In this paper, a novel visual tracking algorithm that uses the target salient confidence (TSC) is proposed. Two contributions are summarized as follows. First, we put forward a novel target salient confidence (TSC) model which combines the static saliency map (SSM) based on the selective visual attention model, motion attention map (MAP) and the target prior confidence (TPC). Second, we propose to use the target salient confidence for particle filter. It manipulates the distribution expressed by the particle cloud towards a better match with the target salient confidence model. In this way particle sampling can be locked on those regions with higher target salient confidence. Experiments in some video sequences show that the target salient confidence is useful for visual tracking and our algorithm is effective.

An overview of the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is presented in this talk. Ever since ADRC was proposed by Jingqing Han in 1990s[1]1, it has become quite an attractive methodology to applied researchers, even though rigorous theoretical justification was lagging behind for quite some time. The fact that ADRC possesses certain uniqueness in concepts, simplicity in engineering implementation, and superior actual performance allowed it to be readily translated into a valuable asset in engineering practice: namely, the ability in dealing with a vast range of uncertainties, improved transient response, easy implementation and energy savings, to name but a few. The range of applications seems broad, covering almost all domains of control engineering, such as motion control, speed control of induction motor and permanent-magnet synchronous motor, control for noncircular turning process, low-velocity compensation of brushless DC servo, robotic system, underactuated mechanical systems, micro-electro-mechanical systems gyroscope, control for superconducting RF cavities, flight control, attitude tracking of rigid spacecraft, web tension regulation, DC-DC power converter, chemical processes, ALSTOM gasifier benchmark problem, the boilerturbine-generator controlsystems, stabilization of axial flow compressors, the fractional-order system, etc. [10]-[31]. Subspace clustering is a powerful technology for clustering data according to the underlying subspaces. Representation based methods are the most popular subspace clustering approach in recent years. In this paper, we analyze the grouping effect of representation based methods in depth. In particular, we introduce the enforced grouping effect conditions, which greatly facilitate the analysis of grouping effect. We further find that grouping effect is important for subspace clustering, which should be explicitly enforced in the data self-representation model, rather than implicitly implied by the model as in some prior work. Based on our analysis, we propose the SMooth Representation (SMR) model. We also propose a new affinity measure based on the grouping effect, which proves to be much more effective than the commonly used one. As a result, our SMR significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art ones on benchmark datasets.

Communication-Based Train control (CBTC) system is an automated train control system using bidirectional train-ground communications to ensure the safe operation of rail vehicles. Due to unreliable wireless communications and frequent handoff, existing CBTC systems can severely affect train control performance. In this paper, we use recent advances in Coordinated Multi-Point transmission and reception (CoMP) to enhance the train control performance of CBTC systems. In addition, unlike the exiting works on CoMP, linear quadratic cost for the train control performance in CBTC systems is considered as the performance measure. Moreover, we propose an optimal guidance trajectory calculation scheme in the train control procedure that takes full consideration of the tracking error caused by handoff latency. Simulation results show that the train control performance can be improved substantially in our proposed CBTC system with CoMP.
