Micro-motion is one of the most important features for radar target recognition. Firstly, the bistatic micro- Doppler models corresponding to the bistatic scattering centers of the precession targets are derived. Then, The dynamic simulation method of the bistatic echo of the precession target is presented using the bistatic scattering coefficients obtained via electromagnetic calculations, and the bistatic scattering coefficients of the blunt-nosed biconical model are calculated using the multilevel fast multipole method. Finally, the theoretic analysis is verified by comparing the time- frequency distribution of the bistatic echo sequences with the theoretical bistatic micro-Doppler. This research is helpful for utilizing the bistatic micro- Doppler for feature extraction and recognition of spatial micro-motion targets. © 2016 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel categorization framework to recognize tactile sequences based on two particular properties of the tactile data. For the first one, tactile sequences are spatio-temporal data which is sequential and dynamic, depicting the process of grasping an object in different grasping stages;therefore, it is reasonable to discover the dynamical pattern by modeling tactile data as integral sequences rather than individual frames. For the second one, a tactile sequence contains various dynamical patterns in different stages of the grasping process;therefore, we decompose the whole sequence into multiple mini-sequences so as to enhance feature resolution. To address both properties in our framework, we take advantage of a Bag-of-system model using parameters of the Linear Dynamic system (LDS) as feature descriptors. Moreover, we employ the LDS with Symmetric Transition matrix (LDSST) rather than the original LDS as the building-block in order to obtain accurate codewords of the codebook of the Bag-of-system. The performance of our framework is evaluated on six real-world databases of three groups. Our experiments show that classification using LDSST is better than the original LDS, and the decomposition of tactile sequences does improve the accuracy of classification. The experiment results also show the superiority of our framework in comparison with other state-of-the-art sequence classifiers.

Data analysis plays an important role in the development of intelligent energy networks (IENs). This article reviews and discusses the application of data analysis methods for energy big data. The installation of smart energy meters has provided a huge volume of data at different time resolutions, suggesting data analysis is required for clustering, demand forecasting, energy generation optimization, energy pricing, monitoring and diagnostics. The currently adopted data analysis technologies for IENs include pattern recognition, machine learning, data mining, statistics methods, etc. However, existing methods for data analysis cannot fully meet the requirements for processing the big data produced by the IENs and, therefore, more comprehensive data analysis methods are needed to handle the increasing amount of data and to mine more valuable information. Learning rich representations efficiently plays an important role in multi-modal recognition task, which is crucial to achieve high generalization performance. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose an effective Multi-Modal Local Receptive Field Extreme Learning Machine (MM-ELM-LRF) structure, while maintaining ELM's advantages of training efficiency. In this structure, ELM-LRF is firstly conducted for feature extraction for each modality separately. And then, the shared layer is developed by combining these features from each modality. Finally, the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) is used as supervised feature classifier for the final decision. Experimental validation on Washington RGB-D Object Dataset illustrates that the proposed multiple modality fusion method achieves better recognition performance.

Customized/personalized products are gaining more shares in today's product market. Such products need collective efforts from consumers, manufacturers and third parties. On the other side, the Internet of Things (IoT) with pervasive sensing/actuating/networking ability greatly facilitates remote operation of manufacturing activities and efficient collab.ration among stakeholders. This provides great opportunities to the above demand. Thus we propose a full-connection model of product lifecycle in the IoT-enabled cloud manufacturing environment. The model uses social networks to connect multiple parties and facilitate open innovations, IoT to glue physical space to cyber space and cloud manufacturing to provide various elastic services, so that the on-demand workspace, interaction, information sharing or collective problem solving are enabled. We also propose a supporting infrastructure for this model using the latest information and communication technologies. Finally, we present a RFID (Radio-frequency identification) enabled production system for customized/personalized products with the ability to enable a new paradigm of 'dynamic processes and close collab.rations among different roles' and secure robust production. © 2016 IEEE.

The accuracy of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) navigation system determines whether they can safely operate and return. Traditional Dead-reckoning (DR) relies on the inertial sensors such as gyroscope and accelerometer. A major challenge for DR navigation is from measurement error of the inertial sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, etc.), especially when the AUV is near or at the ocean surface. The AUV's motion is affected by ocean waves, and its pitch angle changes rapidly with the waves. This rapid change and the measurement errors will cause great noise to the direction measured by gyroscopes, and then lead to a large error to the DR navigation. To address this problem, a novel DR method based on neural network (DR-N) is proposed to explore the time-varying relationship between acceleration measurement and orientation measurement, which leverages acoustic localization and neural network estimate timely pitch angle through the explored time-varying relationship. This method enables AUV's DR navigation with a single acceleration, without relying on both acceleration and gyroscope. Most importantly, we can improve the accuracy of AUV navigation through avoiding DR errors caused by gyroscope noise at the sea surface. Simulations show DR-N significantly improves navigation accuracy.

When redundant manipulators work in a complex environment, many constraints need to be met. Gradient projection method (GPM) is a typical way to fulfil constraints that does not affect the main task. However it's difficult to fulfil all the restrictions simultaneously. In this paper, the Jacobian matrix for constraints is proposed and an extended Jacobian matrix form equivalent to the GPM is obtained. Then the multi-objective compliance control scheme is applied to the extended Jacobian matrix form to ensure that the main task and multi-constraints are fulfilled simultaneously. At last we test this scheme in a sixdegree-of-freedom (6-DOF) manipulator and the simulation results confirm our conclusions. © 2016, Fuji technology Press. All rights reserved.

Seal is one of the most important characteristics for cylinders and suitable seal configuration will guarantee the long life cycle of the seal and the cylinder. Experiment is the only way which can demonstrate the best seal configuration in applications. In this paper, one approach is brought forward for testing the seal performance of cylinders with different seals configurations at the same load working condition for saving the test time. In the test-rig, the synchronization of cylinders is one of the key technologies. The test system is modelled in the AMESim software. The effect caused by the changes of the different physical parameters is analyzed, such as load stiffness, viscous damping coefficient of cylinder, dead volume of cylinder and internal leakage coefficient. The experiment is carried out and test results agree with the simulation results. Finally, the appropriate solution is proposed for improving the synchronization of the multi-cylinders further.
