. The influence of faulty transmission lines on the severity of accident consequence is described by functional factors based on the vulnerability analysis. The sequence of transmission lines is ordered by the severity coefficients determined by state probabilities or functional factors of the faulty lines or both of them. Contingency states are searched and ranked based on the sequence of transmission lines. Three severity coefficients for a line are defined and examined based on reliability and functional factors. The merits of the proposed techniques and severity coefficients are validated by evaluating the IEEE-RTS79 test system. © 2016 IEEE.

With the increase of wind power capacity incorporated into the grid, the permeability of wind power increases continuously, which leads to the reduction of the equivalent inertia of the system. Rotor speed recovery will cause the secondary frequency dips when DFIG uses rotor inertial control to participate in system frequency modulation. In order to optimize the secondary frequency dips, this paper uses PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) to optimize the Parameters of Variable power Functions on the basis of the previously proposed variable power curve strategy. This article simulates this strategy through setting up a system by Simulink. Simulate the results of optimization, compared with the traditional recovery strategy, validity of the proposed strategy is demonstrated through simulation and analysis.

A new strategy of recovering rotor speed that increases the output power by modifying the variable power curve is proposed in this paper, which decreases the drop of the active power. So as to reduce the secondary frequency dips caused by the sudden drop of the active power when the speed restores. The paper optimizes the secondary frequency dips by modifying the variable power curve continuously. This article simulates this strategy through setting up a system by Simulink. Compared with the traditional recovery strategy, validity of the proposed strategy is demonstrated through simulation and analysis.

Wind-photovoltaic-energy storage (ES) hybrid generating system has numerous reactive power sources. It is crucially important for coordinated control of these reactive power sources. According to the test results, there are unbalanced control problem in subsystem voltage of the hybrid generating system. The problem caused reactive power circulation and loop current. A subsystem voltage balance optimisation strategy is proposed to solve the problem. The case study shows the efficiency of the proposed strategies.

Data modeling based on IEC 61850 standards is the basis for the realization of intelligent substation automation. Traditional manual modeling methods need spending lots of time, and some current intelligent electronic device (IED) configurators are not suitable for applications. To improve IEDs' data modeling methods and IED configurators' modeling methods, an IED configurator automatic modeling method is designed in this paper. Based on object-oriented modeling technology of IEC61850, decompositions and combinations of IED logical nodes, constructions of IED modeling files and configuration processes are analyzed in details. Designing methods of IED configurators' functions and modules are summarized. The application of the IED configurator automatic modeling method in HZP511 line protection monitoring and control device is demonstrated. Results show that both of modeling workload and probability of error in modeling are greatly reduced compared with artificial modeling methods.

Different from other domestic and foreign research in which the optimum interpolation(OI) merging algorithm is commonly used,this paper constructs the non-Gaussian model for generalized variational precipitation data merging research based on the non-Gaussianity of precipitation data. For CMORPH data correction,the probability density function( PDF) matching method is adopted,during which the GAMMA function fitting is utilized,and the generalized variational merging based on non-Gaussian model is used to merge corrected CMORPH precipitation data and station ground observation precipitation data. Meanwhile,we carry out an experiment on CMORPH precipitation data correction and the merging of multisource precipitation data based on non-Gaussian model. By measuring the structural similarity between the merged field and the reference field,we get a merging method that can better retain useful " outliers" which represent weather phenomena. The experimental results accord with our expectations.

In this paper, the reliability of the rolling bearing fault feature extraction based on casing vibration signals is discussed. Through the fault simulation experiment of rolling bearing, the vibration data of the outer ring fault, inner ring fault and rolling element fault, which respectively comes from bearing block measuring point and casing measuring point, is acquired. Then this paper analyzed the data from the time domain, frequency domain and amplitude domain. Analysis results show that, compared to the bearing block measuring points, due to the attenuation of the pulse signal of the fault in the transmission way and the increase of signal to noise on the casing, the fault features of casing vibration signals are significantly weakened. The envelope demodulation, FFT change on the vibration signal of casing directly cannot extract the fault characteristics. However the fault characteristic frequency can be extracted from the appropriate resonance frequency band. The results provide a reference for the fault feature extraction of rolling bearing based on the signal of casing. © 2016, Society for Machinery Failure Prevention Technology. All rights reserved.
