Vertex importance ranking with considering structural difference of urban transportation network models

Vertex importance ranking is one of fundamental works for traffic management of urban transportation networks. The computation of vertex importance is tightly dependent on the efficiency evaluation of networks. Therefore, this paper discusses the efficiency evaluation according to the primary characteristics of urban transportation systems and proposes the efficiency evaluation methods for the infrastructure networks and the dynamic transportation networks. Furthermore, the structural difference of vertices is introduced to describe the deviation of the vertex importance in the dynamic transportation networks from the ones in the infrastructure networks. We adopt both the index of vertex importance and the index of vertex structural difference to rank vertices. And the example shows the work covered in this paper is reasonably efficient and gives a promising way for supporting traffic control and management decision-making strategies. 1553-9105/Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Accurate and reliable information on land use is a basis of agricultural disaster warning and emergency action. The natural disasters typhoon, cold disaster, drought, and so on, have great influences on agricultural production in Guangdong Province, China. Through literature analysis at home and abroad, it was pointed out that Chinese HJ satellites have become important sources of remote sensing images due to short imaging period and broad coverage (about 2 days and 700km). It also advances the free sharing of OLI data on the new generation of remote sensor of Landsat. Considering the severe orbit deviation and frequent phenology changes of agricultural land use, this paper described and laid emphasis on the necessity and perspective of developing multi-scale (1:500,000, 120,000, 150,000) agricultural land use products of Provincial-City-County within Guangdong through the usage of relatively fixed ground control point database and spectral library based advanced hierarchical classification technologies supported by HJ satellite data. Such a tendency of quick disaster emergency response for land use dynamic implies a technological focus on the usage of above-mentioned advanced HJ satellite technologies. Based on Landsat images, we also built the 11 united ground control points (40 points at most for whole Guangdong Province) and standardized the technology system of land use remote sensing mapping with the combination of spectral library-based hierarchy classification technology. Selected key technologies for enhancing land use production mapping efficiency and accuracy that involve Landsat OLI and HJ satellites are presented and discussed. The HJ satellite is an effective information source for land use dynamic mapping under emergency action such as disaster damage evaluation, which can provide a short imaging period with wide spatial coverage and enhance the ability of land use data acquirement from one to three or four times or so in one year. In this paper, we focus on the need for autonomous vehicles' path planning and decision making in the urban environment. In our modified method, traffic lanes, road edge and geographic information system(GIS) are integrated to generate three structured road models, which can be used to reduce car's lateral positioning error and guarantee car's driving stably without a precise pre-computed map for localization. Based on these models, car's position, attitude and speed are taken into account to find an optimal guided path and a suitable behavior strategy to keep our car obeying traffic rules. Thus, in the whole architecture, the instability of some modules' detection results and low positioning accuracy of GPS receiver is resolved. Applied to our autonomous vehicle - IN 2 BOT, which has taken part in "Chinese intelligent Vehicle Challenge" for many times, this method is proved more effective than our previous method after experiments under various conditions.

In this paper, a human robot shared control strategy is developed and tested on a Baxter robot. Using the proposed method, the human operator only needs to consider the motion of the end-effector of the manipulator, while the manipulator will avoid obstacle by itself without sacrificing the end effector motion performance. An improved obstacle avoidance strategy based on the joint space redundancy of the manipulator is designed. A dimension reduction method is presented to solve the over defined problem of avoiding velocity to achieve a more efficient use of the redundancy. By employment of an artificial parallel system of the teleoperate manipulator and the task switching weighting factor, the proposed control method enable the robot restoring back to the commanded pose smoothly when the obstacle is removed. By implementing the dimension reduction method, the trajectory of each joint of the manipulator can be controlled at the same time to achieve the restoring task. Thus, the proposed control method can eliminate the impact of the obstacle on the remaining task. Satisfactory experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

As having the imaging ability of area in front of flight direction, forward-looking synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has become a hot topic in areas of SAR research. Nevertheless, the currently exploited imaging algorithms of forward-looking SAR suffer from poor azimuth resolution induced by limited azimuth aperture length. To address this challenge, we develop a super-resolving imaging algorithm for forward-looking SAR based on compressive sensing theory. Firstly, the spatial geometry and signal model of forward-looking SAR is analyzed. After that, the compressive sensing theory is introduced to improve azimuth resolution. Imaging simulations based on Ku-band image data from the MiniSAR system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2014 IEEE.

Despite numerous efforts on blur measurement of partially blurred images, there still lacks an effective blur measure that is both pixel-wise and locally sharp consistent. The paper proposes a novel method with two contributions to overcome this limitation: 1) A new pixel-based blur metric, Multi-resolution Singular Value (MSV), which leverages the average singular value of high frequency bands to measure the blur of each pixel, and 2) a locally continuous strategy, maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE) based refinement, that ensures local continuity by imposing the local sharp consistency on pixel blur in a local correcting process. Experimental results show that our method is effective to smoothly measure the partially blurred images without local discontinuity. © 2014 IEEE.

According to the problem of not making full use of the road resources and not adapting the changeable traffic situation based on the traffic lights with the fixed cycle and the fixed phase sequence, this paper defines a kind of Fuzzy Hybrid Petri nets (FHPN) to simulate the real-time control for the traffic signal. The traffic signal control based on the Fuzzy Hybrid Petri nets not only can compute the best green light duration of each phase in time but also can determine the reasonable and alterable phase sequence. The simulation analysis shows that the real-time traffic signal control based on the Fuzzy Hybrid Petri nets can reduce furthest the count of the vehicle second stops, so the average delay time of the vehicles and the passengers can be reduced. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

Requirements Elicitation (RE) is a critical process in system/software engineering. Its goal is to capture the stakeholders expectations, needs and constraints, which can be elicited, analyzed and specified as requirements. Gathering the requirements correctly, clearly and completely in a natural way is a typical challenging problem, because requirements analysts always play key roles in the elicitation process dominantly while stakeholders participate in passively. In this paper, we propose a collective intelligence driven business process oriented requirements acquisition and refining method. Its aim is to reduce the requirements analysts dominance and promote stakeholders self-expression and self-improvement to elicit requirements clearly and completely. It adopts the group storytelling method to promote the collab.ration and communication among stakeholders, utilizes the narrative network model to enhance the associations among story fragments, and introduces dialogue game theory to guide the progressive refining. At the same time, the activity theory is adopted as the description framework to present the method and an application example is introduced. Finally, a pilot experiment is carried out to evaluate its perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use;and the actual quality of the requirements based on the degree of completeness and understandability in comparison with JAD. The results show that the requirements elicited by BPCRAR are more complete and understandable than JAD. In addition, the BPCRAR is perceived usefulness and ease of use in the experiment. © 2014 ACM.

The goal of requirements elicitation is to understand the stakeholders' needs and constraints, and form the system requirements. But gathering requirements correctly, completely and understandably in a natural way is a great challenge to traditional methods, for requirements analysts always play key roles in the elicitation process dominantly while stakeholders participate in passively. Therefore, strategies that help the identification of requirements based on reducing the requirements analysts' dominance and promoting stake-holders' self-expression and self-improvement are welcomed. This paper reports a controlled experiment to evaluate the Business Process oriented Collab.rative Requirements Acquisition and Refining (BPCRAR) method. Compared to JAD, the statistical results show that the requirements elicited by BPCRAR are more complete and understandable. Besides that, the perceived usefulness, ease to learn, and ease of use of BPCRAR are all confirmed by the statistical data got from the questionnaire to the participants. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
