A Probabilistic Mechanism Design for Online Auctions

Recently, there has been a rapid growth of the online auctions in e-commerce platforms, in which small and/or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) heavily depend on the advertising systems. In this paper, we design flexible mechanisms to reduce the competition of SMEs without affecting competitive large companies in order to maximize the profit of e-commerce platform and to keep the ecosystem healthy. A probabilistic pricing mechanism design approach is investigated for online auctions. Utilizing this approach, we introduce the notation of simple mechanisms as a tool for designing new mechanisms. Based on a simple and a classical, the proposed mechanism probabilistic mechanisms are designed and their properties are analyzed. Furthermore, we devise two mechanism design algorithms for different application scenarios. Experiments are presented to demonstrate the flexibility and the effectiveness of the proposed probabilistic mechanism design approach.

Broad Learning System Hi proposed recently demonstrates efficient and effective learning capability. This model is also proved to be suitable for incremental learning algorithms by taking the advantages of random vector flat neural networks. In this paper, a modified BLS structure based on the K-means feature extraction is developed. Compared with the original broad learning system, acceptable performance on more complicated data set, such as CIFAR-10, is achieved. Furthermore, it is proved that the proposed model in Hi is flexible and potential in various applications.

Recently, clustering illustrates its importance in knowledge discovery. However, most of the considered algorithms are efficient only on those linear separable datasets. Although the kernel based methods perform better with non-linear separable ones, at the same time, they are suffered from the missing of priority knowledge of a suitable kernel. Two latest methods which approximate date to infinity dimensional kernel feature spaces are considered in this paper. Furthermore, new attribute multi kernel weighted fuzzy c-means are proposed by combining the randomly projected features. From the experiments shown in the simulation section, we conclude that we develop an improved version of attribute multi-kernel weighted fuzzy c-means, which achieves better accuracy.

Artificial transportation system is critical to parallel transportation management. At its kernel is the agent-based computation which simulates individual's travel behaviors via disaggregated models and "grows" complex traffic scenarios for computational experiments. However, as a common problem, there still lacks a general calibration method for its agent travel behavioral models. Motivated by this, the paper proposes a calibration method for agent-based travel model in artificial system, which correlates macro traffic data with micro behavioral model parameters. The behavioral model is calibrated by two data sources from real urban transportation: link traffic counts and Automatic Vehicle Identification data. Our results indicate that the proposed method can help receive a reasonable model and be applied in general calibration problems.

Real time bidding (RTB) has become an emerging online advertising with the development of Internet big data in recent years. In the whole RTB ecosystem, the Demand Side Platform (DSP) plays a central role, and it realizes the programmatic and accurate buying of the advertisements for the advertisers via a two-stage auction. In RTB business logics, DSP plays as an intermediary between the advertisers and the center platform. Due to the principle-agent relationship between the advertisers and the DSP, the DSP aims not only to maximize the revenue for the advertisers, but also gain its revenue in this process. So far there are two revenue modes for DSP, namely the two-stage resale model and the commission model, respectively. In this paper, we mainly consider the revenue model for DSP in RTB advertising market. We aim to study the properties of the two revenue models, and compare the revenues for the DSP and the advertisers under these two models. We also provide an example to illustrate our proposed models and their properties. The results show that under small ratio of the commission, the advertisers are more likely to choose the commission model, but the DSP is more likely to choose the two-stage resale model and set a larger weight, while under large ratio of the commission, the advertisers are more likely to choose the two-stage resale model, but the DSP is more likely to choose the commission model. Our research work highlights the importance of the revenue model on the revenues of the advertisers and the DSP, and is intended to provide a useful reference for DSPs in RTB advertising markets.

There exist some obstacles to realize high precision positioning with using the position differential technique due to the limiting factors. However, with the advancement of chip performance and the establishment of multiple satellite navigation systems, position differential positioning can be realized to meet the civilian high-precision positioning demand while significantly reducing costs. This paper is to explore the engineering application and propose a new method. Through the experiments and data analysis, we have found the error correlation between two receivers in a small area and designed a set of positioning system, and programmed in the Keil mu Vision5 in C language. The system consists of the current mainstream low-cost STM32, UBLOX NEO 6M chip, NRF24L01 chip, GPS antenna and power supply module. Each two receivers can form a differential positioning system. At present, the system in the low-speed status is, in the urban environment, basically reaching within 0.5 - 3 m of the positioning error.

With the abundance of online big data and computing resources, as well as the rapid development and diversification of business models, programmatic advertising (PA) has emerged and become the mainstream and one of the most promising advertising channels in recent years. As an effective way to precision marketing, PA relies heavily on the information elicited from analyzing Web users and pages, which can help advertisers precisely identify their best-matched audiences and evaluate the ad impressions in a real-time fashion. In PA markets, publishers serve as the supplier of ad impressions, and have control on whether, what and how to reveal such key information to advertisers. These decisions play a central role in the information structure of data-driven PA markets, and attract intensive research interests. In this paper, we strive to investigate publishers' rational preference over the symmetric and asymmetric information structures, with the aim of maximizing their revenues. Our model views publishers' revenue as a function of the information structure among advertisers, and we hereby proved its convexity under an incentive compatible mechanism This conclusion indicates that publishers prefer an asymmetric information structure rather than a symmetric one. Our research findings can help improve publishers' revenue, and also can explain the underlying rationale for the hybrid PA markets mixed by public real-time bidding and private marketplaces. Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), as an important component of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), have been attracting more and more research interests for their various promising applications. Although various MAC protocols have been proposed, efficient medium access remains a significant challenge in VANETs, especially in improving the network throughput in heavy traffic vehicular networks. In this paper, we propose an interference-free graph based time-division multiple access (IG-TDMA) protocol for VANETs. In the proposed protocol, roadside units (RSUs), as centralized controllers, collect the information from active vehicles and construct the interference-free graph based on the vehicle locations and a preset interference-free threshold. We further propose a communication link selection algorithm, which can help the RSUs make efficient and effective scheduling decisions with high spatial reuse efficiency and low computational complexity. Simulations verify that the proposed IG-TDMA protocol can improve the network performance significantly compared with the IEEE 802.11p CSMA/CA based EDCA scheme and traditional TDMA protocol.

As a fundamental yet urgent issue, achieving high-precision robotic manipulation is becoming an active research area. Unfortunately, it is practically impossible to obtain an unlimited increase in sensor accuracy. In contrast, sensor-less manipulation approaches have attracted considerable attention. In particular, the concept of attractive region in environment has achieved encouraging results. Moreover, note that certain information cannot be captured directly from the sensors. With the above observations and inspired by the behaviour mechanism of human beings when accomplishing complex operations, this article proposed a novel bio-inspired co-sensing framework, which aims to solve the high-precision sensing problem by simple coarse sensors. One of the distinguishing features of the established framework is the constrained region in environment, the key idea of which is the integration of the relaxed constraint and the coarse sensor information. An illustrative example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and benefits of our theoretical findings.
