Obviously, network proximity is an essential characteristic for overlay network construction. By selecting the nearest neighbor for the target node, large-scale distributed applications can decrease the communication cost and improve the performance significantly. Nevertheless, existing mechanisms for exploiting network proximity information are either inaccurate or low efficiency. In this paper, we present a novel and practical algorithm to find the nearest neighbor in overlay network, called Polar. Performing direct measurement based on the result of distance prediction using network coordinate, Polar achieves accuracy as while as it has low overhead. Meanwhile, our proposal does not rely on the static landmark so it has strong scalability and high robustness. Along with information on the Internet increasing dramatically, People usually search and locate information that they needed by search engines. Clustering search engine results is an effective method to help people select information needed from the list of search engine results. The paper presents a clustering algorithm of no-word-segmentation for Chinese search engine results (CANWS). The algorithm firstly preprocesses the search engine results and then computes the similarities of the results based on the same sub-string. Lastly it clusters the results based on the similarity matrix. The paper also gives test and analysis of the algorithm performance by experiments.

Robustness of overlay networks is an importantproperty as well as short delay for real-time media transmission. Unlike previous schemes, which achieve robustness by restoring spanning trees afternodes or links fail, we focus on reducing possible data loss when failure occurs. According to analysis of the relation between tree depth and data loss, we first present a spanning tree which minimizes dataloss but results in large delay. By introducing a factor, we propose a spanning tree which exhibits fine flexibility and tradeoff between data loss and delay. Simulation results show that it achieves relatively low data loss and delay simultaneously, as is optimum for a large range of applications.

Recently, the research of traffic information processing and forecasting technology based on float car data has become more and more popular in the field of ITS. However, it's impossible to calculate real traffic information for all the roads within a large geographic area using float car data alone, because of the limitation of the quantity of float car and the interval of GPS. The insufficient of information will be a barrier of the large-scale application of float car system, which has not been solved perfectly until now. In this paper, two real-time information repair algorithms are proposed. By using the information from other roads or from other periods of time, these algorithms can estimate the information of the roads which have not been covered so as to effectively enhance the application value of float car system.
