Due to suffering from the diversity and complexity of robotic tasks in continuous domains, robotic skill learning is the most challenging issue in this area, especially for robots with high-dimensional state spaces. To learn structured policies for continuous control, the graph neural networks (GNN) was previously applied to incorporate explicitly the robot structure into the policy network. In this work, we tackle the problem of robotic skill learning in high-dimensional state space with the help of graph neural networks. Instead of utilizing a general purpose multi-layer perceptron (MLP) as a unified controller to output actions for all joints of the robot, we construct a separate controller for each joint of the robot by using the individual features that have been extracted by GNN model. Empirical results on simulated continuous systems, including applications to PR2 task and Centipede task, demonstrate that the proposed framework can achieve satisfactory learning performance, and more importantly, it significantly reduces the parameters of the policy network.

It is a key issue in building operation management how to design an open and ubiquitous information system for diversity buildings of smart cities. This paper presents an operation management cloud ecosystem for smart buildings based on the technologies of Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing. It contains four levels: operation management application level, Internet of things platform, networking level, node level. The IoT platform provides hosting and computing, cloud storage, data storage for smart buildings. Networking level takes the responsibility for networking for intelligent hardware and smart terminals from the device level. With the building operation management applications, the cloud ecosystem is able to provide services of monitoring, controlling, management, and real-time optimization for smart buildings in cities.

Reasonable timing design for traffic light can induce and maintain the transportation systems in good order. How to allocate the time are the keys. In the paper, the theory of time-varying universe is used to describe the circle time, and corresponding fuzzy sets on the universe are also discussed to modeling the situation of traffic flow, then the parallel traffic management and control methods which are dynamic with the time change are presented. A simulation example are provided to analyze the linguistic dynamic evolution of timing design of traffic light when the traffic flow is change with time-varying for an intersection.

Removing water fluctuation via motion field-based kernel regression

A new approach is proposed in this paper to recover the original image of an underwater scene from a given sequence distorted by water fluctuation. The contribution of our method is to use a motion field-based kernel regression to reconstruct an undistorted image. It first utilizes the image registration method to generate registered frames and the corresponding motion fields, and then detect a set of stationary patches from registered frames by calculating the movement energy of local regions. Finally, a temporal kernel regression is carried out to combine the detected stationary patches to reconstruct an undistorted stationary image. Experiments illustrate that this approach can effectively alleviate distortions and significantly improve visual quality of the distorted images. Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Online traffic simulation that feeds from online information to simulate vehicle movement in real-time has recently seen substantial advancement in the development of intelligent transportation systems and urban traffic *** has been a challenging problem due to three aspects:1)The diversity of traffic patterns due to heterogeneous layouts of urban intersections;2)The nature of complex spatiotemporal correlations;3)The requirement of dynamically adjusting the parameters of traffic models in a real-time *** cater to these challenges,this paper proposes an online traffic simulation framework called automated urban traffic operation simulation via meta-learning(AUTOSIM).In particular,simulation models with various intersection layouts are automatically generated using an open-source simulation tool based on static traffic geometry *** a meta-learning technique,AUTOSIM enables an automated learning process for dynamic model settings of traffic scenarios featured with different spatiotemporal ***,AUTOSIM is capable of adapting traffic model parameters according to dynamic traffic information in real-time by using a *** computational experiments,we demonstrate the effectiveness of the meta-learningbased framework that is capable of providing reliable supports to real-time traffic simulation and dynamic traffic operations.

Online routing of two vehicles to an emergency scene in grid transportation network

The online routing problem of two vehicles to an emergency scene is considered. In grid transportation network, some of the edges may be suddenly blocked and the blockage will not be observed until reaching an endpoint of the blocked edge. The goal is to minimize the arrival time of the first vehicle with at most k blockages. An online strategy named Row-first and Line-first is presented and the competitive ratio is analyzed, and the ratio is proved to be tight. The optimization of the online strategy in some situations is also proved.

Taking Ei Compendex (EI) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases as the literature sources, this paper presented a bibliographic analysis of the blockchain-related literature between January 2011 and September 2017. For each literature source, we built a separate dataset. Authors' productivity and collab.ration, affiliation of authors and collab.ration amongst institutions were analyzed using techniques of social networks analysis on both datasets. According to the results, the CNKI authors/institutes raised their productivity and outperformed the EI authors/institutes since 2016. However, the EI authors/institutes show a higher level than the CNKI authors/institutes in collab.ration. We also summarized the hot topics on the EI dataset using textual analysis and discovered researchers have shifted their attention from Bitcoin itself to the blockchain technology underlying it. © 2018 IEEE.

Student motivation is one of the most important individual characters for explaining student performance in class. Existing researches show that it can be affected largely by social-contextual factors. Rather than focusing on social relationship, in this paper we construct social activity networks for analyzing the impact of collective behaviors on student motivation. We conduct field experiments to compare social activity networks with relationship networks by analyzing the structural characteristics. We also investigate the dynamic of social activities,and validate the effectiveness of social activity network in reflecting social influence on student motivation. Our results show that social activities are important factors affecting student motivation.

For e-commerce websites collective actions have significant influence on the behaviors and decisions of individual customers. In this work, we propose a dynamic utility model for customers in e-commerce by considering a “social choice force” (SCF) effect on utility functions of agents. We apply the Artificial societies, Computational experiments, and Parallel execution (ACP) approach to investigate the short-term efforts of collective action manipulation. Experimental results show that the proposed agent model and algorithm outperform the baseline prediction algorithm and illustrate the effect of collective action manipulation in a group buying directory website.
