with the society's demands for talents with critical thinking, creative design ability, self-confidence and adaptive ability in the intelligent age, science education in primary and secondary schools has become the focus all over the world. However, in china there are very few scientific practice activities that can lead students to experience the real scientific research process, master the scientific research method, hone the scientific spirit, and feel science essence. In this paper, firstly, the development process of the essence of science was reviewed. Secondly, a new design of science education course in the intelligent age was proposed based on the practical experience of intelligent science and technolo innovation education system of Qingdao Academy of intelligent Industries. Thirdly, four suggestions on design of science courses were given and examples were shown based on the new design. The result showed that the courses can guide students to experience scientific research processes and to master scientific research methods from both ways of thinking and specific scientific methods. The core of this design is science education course should enable students to master scientific research methods, feel the essence of science, hone the spirit of science, and internalize scientific thinking through scientific practice course.

In this modern era, technology has advanced to such an extent to make our daily life more proficient and convenient. This paper presents the design and implementation of vending machine (VM) for students, which operates on radio frequency identification technology (RFID). Hence, it turns the VM into smart shopping booth (SSB). The SSB gives the access only through RFID card and vend different products according to the desire of student. The SSB is equipped with RFID reader and student identity card that holds the RFID tag. When the student identity card is scanned for verification and then after selecting the required products, will be dispensed off if a student has availab.e balance in his/her identity card and SMS will be sent to students about remaining balance in their cards by GSM technology. The programming for controller is done by using proton IDE language. The SSB is the customized idea of vending machine and it attempts to resolve various issues that appeared in coin/note based VM. The student identity card RFID based technology is a breakthrough towards a paperless and cashless environment. Moreover, it is very beneficial in saving the precious time of students due to fast paced life and also user friendly. RFID based SSB also improved the communication and sensing capabilities of VM. Hence, our suggested approach outperforms in all aspects.

This paper attempts to propose a new solution to the event-triggered fault detection problem for discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems in a network environment. First, for the original Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy system, our focus is on constructing a new based-network residual system, considering the event-triggering mechanism, interval time-varying delays, and packet dropouts. Under the established system, a less conservative basis-dependent stability condition is obtained by using the reciprocally convex technique, which ensures that the corresponding residual system is mean-square asymptotically stable with a given H-infinity performance. Second, the desired fuzzy-rule-dependent fault detector and the controller scheme are established using a variable substitution approach. Furthermore, these criteria can be transformed into convex optimization problems and then calculated by the standard optimization toolbox. Finally, the advantages of the proposed fault detector and controller coordinated design technique are illustrated by the simulation results.

The need to integrate the ever-expanding body of knowledge in the plant sciences has led to the development of sophisticated modelling approaches. This special issue focuses on functional-structural plant (FSP) models, which are the result of cross-fertilization between the domains of plant science, computer science and mathematics. FSP models simulate growth and morphology of individual plants that interact with their environment, from which complex plant community properties emerge. FSP models can be used for a broad range of research questions across disciplines related to plant science. This special issue presents the latest developments in FSP modelling, including the novel incorporation of plant ecophysiological concepts and the application of FSP models to address new scientific questions. Additionally, it illustrates the breadth of model evaluation approaches that are performed. FSP modelling is a very active domain of plant research which brings together a wide range of scientific disciplines. It offers the opportunity to address questions in complex plant systems that cannot be addressed by empirical approaches alone, including questions on fundamental concepts related to plant development such as regulation of morphogenesis, as well as on applied concepts such as the relationship between crop performance and plant competition for resources.

Object detection plays an important role in intelligent transportation systems and intelligent vehicles. Although the topic of object detection has been studied for decades, it is still challenging to accurately detect objects under complex scenarios. The contributing factors for challenges include diversified object and background appearance, motion blur, adverse weather conditions, and complex interactions among objects. In this paper, we propose a new convolutional neural network (CNN) model for traffic object detection, by using multi-scale local and global feature representation (MFR). The proposed model consists of two components: a region proposal network that generates candidate object regions and an object detection network that incorporates multi-scale features and global information, namely MFR-CNN. These two components are jointly optimized. Once the system is trained, it can detect real-world traffic objects accurately, especially small objects and heavily occluded objects. We evaluate the proposed method on four benchmark datasets, achieving consistent improvements over the state of the art.

Artificial Society is an analytical foundation of various complex eco- and social systems. Such system is usually implemented via multiagent approach. However, there is no consensus on how to model the agent's decision-making process, since different application scenarios concentrate on different facets. This, to some extent, hinders model reuse and system integration. This paper proposes a general cognitive architecture that attempts to adapt all the aspects of agent's decision-making in artificial societies, so that different programs and software can be reorganized and integrated conveniently. To illustrate its implementation, two simulations-emergent evacuation and population evolution-are conducted. These tests clearly show that the proposed architecture is able to support different agent-based models. Problems that might be encountered, as well as possible strategies, are also proposed in the end.

3D display has become increasingly popular in many fields. It can provide incredible immersion compared with 2D display. There are many researches referring to the change of user about no matter subjective experience or objective physiology signal while watching 3D content. Similarly, in this paper, we study the variation of user’s EEG when the user watched 3D content. However, we only focus on parallax cue and avoid other cues of 3D content by using Random Dot Stereogram(RDS) as visual stimulus. We designed an experiment which asked the subject to watch RDS with nine kinds of parallaxes(0,±0.5,±1.1,±1.3,±1.7). The users watched one RDS for 1 minute and then closed eyes and rest for 1 minute every time. During watching, EEG signal with 30-channel was recorded. The result suggests that significant variation of the user’s EEG data occurred in the Alpha(8-13Hz) and Beta(14-30Hz) frequency band by different parallax’s comparison. And we found not only parallax but also electrode position can impact the user’s EEG data significantly. Accurately, the EEG data has a significant change in six electrodes position in both frequency bands including CZ 、 PZ 、 OZ 、 O2 in international 10-20 system. It means those electrode positions we detect can be regarded as typical positions where we record EEG signal. It will simplify the process of EEG signal acquisition when we need to study the relationship between parallax cue of 3D display and the user further. © 2018 SID.

New IT (intelligent Technology) era calls for a new generation of lifelong-learning talents with scientific literacy, humanistic literacy and sound personality. Development of intelligent technology has changed organization of knowledge, interactions among new generation of learners and way of learning and living, and even social organization and social structure, which brings big challenges to current educational ideas, methods and models. Constructivism as a popular educational theory, has been applied ever since it was introduced into China. But most focuses more on knowledge construction and less on personality construction, and separate these two constructions from each other. So based on combing development of constructivism, and absorbing achievements of personality psychology, this paper puts forward system construction based on knowledge construction and personality construction. Introducing ACP (Artificial systems, Computational experiments, Parallel execution) approach toward CPSS (Cyber-Physical-Social systems), this paper proposes parallel education system framework under perspective of system construction to explore feasible way to cultivate new generation of talents.

To improve the accuracy of diagnosis and the effectiveness of treatment, a framework of parallel healthcare systems (PHSs) based on the artificial systems + computational experiments + parallel execution (ACP) approach is proposed in this paper. PHS uses artificial healthcare systems to model and represent patient's conditions, diagnosis, and treatment process, then applies computational experiments to analyze and evaluate various therapeutic regimens, and implements parallel execution for decision-making support and real-time optimization in both actual and artificial healthcare processes. In addition, we combine the emerging blockchain technology with PHS, via constructing a consortium blockchain linking patients, hospitals, health bureaus, and healthcare communities for comprehensive healthcare data sharing, medical records review, and care auditability. Finally, a prototype named parallel gout diagnosis and treatment system is built and deployed to verify and demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the blockchain-powered PHS framework.
