Linear codes with few weights have applications in secret sharing, authentication codes, association schemes and strongly regular graphs. In this paper, several classes of t -weight linear codes over F q are presented with the defining sets given by the intersection, difference and union of two certain sets, where t = 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 and q is an odd prime power. By using Weil sums and Gauss sums, the parameters and weight distributions of these codes are determined completely. Moreover, three classes of optimal codes meeting the Griesmer bound are obtained, and computer experiments show that many (almost) optimal codes can be derived from our constructions.

Anthropogenic disturbances in tropical forests cause short-and long-term alterations in forest structure, species composition, and successional processes. However, improved understanding of the impacts of disturbance on forest functioning is needed to support forest management and conservation. In this study, we investigated the phenological responses of two sites in the Brazilian Amazon to forest degradation (selective logging and forest fires). We used MODIS-derived time-series to assess pre- and post-disturbance trajectories of two vegetation indices: Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR) and Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI). We found that our study sites present different VI seasonality, and that selective logging did not cause phenological shifts. Fires, on the other hand, caused explicit EVI shifts in the transition from wet to dry season in the driest site and barely no shifts in the wettest site, and yearlong NBR shifts compared to intact forests at both sites. Changes in the magnitude and timing of phenological events highlight human-induced changes in tropical forests functioning. If widespread, these shifts may have large-scale implications for carbon sink stability in tropical regions.

Multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (MIMO-OFDM-IM) has the potential advantage to balance the trade-off between spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE). This paper investigates the application of MIMO-OFDM-IM to millimeter wave (mmWave) communicationsystems. Taking advantage of the properties of Pareto optimality, we propose a feasible solution to achieve a globally Pareto-optimal trade-off between SE and EE, and the collision constraints of multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) can be solved efficiently. The MOP of SE-EE trade-off can then be converted into a Pareto-optimal set (POS) solution problem. This combinatorial-oriented resource allocation approach on SE-EE relation considers the optimal beam design and power reallocation for downlink multi-user mmWave transmission. We adopt the Poisson point process (PPP) to model the mobile data traffic, and the evolutionary algorithm is applied to speed up the search efficiency of the Pareto front. Compared with benchmarks, the experimental results collected from extensive simulations reveal that the proposed optimization approach is vastly superior to existing algorithms.

Based on the two-dimensional multifractional Brownian motion (2D-mFBM) scene model, a novel analytical electromagnetic scattering model considering the scattering characteristics of 2D-mFBM surface is proposed, and then a direct SAR imaging model based on 2D-mFBM is derived. The SAR images are simulated using SAR simulator based on multifractional geometric modeling and electromagnetic modeling. The multifractal spectrum and singularity power spectrum of simulated SAR images are analyzed and compared with those of 2D-mFBM scene model. The simulation and analysis indicates that the SAR image with both HH and VV polarization inherited the multifractal characteristics of 2D-mFBM terrain, and presents similar MFS with the original terrain, which provides valuable reference for the feature extraction of high-resolution SAR remote sensing image.

The main goal of this paper studies modeling of a direct current coaxial motor (DCCM) and testing the main parameters of DCCM on the experimental model. The DCCM contains two rotors named inner runner and outer runner. The inner runner and the outer runner rotate in opposite directions to each other. The shaft of the inner runner and the shaft of the outer runner are coincident and inserted on two separate bearings. To prove this idea, the mathematic model is achieved by a combination of a mathematic model of DC motor and mathematic model of single phase coaxial motor. Simulation result of the mathematic model in Matlab.shows the truth of the hypothesis of the design. The result of testing DCCM of the experimental model is fit to the result of simulation of DCCM in Matlab. Consequently, the DCCM can substitute for other kinds of propellers especially in marine applications.

In a multi-cell massive array multiple input multiple output (MIMO) uplink system, the pilot sequences reused in neighboring cells causes pilot contamination and decoding performance to degrade. In this paper, a blind decoding method based on independent component analysis (ICA) is proposed for a multi-cell massive antenna array system. The proposed blind decoding method uses ICA to separate the received signals (from in-cell and neighboring cells) and estimated channels, without using pilot sequence. Thus, pilot contamination is avoided and decoding performance will be optimized. Each user's angle-of-arrival (AOA) is estimated for recognizing the desired user signals and overcoming the uncertainty of signals separated by ICA. The analytical performance results of the blind decoding method are derived. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme has a better performance compared to MMSE decoding and blind decoding method based on singular value decomposition (SVD).
