Sensitive, on-site and multiple detection of mycotoxins is a vital early-warning tool to minimize food losses and protect human health and the environment. Although paper-based lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) have been extensively applied in mycotoxins monitoring, low-cost, portable, ultrasensitive and quantitative detection is still a formidable challenge. Herein, a series of Fe-N-C single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes) were synthesized and systematic characterized. The optimal Fe-N-C SAzyme with highly efficient catalytic performance was successfully used as both lab.l and catalyst in lateral flow immunoassays for mycotoxin detection. By taking advantage of the catalytic amplified system, the qualitative and quantitative detection can be easily and flexibly done via observing the test lines by naked eyes or a smartphone, with the LODs of 2.8 and 13.9 pg mL -1 for AFB 1 and FB 1 , which were respectively over 700- and 71000-fold lower than the maximum limit set by the European Union. Besides, underlying catalytic mechanisms and the active sites of the Fe-N-C SAzyme are also investigated by DFT simulation. This work not only provided a promising detection strategy for the application of advanced SAzymes but also offers experimental and theoretical guidelines to understand the active centers of Fe-N-C SAzymes and the catalytic process. © 2022, The Authors. Fabrication and scintillation characterizations of high concentration Ce3+ doped BaF2 transparent ceramic

In this study, high concentration (5 mol%) of cerium doped barium fluoride transparent ceramic was fabricated by hot pressing method t a temperature of 1200 °C under 30 MPa. XRD (X-ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), PLE (Photoluminescence Emission) measurements was used to investigate the phase composition, microstructure as well as photoluminescence properties of Ce3+: BaF2. XEL (X-ray Excited Luminescence) and pulse height spectrum were used to investigate the scintillation properties of this ceramic. The phase composition and microstructure analyses showed that the Ce3+: BaF2precursor nanoparticles prepared by the co-precipitation method were uniform and have a average size of 25 nm. The highest transmittance of the ceramic was 77% at the wavelength of 2300 nm. The PL (photoluminescence) spectrum showed that the 5d–4f transition of Ce3+: BaF2 transparent ceramic is located at 340 nm. X-ray excited luminescence exhibited only one violet peak at 392 nm. Scintillation decay time measurements showed only a slow component of 437 ns under 662 keV gamma excitation. © 2020

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are very promising for large-scale electrochemical energy ***,dissolution and shuttling of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) intermediates have severely affected their overall electrochemical properties and limited their practical *** polar cathode hosts that can effectively bind LiPSs and simultaneously promote their redox conversion is crucial for realizing high-performance ***,we report bronze TiO2 (TiO2-B) nanosheets (-5 nm in thickness) chemically bonded with carbon as a novel multifunctional cathode host for advanced *** lobservation and first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the TiO2-B with exposed (100) plane and Ti3+ ions exhibited high chemical affinity toward polysulfides and effectively confined them at ***,Ti3+ ions and interface coupling with carbon promoted electronic conductivity of the composite cathode,leading to enhanced redox conversion kinetics of LiPSs during charge/***,the as-assembled TiO2-B/S cathode manifested high capacity (1165 mAh/g at 0.2 C),excellent rate capability (244 mAh/g at 5 C) and outstanding cyclab.lity (572 mAh/g over 500 cycles at 0.2 C).This work sheds insights on rational design and fabrication of novel functional electrode materials for beyond Li-ion batteries.

Hydrophobic interface layer improves the moisture tolerance and efficiency of ambient air-processed perovskite solar cells

Because perovskite films degrade quickly in humidity conditions, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) prepared in ambient air still show lower photovoltaic performance than those prepared in an inert atmosphere. Here, we offer an effective interfacial passivation method via a poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) layer to protect perovskite films and prevent their moisture degradation under ambient air conditions. The power conversion efficiency of the PVK-based champion PSC is 23.27% and is higher than that of the control PSC (20.94%). Meanwhile, the PVK-based perovskite films exhibit a large water contact angle, which is attributed to the hydrophobic nature of the uniformly deposited PVK layer. This leads to no significant effect for the PVK-based perovskite film with moisture degradation for 6 days under an RH of 50%, and the corresponding PVK-based PSC exhibits a higher efficiency of 21.64% PCE and a smaller hysteresis index (HI). Moreover, even after 3550 hours of storage in an argon glovebox, the PVK-based PSC retains 98% of its initial efficiency.

Ultrafast Terahertz Probes of Charge Transfer and Recombination Pathway of CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3) Perovskites

We use transient terahertz photoconductivity measurements to demonstrate that upon optical excitation of CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)perovskite,the hole transfer from CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)into the organic hole-transporting material(HTM)Spiro-OMe TAD occurs on a sub-picosecond ***-order recombination is the dominant decay pathway at higher photo-excitation fluences as observed in neat CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)*** contrast,under similar experimental conditions,second-order recombination weakly contributes the relatively slow recombination between the electrons in the perovskite and the injected holes in HTM,as a loss mechanism at the CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)/Spiro-OMe TAD *** results offer insights into the intrinsic photophysics of CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)-based perovskites with direct implications for photovoltaic devices and optoelectronic applications.

The widespread existence of heavy metal ions in the environmental samples can pose a tremendous threat to human health. Herein, a novel ratio-fluorescence probe consisting of N, S co-doped carbon quantum dots capped silver nanoclusters (N, S-CQDs/AgNCs) were synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal technique for monitoring mercury ions (Hg 2 + ). Upon addition of Hg 2+ , N, S-CQDs/AgNCs displayed a diminished fluorescence at 762 nm with simultaneous enhancement at 435 nm, attributing to the interaction between Hg 2+ and AgNCs occurring a redox reaction. Based on a significant alteration, N, S-CQDs/AgNCs were successfully employed for the determination of Hg 2+ within a linear range of 0.1–10 µM and a limit of detection at 0.037 µM. Furthermore, the developed probe was applied to monitor Hg 2+ in real water. These satisfactory results indicated that it could be achieved sensing for Hg 2+ and provided a potential platform for environmental monitoring.

Enhancing Resistance to Chloride Corrosion by Controlling the Morphologies of PtNi Electrocatalysts for Alkaline Seawater Hydrogen Evolution

A solvothermal method to prepare PtNi alloys that have differing morphologies is described. By adjusting the feed ratio of Pt and Ni precursors in this process, PtNi alloys with different compositions (Pt : Ni atomic ratio from 1 : 3 to 3 : 1) and morphologies (evolution from nanobranches to nanoparticles) are generated. The prepared Pt Ni alloy, which has a composite morphology comprised of nanobranches and nanoparticles, exhibits superior activity and durability towards the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in seawater compared to those of commercial Pt/C catalyst and other PtNi alloys that have different compositions and morphologies. The excellent seawater HER performance of Pt Ni is ascribed to its nanobranch/nanoparticle morphology that optimally facilitates electron accumulation on Pt, which enhances resistance to chloride corrosion in seawater.

The potential toxicity of silver ions (Ag + ) to humans and the environment cannot be overlooked with their widespread application in modern life and industry. Inspired by the higher affinity between -SH and Ag + , a sulfhydryl-functionalized carbon quantum dots (SH-CQDs) was prepared by post-synthesis modification with L-cysteine (L-Cys) as a surface modifier through an amide reaction method. The as-prepared SH-CQDs exhibited a small particle size (6.629 ± 0.4132 nm) and uniform dispersion. The maximum excitation and emission wavelengths of SH-CQDs were 413 nm and 563 nm, respectively. The fluorescence (FL) of SH-CQDs can be quenched by Ag + through static quenching and electron transfer (ET). Hence, a fluorescence assay for Ag + detection with high selectivity and sensitivity was constructed. Significantly, a wide linear (5.00-300 μM) and low detection limit (LOD) (0.7679 μM) was obtained owing to the specific binding of SH-CQD to Ag + . Satisfactory recovery and relative standard deviation (RSD) were measured as 97.36-102.7% and 1.961-5.719% in practical water, respectively. In addition, cytotoxicity and bioimaging assays verified that SH-CQDs have good biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity, which suggested that it has excellent potential in bioimaging.
