The systematical and scalab.e frameworks were provided for estimating the blocking probabilities under asynchronous traffic in optical burst switching(OBS) nodes with limited wavelength conversion capability(LWCC) . The relevant system architectures of limited range and limited number of wavelength converters(WCs) deployed by a share-per-fiber(SPF) mode were developed,and the novel theoretical analysis of node blocking probability was derived by combining the calculation of discouraged arrival rate in a birth-death process and two-dimensional Markov chain model of SPF. The simulation results on single node performance verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the analysis models. Under most scenarios,it is difficult to distinguish the plots generated by the analysis and simulation. As the conversion degree increases,the accuracy of the analysis model worsens slightly. However,the utmost error on burst loss probability is far less than one order of magnitude and hence,still allows for an accurate estimate. Some results are of actual significance to the construction of next-generation commercial OBS backbones.

We report on the phenomena of the periodic spontaneous collapse and revival in the dynamics of an atomic beam interacting with a single-mode and coherent-state light field. Conventional collapse and revival by Eberly et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 44(1980)1323 ] are presented in the case of the evolution with time of the population inversion. Here, we study the evolution with coupling strength of population inversion. We define the collapse and revival coupling strengths as characteristic parameters to describe the above collapse and revival. Furthermore, we present the analytic formulas for the population inversion, the collapse and revival coupling strengths.

The concept of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) has been in-troduced into mobile networks, which has led to the emer-gence of mobile P2P networks, and originated potential ap-plications in many fields. However, mobile P2P networks are subject to the limitations of transmission range, and highly dynamic and unpredictable network topology, giving rise to many new challenges for efficient information retrieval. In this paper, we propose an automatic and economical hybrid information retrieval approach based on cooperative cache. In this method, the region covered by a mobile P2P network is partitioned into subregions, each of which is identified by a unique ID and known to all peers. All the subregions then constitute a mobile Kademlia (MKad) network. The pro-posed hybrid retrieval approach aims to utilize the flooding-based and Distributed Hash Table (DHT)-based schemes in MKad for indexing and searching according to the designed utility functions. To further facilitate information retrieval, we present an effective cache update method by considering all relevant factors. At the same time, the combination of two different methods for cache update is also introduced. One of them is pull based on time stamp including two different pulls: an on-demand pull and a periodical pull, and the other is a push strategy using update records. Furthermore, we provide detailed mathematical analysis on the cache hit ratio of our approach. Simulation experiments in NS-2 showed that the proposed approach is more accurate and efficient than the existing methods.

In this paper, we study the efficiency of inter-domain state advertising in multi-domain networks, in which the intra-domain topology is substituted with a full-mesh topology of abstract links interconnecting the border nodes of the domain. The advertising trigger rate of individual abstract link is taken as the metric of efficiency. We present an analytical model that reveals the contributions of different physical links to the advertising trigger rate of individual abstract links. According to the model, we propose a state based advertising mechanism, called partial link based advertising (PLA) which can discern and advertise the state variation of individual abstract link by monitoring only a portion of physical links. We formulate the problem of how to optimally selecting physical links to monitor, and provide a heuristic algorithm for link selection. Results show that the PLA performs more efficiently than existing mechanisms in terms of advertising trigger rate and blocking probability.
