This paper proposes a genetic-based algorithm for surface reconstruction of three-dimension (3-D) objects from a group of contours representing its section plane lines. The algorithm can optimize the triangulation of the surface of 3-D objects with a multi-objective optimization function to meet the needs of a wide range of applications. Further, a new crossover operator for triangulation and a new 3-D quadrilateral mutation operator are also introduced.

The Cr(VI) catalytic reduction with UV light irradiation has been studied using four different TiO2 samples which are prepared by hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide and then fired at four different temperatures. Except the difference of photoreduction rate constants, the kinetics of Cr(VI) photoreduction and pH influence on the reaction are similar in catalytic and catalyst free systems. At low pH the rate constant of catalytic Cr(VI) photoreduction is higher than that at high pH in both systems. While pH is lower than 2.5, the reaction of Cr(VI) photoreduction fits half order kinetics. At pH 4.0, the reaction of Cr(VI) photoreduction is changed into first order kinetics. The catalytic activities of TiO2 samples, fired at four different temperatures, are different. For catalysts, crystalline form and Cr(VI) adsorption ability of TiO2 are the major characteristics which influence the catalytic ability. The high adsorption amount can enhance the Cr(VI) photoreduction efficiency. However, the dependence of photoreduction ability on crystalline form of catalyst is more important than that on adsorption ability of catalyst. For TiO2, with different crystalline forms, their catalytic photoreduction abilities show different responses to the solution pH values.

RF excited CO2 waveguide laser arrays with three different structures (one-dimension and two-dimension) are reported in this paper. The output character of far-field and near-field of those lasers have studies and the phase locking between the waveguide elements has discussed. The cavity length of waveguide laser array is 380 mm and the resonator is formed by placing a plane germanium coated gold mirror and a plane ZnSe output coupler. The laser is operated with filling static gas of He∶N2∶CO2∶Xe=3∶1∶1∶0.1 mixture at 1.06×104 Pa total pressure. High output power density is achieved and the output power is 30-w with an efficiency η=10%. The output power is limited by the maximum power of RF transmitter.
