Applying SRGMs (software Reliability Growth Models) to real projects is a major concern in software reliability. Sometimes, it is hard to decide the best model for a specific project. Researchers have made a first step on solving this problem by combination, but the effect was limited in accuracy and adaptability. Aiming to improve the usability of the SRGMs, we propose a neural network based combination method to build accurate and adaptive SNN (Selective Neural Network) model. It avoids relying on a single model, thus reduces the risk to produce inaccurate predictions and improves the average performance in accuracy. Neural network and multi-criteria model selection strategy enable the SNN model to be adapted to various projects, producing accurate predictions. Experiment results show that the SNN model makes a notable improvement in accuracy compared with its component models and other combinational models do.

A point models simplification based on energy and screen resolution for mobile devices

Mobile devices have two characteristics that clearly different from the conventional PC systems: low resolution and limited energy. Traditional simplification algorithm computes the error in the object space, which is pure geometry simplification. They do not consider the screen resolution of display terminal. In this paper, we present a novel point models simplification based on energy and screen resolution for mobile devices. The approach calculates the error based on the ultimate display effect, which means it could from the visual effect to determine which part should be simplified first. In addition, we consider the trade-off between visual quality and energy consumption. Energy is used to control the simplification level. Finally, we apply the method to a point models simplification which is based on MLS and splat, and then render the result points on mobile devices. © 2009 Binary Information Press.

Ant Colony Optimization Based on Adaptive Volatility Rate of Pheromone Trail

Ant colony optimization (ACO) has been proved to be one of the best performing algorithms for NP-hard problems as TSP. The volatility rate of pheromone trail is one of the main parameters in ACO algorithms. It is usually set experimentally in the literatures for the application of ACO. The present paper first proposes an adaptive strategy for the volatility rate of pheromone trail according to the quality of the solutions found by artificial ants. Second, the strategy is combined with the setting of other parameters to form a new ACO method. Then, the proposed algorithm can be proved to converge to the global optimal solution. Finally, the experimental results of computing traveling salesman problems and film-copy deliverer problems also indicate that the proposed ACO approach is more effective than other ant methods and non-ant methods.

Border access control, network security mechanism and system access control are three separately access control procedures when user accessing the resource on *** access control mechanism, which adding the authentication of endpoint's platform besides the classical identity-based border access control, enhances the level of protection for network resources to some extent. In the existing network access control mechanisms, TNC has been trying to integrate the network access control mechanism and network security mechanism to add dynamic characteristics,but still can not cover the whole resource access control process. Once a user passes the authentication, he can still make damage to the system. This paper proposes a Unified Network Access Control (UNAC) architecture which effectively integrates the network access control, network security mechanism and system access control through the trust degree, and it can achieve dynamically user control during the resource accessing period.

To avoid the precision loss caused by combining data- flow facts impossible to occur in the same execution path in dependence analysis for C programs, this paper first proposes a flow-sensitive and context-insensitive points-to analysis algorithm and then presents a new dependence analysis approach based on it. The approach makes more sufficient consideration on the executa- ble path problem and can avoid invalid combination between points-to relations and between points-to relations and reaching definitions. The results of which are therefore more precise than those of the ordinary dependence analysis approaches.

In this paper we introduce a novel method, LCDA, to identify the communities in large complex network based on ¿local community¿. Time complexity of our algorithm is O(n 3 Ln(n) where is the mean degree and n is the number of vertices in the network. It is very useful in analyzing very larger complex network. By applying LCDA on Zachary club network we get better structure than classical NG algorithm and higher speed than SA method. Our algorithm exhibits good accurateness by testing much larger complex networks further.

Service composition is an effective approach for multimedia delivery in pervasive environment. In previous works, there is one fixed functional path which is composed of several underlying services in a certain order. Actually, there are several functional paths delivering different quality level multimedia from the source to the end user. Due to the dynamicity and mobility of pervasive space, system should generate a reliable and low-delay service path for multimedia delivery in real-time. Since some multimedia service components change the data transmission volume which has a deep impact on the transmission delay, it makes the media delivery problem equal to Multi-Constrained Path problem which is known to NP-Complete. We propose an efficient algorithm LD/RPath (Lowest Delay/Reliability Path) for adaptive multimedia delivery. LD/RPath generates a low-delay service path based on several functional paths with reliability guarantee. Experiment results show that LD/RPath has a good performance and it is an effective algorithm for multimedia delivery in pervasive space.

Vision-based motion estimation is a key technique in autonomously mobile robot. This paper presents an integrated method for motion estimation of the mobile robot based on floor plane extraction. The whole processes include floor plane extraction, pose estimation of the onboard stereo vision system and motion estimation of the mobile robot. First, based on disparity map obtained from the onboard real-time stereo vision system, a two-stage method is used for fast floor plane extraction. Then all the points belong to the floor plane are transformed from disparity space to Euclidean space, and a simple least squares method is employed to fit the floor plane. The fitting parameters of the floor plane are used for the pose estimation of the onboard stereo vision system. Finally, the motion of the mobile robot is estimated with the tracking results of the points on floor plane. The proposed motion estimation method is intended to be used in the motion control of a wheeled mobile robot. Experimental results in real environments are presented. ©2009 IEEE.

Service-oriented multimedia processing system is an effective approach to allow dynamic and customized service requests in a pervasive environment. This paper studies the context-aware multimedia processing problem under the consideration of the QoS from two aspects: delay and media quality. The second metric is introduced based on the factor that different display devices can adapt to different media quality to the same request. We propose a new measurement, the media quality change ratio, to quantitively describe the adaptability of source media to meet quality requirement of different devices. We further investigate the important issue on how to find an optimal service path according to the users' requirements which are formulated as functional paths. Previous work on the path construction is only based on one fixed functional path. We propose a heuristic algorithm CMpath that explores multiple functional paths and thus can generate a service path to meet both low-delay and media quality requirements. Our experimental results also validate the proposed algorithm.

Concept maps are an important tool to knowledge organization, representation, and sharing. Most current concept map tools do not provide full support for hand-drawn concept map creation and manipulation, largely due to the lack of methods to recognize hand-drawn concept maps. This paper proposes a structure recognition method. Our algorithm can extract node blocks and link blocks of a hand-drawn concept map by combining dynamic programming and graph partitioning and then build a concept-map structure by relating extracted nodes and links. We also introduce structure-based intelligent manipulation technique of hand-drawn concept maps. Evaluation shows that our method has high structure recognition accuracy in real time, and the intelligent manipulation technique is efficient and effective. Copyright 2009 ACM.
