The battery differences not only affect the reliability and security of battery packs but also accelerate the decline of the packs' life. Although battery management systems (BMS) and equalization circuit can be used to balance the differences, only the whole battery pack can be protected with high-cost and complex circuits. Dynamic reconfigurable battery management system (DRBMS) based on networked control has a simple principle and can shield the differences of battery cells. This paper designs experiments for the dynamic reconfigurable battery network technology and makes a contrast with the traditional BMS. Through the analysis of voltage, SOC difference and dynamic resistance during charging and discharging, the results show that DRBMS has better voltage and capacity equalization effect than BMS. The cells of paralleled battery packs can be fully charged/released in DRBMS. It is also verified that DRBMS is applicable on decommissioned bus battery packs which are of larger differences and the ladder utilization.

The transient pressure process, which determined the gas blasting in the interrupter of SF6 circuit breaker, have attracted the attention of designer and developer for long time. In this investigation, a onload SF6 interrupter pressure measurement method was established with piezoresistive pressure transducer and insulating-tube. The pressures in the puffer cylinder, at the upstream, throat and downstream of nozzle have been measured. The difference of gas blowing characteristics between N2 and SF6 has been pointed out. The insulating-tube can effectively protect the pressure transducer from the high voltage and high temperature during on-load interrupting. It was found that the arc process can cause high frequency oscillations to superimpose upon the pressure waveforms during on-load interrupting.

As an advanced internal insulating material, silicone rubber has been widely used in extra high voltage prefabricated cable accessories. However, few studies were focused on the influence of frequency on the electrical tree characteristics and the damage mechanism of such insulation is still unknown. In this paper, the characteristics of electrical tree in silicone rubber under AC voltage of different frequency ranging from 50 Hz to 130 kHz were studied. The tree initiation voltage was measured at room-temperature and the processes of electrical tree were observed via a digital micro-observing system. From the experiments, it was found that the electrical tree in silicone rubber is greatly affected by the frequency of applied voltage. With the increase of frequency, tree initiation voltage of silicone rubber decreases. And the frequency can be separated into four stages, while tree initiation voltage appears different magnitude of decrease. There are 3 kinds of electrical tree during the experiments: branch tree, trunk tree and pine tree. The branch tree and pine tree are the primary shapes in the range of low frequency, while the bush tree is the primary shape in the range of HF. The dielectric spectroscopy of silicone rubber was also measured. At last, the influence of frequency on electrical tree in silicone rubber was analyzed. The repeated electro-mechanical stresses applied to the needle tip under high frequency may lead to the decrease of tree initiation voltage of silicone rubber. And with the increase of frequency, the serious erosion in silicone rubber by electrical tree may be caused by the great increase of dielectric losses.

Deep transfer network with joint distribution adaptation: A new intelligent fault diagnosis framework for industry application

In recent years, an increasing popularity of deep learning model for intelligent condition monitoring and diagnosis as well as prognostics used for mechanical systems and structures has been observed. In the previous studies, however, a major assumption accepted by default, is that the training and testing data are taking from same feature distribution. Unfortunately, this assumption is mostly invalid in real application, resulting in a certain lack of applicability for the traditional diagnosis approaches. Inspired by the idea of transfer learning that leverages the knowledge learnt from rich lab.led data in source domain to facilitate diagnosing a new but similar target task, a new intelligent fault diagnosis framework, i.e., deep transfer network (DTN), which generalizes deep learning model to domain adaptation scenario, is proposed in this paper. By extending the marginal distribution adaptation (MDA) to joint distribution adaptation (JDA), the proposed framework can exploit the discrimination structures associated with the lab.led data in source domain to adapt the conditional distribution of unlab.led target data, and thus guarantee a more accurate distribution matching. Extensive empirical evaluations on three fault datasets validate the applicability and practicability of DTN, while achieving many state-of-the-art transfer results in terms of diverse operating conditions, fault severities and fault types. Novel active damping control scheme for a three-phase active rectifier with LCL-filter

A novel active damping control scheme is developed to eliminate stability problems arisen in the current control of a three-phase voltage source active rectifier (VSR) with LCL-filter. A converter side inductance voltage feedback loop is introduced in the traditional voltage oriented control to stabilize VSR. A simplified discrete model including the current control loop and LCL-filter is established with one sample delay, considering time delays induced by S/H (sampling and holding), processing and modulation. The amplification coefficient of the converter side inductance voltage feedback loop is tuned up to change the unstable poles of LCL-filter. Parameter estimate methods are used to remove unnecessary sensors. simulation and experiment of VSR with LCL-filter demonstrate the proposed active damping control scheme and the stability analyses.

Energy crisis and environmental concerns have led to the rapid development of renewable energy sources(RES). However, the fluctuating and unpredictable nature of RES reduce the reliability of the power systems. Using compressed air energy storage(CAES) is one of the main solutions to this problem. In this paper, three typical operation modes of CAES are adopted to improve the flexibility of the wind-CAES hybrid system, and a risk-constrained economic dispatch model considering the uncertainty of wind power and the part-load characteristics of CAES is proposed. Scenario generation and reduction technique is applied to model the uncertainties and a piecewise linearization method is used to incorporate the part-load features into the mixed integer linear programming model. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is studied in a modified IEEE RTS 24-bus system.

Hydrogen energy, a type of green secondary energy, has attracted much attention in recent years. The production of hydrogen by water electrolysis is less harmful to the environment and makes it possible to obtain hydrogen with a high degree of purity. But it requires a lot of electricity and is expensive. Installed capacity and the share of electricity generation from new energy sources have increased recently. The "double high" trend in the power system is becoming apparent. The combination of new energy power generation and hydrogen production by water electrolysis can not only promote the absorption of new energy power generation, but also reduce the cost of hydrogen production. The conventional thyristor power supply system for hydrogen production has low power factor and poor harmonic performance, which cannot meet the requirements of the new power system. Hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices is gradually becoming mainstream. In this paper, the low voltage ride through capability and the reactive power support function for the power grid of hydrogen production power supply based on fully controlled devices are verified by simulation. For both symmetrical and asymmetrical faults, the hydrogen production power supply can ride through the fault.

Compared with other conventional energy sources, renewable energy, which results in less pollution and has numerous resources, is a significant factor in addressing the current issues of the serious environmental pollution and the resource depletion. Large-scale renewable energy connected to the grid could lead to a the change of the morphological structure and the operation modes of energy transmission. While current power grid evolution models did not consider the characteristics of renewable energy in the evolution strategy. The expansion mechanism of the future transmission network with a high proportion of renewable energy is studied in this paper. The operation cost including renewable energy curtailment are optimized using the production simulations, where the stochastic and intermittent of wind and solar energy are modeled. And the dual variable information is adopted to drive the grid upgrading. The expansion strategies for power grid of Zhejiang province in China are analyzed to balance the construction cost and curtailment cost of renewable energy.

A dynamic multi-level temporal and spatial coordination method for orderly power utilization based on customer load curtailment cost characteristics

When there is power supply shortage or emergency event in power system, orderly power utilization needs to be applied to cut down electricity demand to maintain power supply for important electricity consumers. Current orderly power utilization fails to consider curtailment costs for different regions and customers, and ignores temporal continuity and production regularity of customer, leading to inefficient load curtailment scheduling. This paper proposes a dynamic multi-level temporal and spatial coordinated shortage allocation method considering customer load curtailment costs for orderly power utilization. Load curtailment cost function is established from individual customer level up to provincial electrical grid level. An optimization model is proposed to strategically rearrange customer load profiles across multiple periods. Case studies show that the method efficiently coordinates power shortage in temporal and spatial scale, and significantly brings down economic cost due to curtailment allocation. This model could help promote customer satisfaction level in orderly power utilization. © 2016, power system Technology Press. All right reserved.

The cumulative installed capacity of wind power worldwide has grown rapidly in recent years. Fixed reactive power control is adopted by wind turbines (WTs) to receive cycle instruction of wind farm (WF) automatic voltage control system (AVCS). It does not have active voltage regulation (AVR) capability, which reduces the reliability of power system operation. Firstly, two ways of WTs AVR which QV droop control and Vac control mode are introduced in this paper. On the basis, the problems of reactive power circulation and control points inconsistency during multiWTs voltage regulation are discussed. The problems are solved by coordination of WTs of WF AVR strategy. WF voltage transient support capability is promoted by the strategy. Effectiveness is verified by simulation case of the proposed method. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.
