The interaction between various energy supply systems (cold, heat, electricity, gas, etc.) is becoming more tightly coupled as social economy and technology advance. Multi-energy systems are ineffective because different types of energy systems run independently. In order to protect the data privacy of each sub-system, this research suggests an ideal resource management framework for a multi-energy group control system. The energy hub (EH) paradigm is first suggested. When deploying EHs, the physical constraints of various energy systems are taken into account. Through scenario-based stochastic programming, the uncertainties of renewable energy are considered. According to the leader-follower relationship between multi-energy group control system operators and energy hub operators (EHOs), Benders decomposition is applied to decentralize the decision-making process. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm.

With the continuously growing number of electric vehicles, the safety of electric vehicle battery systems has received wide attention. The threshold parameter learning of the data-based battery diagnosis methods highly affects the algorithm performance but is seldom discussed. In this paper, two commonly used fault diagnosis methods, 3σ multi-level screening method and LOF algorithm are compared to evaluate the fault detection performance, and the learning of the threshold parameters are particularly discussed. The results further address the importance of threshold parameter learning for the performance evaluation of battery diagnosis methods. © 2021 IEEE.

Batteries, with support of governments and industry, have flourished in recent years, which appears to be one of the most promising power sources in the global transportation field. In addition to being widely used in passenger cars, batteries are also applied in off-road vehicles. Forklift is one of off-road vehicles and the proportion of electric forklift is increasing on the whole. Since the commonly used battery on forklifts is lead-acid battery, which brings great burden to the environment, it is necessary to seek for potential substitute for lead-acid battery. Benefiting from the maintenance-free nature and long lifetimes, forklift powered by lithium-ion battery is proposed in this paper. Total cost of ownership (TCO) is used to compare the economic competitiveness of forklifts powered by two different kinds of batteries. The data and conclusion in this paper may provide some references for consumers, vehicle manufactures and policymakers on electric forklifts. © 2021 IEEE.

In recent years, electrification has become a major trend in the transportation domain, where the electrification of forklifts is even significant. In 2016, the annual growth of electric forklift production reached nearly 40%. Current electric forklifts are mainly lead-acid battery-powered;however, lead-acid battery is not environmentally friendly and have a short life span. With the advantage of improved environmental impact and less maintenance requirement compared with the lead-acid battery, and much less cost compared with the new lithium-ion battery, the second-life lithium-ion battery becomes a competitive alternative power supply for electric forklifts. In this paper, a comparison of the economic competitiveness between the lead-acid battery- powered forklift and second-life lithium-ion battery-powered forklift is carried out. With the detailed calculation of the total cost of ownership of both technologies with sensitivity analysis, the great potential of second-life lithium-ion battery-powered forklift is demonstrated. © 2021 IEEE.

A Novel Triple Capacitor Multi-Level Submodule Mmc Topology with Fault Current Clearing Capability

In the high voltage direct current system based on modular multilevel converter (MMC-HVDC), the half-bridge submodule (HBSM) has become the preferred submodule for significant projects due to its convenient control and low cost. However, the DC shortcircuit protection performance of MMC-HVDC will seriously restrict its development in areas such as overhead lines, high voltage, and large capacity. This article proposes a triple capacitor multi-level submodule (TCMSM) based on a modular multilevel converter with DC fault-blocking capability. It utilizes at least one-third of the module capacitance in the bridge arm to reverse, suppress the DC fault current and turn off the diode. At the same time, the unidirectional conductivity of the diode can also prevent arc reignition at the fault point. The article also conducted in-depth research on the DC short-circuit fault elimination mechanism of this topology, and compared its performance with other topologies. Through analysis, it can be concluded that TCMSM reduces the initial investment and operating costs by reducing the number of devices inside the module while possessing the fault current blocking ability. Finally, MATlab.Simulink was used to simulate and verify the proposed new topology, and its performance was analyzed. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Fault location in distribution systems includes 2 subtasks: fault distance estimation and fault section identification. This paper presents a fault location method based on reclosure-generating traveling waves and system topology. Firstly, the reclosure-generating traveling waves under normal and fault conditions are analyzed to find the traveling wave reflected by fault point, through which the fault distance could be estimated. Secondly, we propose a fault section identification method by comparing real measured traveling waves with simulated traveling waves with different potential fault points. Noticing that only time information of traveling waves rather than their magnitude is necessary, instead of using electromagnetic transient simulation, we also present a simplified simulation algorithm that only focuses on the arrival time of traveling waves based on priority queue. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can locate fault points in high accuracy with low computational burden. © 2020 IEEE.

Electric buses play a vital role in future sustainable transportation and estimating the energy consumption of electric buses is important for reducing range anxiety and optimizing charging schedules. However, due to the numerous unobserved factors in real-world driving, there are naturally significant uncertainties in the energy consumption of electric vehicles. Therefore, besides focusing on improving model accuracy, the estimating probabilistic distribution of the uncertainties can also help to better characterize electric bus energy consumption and increase the confidence in the estimation results. In this paper, two probabilistic models, based on Bayesian regression and quantile regression, are proposed to estimate the probabilistic distribution of electric bus energy consumption; the probabilistic models are trained and validated using real-world driving data from 10 electric buses over a year. The results show that the proposed methods both capture the probabilistic characteristics well; however, the variations of uncertainties are better adapted in quantile regression.

Hydrogen energy, a type of green secondary energy, has attracted much attention in recent years. The production of hydrogen by water electrolysis is less harmful to the environment and makes it possible to obtain hydrogen with a high degree of purity. But it requires a lot of electricity and is expensive. Installed capacity and the share of electricity generation from new energy sources have increased recently. The "double high" trend in the power system is becoming apparent. The combination of new energy power generation and hydrogen production by water electrolysis can not only promote the absorption of new energy power generation, but also reduce the cost of hydrogen production. The conventional thyristor power supply system for hydrogen production has low power factor and poor harmonic performance, which cannot meet the requirements of the new power system. Hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices is gradually becoming mainstream. In this paper, the low voltage ride through capability and the reactive power support function for the power grid of hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices are verified by simulation. For both symmetrical and asymmetrical faults, the hydrogen production power supply can ride through the fault.

The battery differences not only affect the reliability and security of battery packs but also accelerate the decline of the packs' life. Although battery management systems (BMS) and equalization circuit can be used to balance the differences, only the whole battery pack can be protected with high-cost and complex circuits. Dynamic reconfigurable battery management system (DRBMS) based on networked control has a simple principle and can shield the differences of battery cells. This paper designs experiments for the dynamic reconfigurable battery network technology and makes a contrast with the traditional BMS. Through the analysis of voltage, SOC difference and dynamic resistance during charging and discharging, the results show that DRBMS has better voltage and capacity equalization effect than BMS. The cells of paralleled battery packs can be fully charged/released in DRBMS. It is also verified that DRBMS is applicable on decommissioned bus battery packs which are of larger differences and the ladder utilization. © 2019 IEEE.

With the development of modern technologies and the environmental requirements, the revolution of sustainable transport systems in the future is inevitable. Standardization plays a key role in providing the ability of information sharing which will be required to enable the development of new applications for a future sustainable transport system. The collection of use cases is a fundamental step to comprehensively analyze the standardization requirements for future sustainable transport. In this paper, the enablers of future transport systems are found, a system model of future sustainable transport is proposed. Based on the framework of the combination of enablers and transport system model, use cases are given, and the aspects required to be focused for future sustainable transport standardization with priorities become clearer.
