Using super resolution direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm is an effective method for passive radar seeker (PRS) to antagonize non-coherent radar decoy. A novel DOA estimation algorithm is proposed to estimate the twodimensional (2-D) arrival angles of multisource by using a uniformly circular array (UCA) of crossed dipoles. By exploiting the polarization diversity of the signals, PRS improves the resolution in condition of closely spaced noncoherent sources for both chirp signals and phase modulated (PM) signals, and offers superior performance as the polarization changes. Simulation results verify the capability and correctness of the new method.

The optimal multiple linear constraint minimal variance (LCMV) beamformer is presented under multiple desired signals case. The theoretical solutions of the optimal weighted vector and maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) are derived by using variable substitution method. Simulation results show that the algorithm is superior to the traditional LCMV approach in the SINR, computational load and applicability. The algorithm can be applied in the area of radar tracking of low-angle targets and polarization radar signal processing.

To solve the problem of aspect angle sensitivity of range profile while used in radar target recognition, the concept "distributed glint" is presented for high resolution radar. The detailed deducing procedure of "distributed glint" is given through theoretical analysis. A new target recognition strategy based on range profile and distributed glint is proposed. Computer simulation proves that this method can greatly enhance the performance of recognition strategy based on range profile. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

This paper designs a single rotatable dual-polarized antenna polarimetric active radar calibrator (PARC) and proposes a corresponding dynamic calibration polarimetric (DPC) method. The novel PARC simplifies the system equipment and optimises the antenna's pattern. By modulating the timedelay of the retransmitted signal of the PARC, the polarimetric radar is calibrated with the DPC method. The simulations verify that the single dual-polarized antenna DPC scheme possesses better calibration accuracy than the doubleantenna DPC scheme.

Orientation angle compensation has been incorporated into model-based decomposition to cure the overestimation of volume scattering contribution, by rotating the coherency matrix to minimize the cross-polarization term. However, this processing cannot always guarantee to rotate the double- and odd-bounce scattering components back to zero orientation angle cases and with zero cross-polarization power. Therefore, built-up patches with large orientation angles may still suffer from the scattering mechanism ambiguity. In this paper, general double- and odd-bounce scattering models are proposed to fit for the cross-polarization and off-diagonal terms, by separating their independent orientation angles. The general decomposition framework is proposed and utilizes the complete info.mation. The residual minimization criterion is used for model inversion. The optimal solutions are obtained using the nonlinear least square optimization technique. The manual interference and negative power issues are well avoided during the model inversion. Its efficiency and advantages are demonstrated and evaluated with airborne Xband Pi-SAR polarimetric SAR datasets. Comparison studies are also carried out. Further improved decomposition performance is achieved by the proposed method, especially in oriented built-up areas.

The paper presents a novel repeat jamming method capable of generating false targets in range from intercepted radar chirp signals. The proposed approach divides a received radar signal into several equal parts and then transmitted them back to the radar in a different order. The essence of the spectrumdivided jamming is that the spectrum of a radar chirp signal is separated into several equal pulses and rearranged in a different order to form a whole jamming signal before being retransmitted. The output of each jamming pulse after the matched filter is addressed. The divided number and the optimal retransmitted order are analyzed. Numeric simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Detecting and classifying the modulation type of the intercepted noisy LPI radar waveform has become a hot topic in the field of electron.c Countermeasures (ECM). In this paper, we propose a recognition model based on multiple feature images (MFI) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) with the quasi-residual attention module (QRAM). The core technologies of this model are divided into two parts. One is the MFI that combines the ambiguity function image (AFI) of the complete signal, covariance matrix image (CMI) of the reconstructed signal, and short-Time Fourier transform image (STFTI) of the truncated signal into RGB color image in signal processing as the input for recognition network. The other is CNN with a QRAM recognition network, in which the input is sliced into two mappings called identity mapping and residual mapping to build the quasi-residual module, and the attention module is embedded in each mapping to denoise and enhance the feature. The performance of the MFI-QRAM model is demonstrated by recognizing 12 modulation types of the signals defined in this paper. The simulation experiments show that the model has strong robustness with the number of train sets and the variation of SNR. The overall probability of successful recognition (PSR) is 96.17% when the SNR is-6 dB. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Ultra Wide-band (UWB) is a novel high-speed wireless communication technology. It is dificult to sample UWB signal directly as its wider band width. Compressed sensing (CS) provides a feasible way with under-sampling. However, existing CS-UWB channel estimation method must be used on the assumption that channel sparsity is known. In order to solve this problem, an UWB channel estimation method based on Bayesian Compressed Sensing (BCS) theory is proposed in this paper. BCS introduces Sparse Bayesian Learning (SBL) theory into CS. It sets posterior probability density function controlled by hyperparameters to each value of the object vector. In updating process, hyperparameters corresponding to insignificant multi-paths tends to infinity and their posterior probability tends to zero. This method can distinguish and reconstruct significant multi-paths in channel vector automatically. Experiment result shows that the proposed method can reconstruct original UWB channel effectively when channel sparsity is unknown. © 2013 Binary info.mation Press.

In syntactic modeling, radar words that are encoded into pulse sequences are basic for recognition of multi-function radar(MFR). To deal with the problem of extracting radar words from stream of pulse description word(PDW), an extracting method at data level is presented. Firstly, TTP(TOA to PRI) transform method, a pulse sequence analysis method, is improved and expanded. By combining TOA and the other parameters in PDW, multidimensional figure is obtained for joint identification of radar words. Simulation results show that the intuitive method can reduce the effect of drop pulses and false pulses, and extract the radar words of MFR availab.y.

As having the imaging ability of area in front of flight direction, forward-looking synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has become a hot topic in areas of SAR research. Nevertheless, existing imaging algorithms of forward-looking SAR are all based on the assumption that the platform is moving in low velocity. When this assumption is not satisfied, the imaging result of existing algorithms will show focus out effect and deviation of imaging position from real position. Aiming at this problem and taking airborne forward-looking SAR system using single transmitting and multiple receiving antennas as the research object, this paper analyzes the feasibility of forward-looking SAR imaging of high velocity platform, and proposes a forward-looking SAR imaging algorithm suitable for high velocity platform according to its spatial geometry and the model of echo signal. Finally, the raw echo data of an array of point targets is simulated, and the focused images are obtained using the algorithm proposed in this paper. Imaging results demonstrate the validity of the algorithm.
