Spark plasma sintering (SPS) and Self-propagating High-temperature synthesis/ quick pressing (SHS/QP) methods were used to fabricate nanotubes reinforced alumina. The difference in microstructure was discussed. In the SHS/QP process, the maximum densification temperature is 1660°C and the heating rate is about 1600°C /min. The whole densification process in SHS/QP is very short, which is much beneficial to protect the nanotubes and restrain the growing of grains. The fracture toughness of the sample prepared by SHS/QP is up to 4.9MPam1/2 for 1mass% CNTs/Al2O3 composites, which shows excellent toughening effects of nanotubes.

Cr(N,O) thin films were deposited by radio frequency reactive unbalanced magnetron sputtering on Si(100) or glassy carbon substrates. In this paper, the influence of oxygen content on hardness of Cr(N,O) thin films was investigated. The compositional analysis was carried out by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy. The ability to fabricate high precision micro- to nanoscale structure in a wide variety of materials is of crucial importance for the advancement of microtechnology, nanotechnology and nanoscience. Also, the ability to create micrometer and sub-micrometer architecture for functional ceramics is a prerequisite of exploring the rich field of ceramic nanotechnology. In this work we fabricated three-dimensional oxide ceramic materials with fine-structure over multiple length scales by combining replication patterning technique, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), oxide ceramic material (TiO2) nano-sized particles. Our study is based on the idea that PVA can be easily detached from a mold by peeling. We confirmed that micron and sub-micron-sized fine-structured oxide ceramic patterns containing nano-sized pores could be fabricated using this procedure. The results presented demonstrate the compositional and structural diversities that are possible with a facile approach and simple method.

A simple method was developed to prepare the uniform hematite hollow submicro-spheres with controllab.e structure and different diameter based on monodisperse poly(styrene-co-acrylic acid) [P(St-co-AA)] particles. The structure and formation mechanism of the hollow spheres were investigated in detail. The control mechanism of shell thickness was also discussed. The results indicated that the shell thickness and coarseness of the synthesized core-shell hematite hollow spheres could be tuned simply by the surface carboxyl content of the P(St-co-AA) particles. This method provided a new approach for the structure control in the preparation of hollow spheres. A Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) test shows that the prepared hollow spheres have large surface areas which were decreased along with the increase of the diameter. The magnetic properties of the as-obtained hematite hollow spheres were investigated. The result showed that the coercivity and saturated magnetization were increased along with the increase of the shell thickness, and the remanent magnetization was increased along with the decrease of the diameter.

This oriented films adequately utilized the excellent properties of ID nanomaterials such as single crystal semiconductor architectures, large surface area, and superior charge transport, which lead to higher photocatalytic activity. In present paper a new niobate materials Ba5LixTixNb10-xO30 were synthesized by doping Li+ in the system BaO- TiO2- Nb2O5 in millimeter wave field. X-ray diffraction (XRD) quantitative and scanning transition spectroscopy (SEM) analysis were employed to study crystal structure and microstructure of reaction products. It was found that pure products could be obtained at temperature 900°, 8 min which is lower comparing with that by conventional method. The XRD data shown the crystal belongs to tetragonal tungsten bronze structure with space group P4bm. The grain size synthesized in millimeter wave field had smaller size, narrower distribution, better sinter-ability, and without hard agglomeration comparing whit that obtaining from conventional synthesis. At lower temperature Ba5LiTiNb9O30 is a tetragonal ferroelectric phase.

A high performance thermosetting epoxy resin crosslinkable at room temperature was obtained via directly moulding diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A(DGEBA) and flexibleα,ω-bisamino(n-alkylene)phenyl terminated poly(ethylene glycol).The influences of the n-alkylene inserted in aminophenyl of flexible amino-terminated polythers(ATPE) on the mechanical properties,fractographs and curing kinetics of the ATPE-DGEBA cured products were *** results show that the insertion of n-alkylene group into the aminophenyl group of the ATPE,on one hand,can significantly increase the strain relaxation rate and decrease glass transition temperature of the ATPE-DGEBA cured products,resulting in slight decrease of the Young’s modulus and tensile strength,and significant increase of the toughness and elongation of the ATPE-DGEBA cured *** the other hand,it can remarkably enhance the reactivity of amine with epoxy,much accelerating the curing rate of the ATPE-DGEBA *** activation energy of DGEBA cured by BAPTPE,BAMPTPE and BAEPTPE was 53.1,28.5 and 25.4 kJ·mol;,*** as-obtained ATPE-DGEBA cured products are homogeneous, transparent,and show excellent mechanical properties including tensile strength and *** they are promising to have important applications in structure adhesives,casting bulk materials,functional coatings,cryogenic engineering, damping and sound absorbing materials.
