With the rapid advance of computer and network technology, more and more applications are deployed in the customer-side network. These applications require different quality of service (QoS), but have to share a few bandwidth limited internet connections. Owing to the IP network's best-effort delivery mechanism, the QoS requirements are hard to be satisfied. There have been plenty of QoS solutions in research and industry areas, however, few of them are easy to understand or to deploy. Therefore, we provide a solution, based on a simple and clear model, has the ability of transparently deployed at the inner side of customer's gateway device and controlled in the application-oriented way. We also introduce a straightforward QoS policy definition language to allow user to create QoS rules for various applications. We conduct the evaluation of our proto type system running upon mid-end industrial personal computer under both the lab.testbed and the practical network. In the lab.test, our system achieves 200Mbps throughput, in the practical field test, our system successfully manages a 100Mbps internet link for over 3000 active users. © 2009 IEEE.

A fuzzy clustering is one of important and valid methods to knowledge discovery. One of problems in fuzzy clustering is to determine a certain fuzzy sample classification in given limited sample space. Another is its validity, that is to say, if the sample is resemble in sample space, its fuzzy type will be resemble too. In our research, firstly, using triangle arithmetic operator and triangle transference, we extend fuzzy equivalence relationship to fuzzy closeness relationship, and cluster. Secondly, importing fuzzy coverage based on fuzzy closeness relationship, we judge resemble type of resemble sample. Thirdly, we introduce the clustering method based on fuzzy closeness relationship and fuzzy coverage. The method can overcome information more loss in fuzzy equivalence. Finally, evaluating its validity, we test its feasibility. The method above is applied to knowledge discovery for electronic commerce on Internet, we have got good result. © 2009 IEEE.

This paper presents a hybrid short-term traffic flow forecast technology. For the uncertainty, the short-term traffic flow forecast is complicated, and the accuracy is not high. This strategy combines the RBF neural network and ant colony clustering algorithm to forecast the traffic flow. It used ant colony clustering algorithm to get the centers of hidden layer neurons. To find the best clustering result, local search is used in ant colony algorithm. The model has strong local generalization abilities and high accuracy. The simulation experiment results illuminate that the application is fairly effective. © 2009 IEEE.

Along with the rapid growth of the number of the availab.e web services over the internet, the quality of services (Qos) becomes an imperative concern for service consumers and providers. How to differentiate their quality based on Qos criteria at web service level is a challenging issue. Considering that evolutionary algorithm has powerful ability of searching information, a new web service composition model under improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is presented in this paper. According to the non-functional attributes Qos of services, the model can select web services with optimal Qos and compose them into value-added web services. Furthermore, IPSO model not only can find the service with optimal Qos immediately but also can overcome the bottleneck of the standard PSO model. It can balance the exploitation and exploration and avoid premature convergence to some extent. As a result, web services can be invocated dynamically and be composed automatically and efficiently. The preliminary experimental results indicate that the web service composition approach based on IPSO model is applicable and feasible to the optimization of general service compositions. ©2009 IEEE.

This paper proposes the MDMA (Multi-dimensional Distributed Mining Association rules) algorithm based on advanced SQL query. The algorithm works on star-style structure networks. It uses CUBE operator in new standard SQL and combines with SQL powerful query function. So there is no need for the proposed algorithm to conduct a great deal of iterations to generate frequent itemsets in the process of mining association rules. Therefore, no matter what the number of the site in the distributed environments and the scale of the local database in the local site is, the algorithm always needs only two times of scanning the database and only three times of network communications to generate all the global frequent itemsets. Consequently, this algorithm has the merits of light network traffic, low time cost, better scalab.lity and more simplicity. © 2009 IEEE.

In allusion to the boundary leaking problem of traditional active contours when used to extract facial features, two kinds of local information are introduced to enhance the weak boundary, then to build new external force for active contours. The prior knowledge of the local shape of the facial features is incorporated into the evolution of active contour. The snake contour in each evolution step just serves as prediction, and then is ruled by the prior local shape;this way, the snake contour deforms via prediction-correction two steps. This two-step-deformation (TSD) snake can utilize the a priori shape of objects effectively. The proposed strategies are evaluated on several images and the experimental results validate the high performance of this TSD snake for facial features segmentation. ©2009 IEEE.

A Strategy for the Integration of Production Planning and Scheduling in Refineries under Uncertainty

A strategy for the integration of production planning and scheduling in refineries is proposed. This strategy relies on rolling horizon strategy and a two-level decomposition strategy. This strategy involves an upper level multiperiod mixed integer linear programming （MILP） model and a lower level simulation system, which is extended from our previous framework for short-term scheduling problems [Luo, C.E, Rong, G, ＂Hierarchical apthis extended framework is to reduce the number of variables and the size of the optimization model and, to quickly find the optimal solution for the integrated planning/scheduling problem in refineries. Uncertainties are also considered in this article. An integrated robust optimization approach is introduced to cope with uncertain parameters with both continuous and discrete probability distribution.

Epidemic spreading with variant infection rates on scale-free network

In this paper, we proposed a susceptible-infected model with variant infection rates because different individuals have different resistance to diseases in different periods of real epidemic events. We consider two cases: Case 1, we know every individual's infection rate to a kind of epidemic, satisfy a type of distribution. Case 2, assume all individuals have same initial infection rates, a susceptible individual's infection rate will be less than the initial rate if he is not infected after limited number of contacts with infected ones. For both two cases, at the time tD, preventive and control measures bring into effects, every individual's infection rate would decrease. We implemented this models on scale-free networks, and found that the epidemic process before the time tD in Case 1 is almost the same as that in Standard SI model if the infection rate in Standard SI model equals the mean infection rate in Case 1. Furthermore, using numerical simulation, we analysis the effects of the parameter tD, and find the bimodal distribution of final infection rates. Finally, we conclude what we get in this paper and give our future direction. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

Electric power, potable water, telecommunications, natural gas, and transportation are examples of critical infrastructures, the intrinsic feature of which are suitable for network analysis. This paper proposes a method framework based on the complex network to explore the interdependency of these infrastructures. We describe the topological characterization of two interdependent small-sized real networks, based on which the interdependent model is devised. We define the interdependent factor to characterize the direct interdependency of two infrastructures, and also its fluctuation in the situations of random removal and targeted removal on the electric and water infrastructures is studied. Furthermore we propose a matrix M to reflect all direct and indirect interactions among infrastructures, which also makes contributions to the understanding of infrastructures catastrophes. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.

Based on geographical and semantic features of remote sensing image, the paper presents a universal remote sensing image data model, and analyzes the logical structure and storage methods of this model. Based on the model, the paper puts forward a remote sensing image retrieval method, and makes analysis of the process of remote sensing image retrieval. At last, on basis of computer and database technology, the method is tested;the test results confirm the validity of the approach. ©2009 IEEE.
