On Optimizing Inter-and Intra-Chiplet Interconnection Topologies for Robust Multi-Chiplet Systems

Inter-and intra-chiplet interconnection networks play a vital role in the operation of many core systems made of multiple chiplets. However, these networks are susceptible to faults caused by manufacturing defects and attacks resulting from the malicious insertion of hardware Trojans and backdoors. Unlike conventional fault-tolerant or countermeasure methods, this paper focuses on optimizing network robustness to withstand both faults and attacks, while considering the constraints of chiplet area and power budget. To achieve this, this paper first defines network robustness as a quantifiable measure based on various network parameters, after which an optimization problem is formulated to optimize the robustness of the network topology. To efficiently solve this problem, a reinforcement learning algorithm is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of generating inter-and intra-chiplet interconnection networks that are significantly more robust than existing topology generation methods. Specifically, the proposed method improves robustness over ButterDonut and Kite, respectively by an average of 10.88% and 14.06% under random faults and by 9.37% and 7.81% under targeted attacks. These experimental results confirm that the proposed method is capable of generating robust inter-and intra-chiplet interconnection networks that can withstand both faults and attacks. While significant progress has been made in multi-modal learning driven by large-scale image-text datasets, there is still a noticeable gap in the availability of such datasets within the facial domain. To facilitate and advance the field of facial representation learning, we present FLIP-80M, a large-scale visual-linguistic dataset comprising over 80 million face images paired with text descriptions. FLIP-80M is constructed by leveraging the large openly available image-text-pair dataset LAION-5B and a mixed-method approach to filter face-related pairs from both visual and linguistic perspectives. Our curation process involves face detection, face caption classification, text de-noising, and synthesis-based image augmentation. As a result, FLIP-80M stands as the largest face-text dataset to date. To evaluate the potential of our dataset, we fine-tune the CLIP model using the proposed FLIP-80M, to create FLIP (Facial Language-Image Pretraining) and assess its representation capabilities across various downstream tasks. Our experiments demonstrate that our FLIP model achieves state-of-the-art results in a range of face analysis tasks, including face parsing, face alignment, and face attribute classification. Machine Learning algorithms have been wildly applied in the intrusion detection system(IDS). However, in the IoT environment where the resources are limited and the flow data is of huge amount, we need more efficient and effective ML algorithms to train the detection models. Aiming to have comprehensive performance indicators of the ML algorithms, we compared 15 machine learning for both binary classification and Multi-classification under the criterion of IoT traffic circumstance by indicators in temporal dimension and spatial dimension. We finally suggested using non-linear algorithms, especially tree algorithms training or retraining models to identify malicious network traffic in the IoT IDS. © 2022 IEEE.

Interferometric fiber optical gyroscopes (IFOGs) have become one of the widely used sensors of inertial technology and rotational seismology, owing to their high precision and stability. In recent years, the dual-polarization IFOG, which allows two orthogonal polarization to work simultaneously, has been proved to achieve better measurement performance than the conventional minimum configuration through mutual compensation. In this work, a prototype of dual-polarization fiber-optic gyroscope is designed and realized. laboratory tests show the self-noise has reached 9 nrad/s/sqrt(Hz) over the frequency from 0.01 to 125 Hz and the angular random walk has achieved 2.6×10-5 deg/sqrt(hr). For an Open-loop IFOG, which does not need a confiscated feedback control system, it avoids the dead-zone of closed-loop IFOG. However, limited by the measurement range, as a result of the periodic and nonlinear response of open-loop demodulation, the scale factor of open-loop IFOG varies around 100~1000 parts per million (ppm) conventionally, which hinders its detection accuracy. In this work, with new measurement extension and linearity compensation methods, the prototype achieves an outstanding precision with scale factor nonlinearity up to 5 ppm within ±10 deg/s, and shows the potential of dual-polarization IFOGs for rotational seismology. © 2022 SPIE

Diffusion models have made significant contributions to computer vision, sparking a growing interest in the community recently regarding the application of them to graph generation. Existing discrete graph diffusion models exhibit heightened computational complexity and diminished training efficiency. A preferable and natural way is to directly diffuse the graph within the latent space. However, due to the non-Euclidean structure of graphs is not isotropic in the latent space, the existing latent diffusion models effectively make it difficult to capture and preserve the topological information of graphs. To address the above challenges, we propose a novel geometrically latent diffusion framework HypDiff. Specifically, we first establish a geometrically latent space with interpretability measures based on hyperbolic geometry, to define anisotropic latent diffusion processes for graphs. Then, we propose a geometrically latent diffusion process that is constrained by both radial and angular geometric properties, thereby ensuring the preservation of the original topological properties in the generative graphs. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the superior effectiveness of HypDiff for graph generation with various topologies. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Business process management is the end-to-end business process modeling, analysis, and optimization to achieve business goals. Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is usually used to represent business process models. However, BPMN cannot support the intuitive modeling for some typical tasks in complex business scenarios of the Industrial Internet context, increasing the communication cost between modelers and business personnel. The current solutions try to extend the attributes of BPMN elements with annotations, but a large number of annotations makes business process models complex and cumbersome. This paper proposes to extend new business process modeling elements for Industrial Internet application scenarios based on BPMN extension mechanism, generating an extended business process modeling language, namely BPMN++. And an extended process modeling tool is implemented, which is available online. A case study over a real-world Industrial Internet process validates the usefulness of this extension mechanism and the well understandability of business process models. © 2022 IEEE.

In current Datacenter Networks (DCNs), Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) is a default load balancing scheme. However, using ECMP may result in rapid growth of Flow Completion Time (FCT) due to its well-known drawbacks. In order to solve the problem of ECMP, load balancing schemes with per-packet granularity (such as RPS) and per-flowlet granularity (such as LetFlow) are proposed. These two different granularities have their own features, but there's no existing load balancing considering both their advantages. In this paper, we mix per-flowlet and per-packet in scheduling decisions and introduce the potential performance bottleneck in mixed granularities load balancing. Based on this idea, we propose a hybrid scheme for load balancing, referred to as BOBBLE. The key idea of BOBBLE is to distinguish elephant and mouse flows and schedule them with different granularity. We evaluate BOBBLE in simulations with NS-3. Experiment shows that BOBBLE slightly sacrifices elephant flows FCT but it is worthy because our results demonstrate that BOBBLE is a good trade-off which outperforms RPS and LetFlow in mouse flows FCT in both symmetric and asymmetric topology. © 2021 IEEE.

Accelerating Distributed Deep Learning draws increasing attention recently. Existing solutions like gradient compression, pipelining computation/communication, flow scheduling based on gradient disparities, neglect load balancing for Distributed Deep Learning (DDL) flows in DataCenter Network. In this paper, we review the PS traffic pattern in usual DDL training and propose that minimizing tail Flow Completion Time (FCT) of DDL flows is objective for DDL traffic Load Balancing. Besides, traffics of DDL differ from traditional DataCenter in temporal and spatial distribution. Current DCN Load Balancing become unadaptable to optimization requirements of DDL traffic, so we propose Tailor, a brand new load balancing scheme for DDL traffics training in DCN. Tailor is a solution without complex switch modification that sufficiently leverages the known parameter amount of DDL flows to discover congestion and reroutes by ECMP-like hash function to compensate bandwidth for slower flows. With large-scale simulation, we validate the effectiveness of Tailor. Tailor behaves well in both symmetric and asymmetric topology. It reduces time cost of DDL training by decreasing about 20-30% tail FCT than other load balancing mechanisms. © 2022 IEEE.

Attack End-to-End Autonomous Driving through Module-Wise Noise

With recent breakthroughs in deep neural networks, numerous tasks within autonomous driving have exhibited remarkable performance. However, deep learning models are susceptible to adversarial attacks, presenting significant security risks to autonomous driving systems. Presently, end-to-end architectures have emerged as the predominant solution for autonomous driving, owing to their collaborative nature across different tasks. Yet, the implications of adversarial attacks on such models remain relatively unexplored. In this paper, we conduct comprehensive adversarial security research on the modular end-to-end autonomous driving model for the first time. We thoroughly consider the potential vulnerabilities in the model inference process and design a universal attack scheme through module-wise noise injection. We conduct large-scale experiments on the full-stack autonomous driving model and demonstrate that our attack method outperforms previous attack methods. We trust that our research will offer fresh insights into ensuring the safety and reliability of autonomous driving systems. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.
