Anthropogenic land-use change is an important driver of global biodiversity loss and threatens public health through biological interactions. Understanding these landscape-ecological effects at local scales will help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by balancing urbanization, biodiversity and the spread of infectious diseases. Here, we address this knowledge gap by analysing a 43-year-long monthly dataset (1980-2022) of synanthropic rodents in Central China during intensive land-use change. We observed a notable increase in the mean patch size, coinciding with a substantial change in rodent community composition and a marked decline in rodent diversity;eight of the nine local rodent species experienced near-extirpation. Our analysis reveals that these irregular species replacements can be attributed to the effect of land consolidation on species competition among rodents, favouring striped field mice, a critical reservoir host of Hantaan virus (HTNV). Consequently, land consolidation has facilitated the proliferation of striped field mice and increased the prevalence of HTNV among them. This study highlights the importance of considering both direct and indirect effects of anthropogenic activities in the management of biodiversity and public health. A 43-year dataset of rodents in the Hu region of China reveals how urbanization-induced changes to land-use configuration affect rodent community composition, including benefitting striped field mice, the primary local hosts of the zoonotic pathogen Hantaan virus.

Previous epidemiological researches have studied HFMD transmission pattern, but the study on the patients mobility pattern while seeking treatment is absent. In this paper, we present a statistical analysis of the spatialtemporal pattern of the Beijing HFMD patients mobility based on a complete works dataset containing over 40,000 cases in 2010. The main findings are as follows: (1) the patents incline to take their sick children to hospitals on weekdays, especially on Monday;(2) the patients living far from city center are more likely to get to hospitals in the afternoon, while the patients in the downtown in the morning;(3) patients (or their parents) either select the nearby hospitals, or the Class-A hospitals in the downtown. Furthermore, we employ a gravity model to describe the spatial mobility pattern of patients. The experiment results show a good fit. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Radio fingerprint matching localization method promises high localization accuracy but requires extensive infrastructural effort and search operations. This paper proposes a new search strategy for radio fingerprint matching method, which sharply reduces search operations and shows little effect on localization accuracy. Indoor experiment is conducted to evaluate our method. © 2011 IEEE.

Road boundary detection is essential for autonomous vehicle localization and decision-making,especially under GPS signal loss and lane *** road boundary detection in structural environments,obstacle occlusions and large road curvature are two significant ***,an effective and fast solution for these problems has remained *** solve these problems,a speed and accuracy tradeoff method for LiDAR-based road boundary detection in structured environments is *** proposed method consists of three main stages:1)a multi-feature based method is applied to extract feature points;2)a road-segmentation-line-based method is proposed for classifying left and right feature points;3)an iterative Gaussian Process Regression(GPR)is employed for filtering out false points and extracting boundary *** demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method,KITTI datasets is used for comprehensive experiments,and the performance of our approach is tested under different road *** experiments show the roadsegmentation-line-based method can classify left,and right feature points on structured curved roads,and the proposed iterative Gaussian Process Regression can extract road boundary points on varied road shapes and traffic ***,the proposed road boundary detection method can achieve real-time performance with an average of 70.5 ms per frame.

Precision management of agricultural systems, aiming at optimizing profitability, productivity and sustainability, comprises a set of technologies including sensors, information systems, and informed management, etc. Expert systems are expected to aid farmers in plant management or environment control, but they are mostly based on the offline and static information, deviated from the actual situation. Parallel management, achieved by virtual/artificial agricultural system, computational experiment and parallel execution, provides a generic framework of solution for online decision support. In this paper, we present the three steps toward the parallel management of plant: growth description U+0028 the crop model U+0029, prediction, and prescription. This approach can update the expert system by adding learning ability and the adaption of knowledge database according to the descriptive and predictive model. The possibilities of passing the knowledge of experienced farmers to younger generation, as well as the application to the parallel breeding of plant through such system, are discussed. © 2017 Chinese Association of Automation.

Recently, generative adversarial networks(GANs)have become a research focus of artificial intelligence. Inspired by two-player zero-sum game, GANs comprise a generator and a discriminator, both trained under the adversarial learning *** goal of GANs is to estimate the potential distribution of real data samples and generate new samples from that *** their initiation, GANs have been widely studied due to their enormous prospect for applications, including image and vision computing, speech and language processing, etc. In this review paper, we summarize the state of the art of GANs and look into the future. Firstly, we survey GANs' proposal background,theoretic and implementation models, and application ***, we discuss GANs' advantages and disadvantages, and their development trends. In particular, we investigate the relation between GANs and parallel intelligence,with the conclusion that GANs have a great potential in parallel systems research in terms of virtual-real interaction and integration. Clearly, GANs can provide substantial algorithmic support for parallel intelligence.

Reaching a consensus in networks of high-order integral agents under switching directed topologies

Consensus problem of high-order integral multi-agent systems under switching directed topology is considered in this study. Depending on whether the agent's full state is availab.e or not, two distributed protocols are proposed to ensure that states of all agents can be convergent to a same stationary value. In the proposed protocols, the gain vector associated with the agent's (estimated) state and the gain vector associated with the relative (estimated) states between agents are designed in a sophisticated way. By this particular design, the high-order integral multi-agent system can be transformed into a first-order integral multi-agent system. Also, the convergence of the transformed first-order integral agent's state indicates the convergence of the original high-order integral agent's state, if and only if all roots of the polynomial, whose coefficients are the entries of the gain vector associated with the relative (estimated) states between agents, are in the open left-half complex plane. Therefore, many analysis techniques in the first-order integral multi-agent system can be directly borrowed to solve the problems in the high-order integral multi-agent system. Due to this property, it is proved that to reach a consensus, the switching directed topology of multi-agent system is only required to be uniformly jointly quasi-strongly connected', which seems the mildest connectivity condition in the literature. In addition, the consensus problem of discrete-time high-order integral multi-agent systems is studied. The corresponding consensus protocol and performance analysis are presented. Finally, three simulation examples are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper proposes a novel budget model based on differential game to deal with budget allocation in competitive search advertisements under a finite time horizon, with consideration of budget constraints. We extend the advertising response function with the dynamical advertising effort u and quality score q to fit search advertising scenarios. We also discuss Nash equilibriums of our model, and study some desirable properties of two kinds of equilibriums in the case with budget constraints: "budget-stable" open-loop Nash equilibrium (BS-OLNE) and "budget-unstable" open-loop Nash equilibrium (BUS-OLNE). We have evaluated our budget model and identified properties with computational experiments. Experimental results show that budget strategies with dynamical advertising elasticity are superior to those with fixed one and our findings on OLNEs are helpful for advertisers to make budget decisions.

In recent years,the introduction of Siamese network has brought new vitality to the object tracking ***,high-performance Siamese trackers cannot run at a real-time speed on mobile devices due to their complex and huge *** distillation is a common and effective model compression method,but it is difficult to be applied to the challenging task like object *** find out the fundamental cause is that the imbalance between the foreground and background in the object tracking task,which aggravates the problem of insufficient feature extraction ability of small ***,we propose the attention mask distillation(AMD) to help the student tracker focus on the foreground area faster and more *** attention mask can be easily obtained from the feature maps and brings fine-granularity to the traditional binary *** experimental results on OTB100 and VOT2018 show that our method enables the student tracker perform as well as the teacher *** the same time,it's able to run on the CPU at a hyper-real-time of 66 fps and achieves nearly 9 times model compression *** low computational and storage costs make it possible to deploy high-performance trackers on resource-constrained platforms.
