Event-based social networks (EBSNs) are the newly emerging social platforms for users to publish events online and attract others to attend events offline. The content information of events plays an important role in event recommendation. However, the content-based approaches in existing event recommender systems cannot fully represent the preference of each user on events since most of them focus on exploiting the content information from events' perspective, and the bag-of-words model, commonly used by them, can only capture word frequency but ignore word orders and sentence structure. In this paper, we shift the focus from events' perspective to users' perspective, and propose a Deep User Modeling framework for Event Recommendation (DUMER) to characterize the preference of users by exploiting the contextual information of events that users have attended. Specifically, we utilize convolutional neural network (CNN) with word embedding to deeply capture the contextual information of a user's interested events and build up a user latent model for each user. We then incorporate the user latent model into probabilistic matrix factorization (PMF) model to enhance the recommendation accuracy. We conduct experiments on the real-world dataset crawled from a typical EBSN, ***, and the experimental results show that DUMER outperforms the compared benchmarks.

As a well-known field of big data applications, smart city takes advantage of massive data analysis to achieve efficient management and sustainable development in the current worldwide urbanization process. An important problem in smart city is how to discover frequent trajectory sequence pattern and cluster trajectory. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a cloud-based taxi trajectory pattern mining and trajectory clustering framework for smart city. Our work mainly includes (1) preprocessing raw Global Positioning System trace by calling the Baidu API Geocoding;(2) proposing a distributed trajectory pattern mining (DTPM) algorithm based on Spark;and (3) proposing a distributed trajectory clustering (DTC) algorithm based on Spark. The proposed DTPM algorithm and DTC algorithm can overcome the high input/output overhead and communication overhead by adopting in-memory computation. In addition, the proposed DTPM algorithm can avoid generating redundant local trajectory patterns to significantly improve the overall performance. The proposed DTC algorithm can enhance the performance of trajectory similarity computation by transforming the trajectory similarity calculation into AND and OR operators. Experimental results indicate that DTPM algorithm and DTC algorithm can significantly improve the overall performance and scalab.lity of trajectory pattern mining and trajectory clustering on massive taxi trace data. The passive synthetic aperture antenna array (P-SAAA) technology is inspired by the idea of synthetic aperture sonar and synthetic aperture radar, which is a new method used to the passive radar source localization using only one small aircraft. Virtual time difference of arrival (VTDOA) estimation is critical for the PSAAA technology, it is defined as the time difference of the radar pulse transmission from the radar source position to different virtual receivers, where the virtual receivers are the flight track position of the small aircraft at different flight time. In this paper, we present three different algorithms of curve fitting to approximate the main-beam pattern of the radar antenna, then the VTDOA can be estimated using the corresponding time of the peak of the curve. The simulation results show that the second-order polynomial of the least squares (LS) curve fitting algorithm is the optimal method to approximate the main beam pattern of the radar antenna at the receiver, which also is the optimal method to be used in the VTDOA estimation.

Encryption algorithms are applied to a variety of fields and the security of encryption algorithms depends heavily on the computational infeasibility of exhaustive key-space search. RC4 algorithm has an extensive application for stream encryption, however, the disadvantages of traditional RC4 serial algorithm are large computational quantity and slow computation speed, which means a great challenge for throughput of computing system. Graphics processors recently have been widely used as accelerators for high throughput computing. In this paper, GPU is used to improve the efficiency and performance of attacking RC4 algorithm. First, we revised RC4 algorithm to make it easier to parallelize on a GPU. Then we take advantage of constant memory and shared memory in GPU to search the key space of RC4 algorithm efficiently. Besides, we solved the bank conflict problem in shared memory to further improve the performance. Our approach was evaluated in the whole key space of 40-bit, and the results show it can complete searching of the whole key space within 12.8 hours. © 2016 IEEE.

Background: Decades of steady improvements in life expectancy in Europe slowed down from around 2011, well before the COVID-19 pandemic, for reasons which remain disputed. We aimed to assess how changes in risk factors and cause-specific death rates in different European countries related to changes in life expectancy in those countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We used data and methods from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to compare changes in life expectancy at birth, causes of death, and population exposure to risk factors in 16 European Economic Area countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden) and the four UK nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) for three time periods: 1990–2011, 2011–19, and 2019–21. Changes in life expectancy and causes of death were estimated with an established life expectancy cause-specific decomposition method, and compared with summary exposure values of risk factors for the major causes of death influencing life expectancy. Findings: All countries showed mean annual improvements in life expectancy in both 1990–2011 (overall mean 0·23 years [95% uncertainty interval [UI] 0·23 to 0·24]) and 2011–19 (overall mean 0·15 years [0·13 to 0·16]). The rate of improvement was lower in 2011–19 than in 1990–2011 in all countries except for Norway, where the mean annual increase in life expectancy rose from 0·21 years (95% UI 0·20 to 0·22) in 1990–2011 to 0·23 years (0·21 to 0·26) in 2011–19 (difference of 0·03 years). In other countries, the difference in mean annual improvement between these periods ranged from –0·01 years in Iceland (0·19 years [95% UI 0·16 to 0·21] vs 0·18 years [0·09 to 0·26]), to –0·18 years in England (0·25 years [0·24 to 0·25] vs 0·07 years [0·06 to 0·08]). This paper presents a simulator for swarm operations designed to verify algorithms for a swarm of autonomous underwater robots (AUVs), specifically for constructing an underwater communication network with AUVs carrying acoustic communication devices. This simulator consists of three nodes: a virtual vehicle node (VV), a virtual environment node (VE), and a visual showing node (VS). The modular design treats AUV models as a combination of virtual equipment. An expert acoustic communication simulator is embedded in this simulator, to simulate scenarios with dynamic acoustic communication nodes. The several simulations we have performed demonstrate that this simulator is easy to use and can be further improved.

According to the small variety of received signals in a short timeslot, the OMP spectrum sensing algorithm based on differential signal is proposed. Firstly the algorithm differentiates the previous signal and current signal, and detects its spectrum to acquire the information of channel variation. Secondly the current channel state is exclusive OR of the previous channel state and channel variation. At last, the current occupied spectrum can be obtained by the channel state. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can greatly reduce computational complexity and achieve a better performance. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

With the easy access to cloud technologies and rich applications, more people tend to store their data in cloud. However, the data in the cloud have to face the privacy and security challenges. To enforce the privacy and security protection of data in the cloud, Slice-based Secure Data Storage in Multi-Cloud Environment (SSDS-MC) is proposed in this paper. Specifically, user data are divided into multiple slices, which are stored separately into different cloud. The advantages of SSDS-MC are two-fold: i) each cloud service provider does not have all the slices of the user data and thus cannot retrieve the full user data by the slice stored in his cloud, which can further protect the privacy and security of user data; ii) each slice can be duplicated and uploaded to multiple cloud, which improve the availab.lity of data in case the slice gets lost or damaged in one place.

Frequency synthesizer plays an important role in frequency hopping communication system. In this paper, we derivate the conditions for a system to become the chaotic based on the phase model of phase-locked synthesizer. We found that the system parameter changing during the frequency switching is able to make the system to be chaotic. Based on the Cao's method [5], we find that the fractal dimension of the transient signals should be equal to or less than 4, which also provides the maximal positive Lyapunov exponent. In addition, the unique double-ring attractor of them is also reproduced through the phase reconstruction, which also implies that the frequency switching will result in a chaotic for Frequency-Hopping communication system. © 2014 IEEE.
