This paper introduces the new qualitative and quantitative methods, which can diagnose breast tumors. Qualitative methods include blood vessel display inside and outside of pathological changes part of breast, display of equivalent pixel curves at the part of pathological changes and display of breast tumor image edge. Accordingly, three feature extraction operators are proposed, i.e. the combination operators of anisotropic gradient and smoothing operator, an improved Sobel operator and an edge sharpening operator. Furthermore, quantitative diagnostic approaches are discussed based on blood and oxygen contents according to abundant clinical data and pathological mechanism of breast tumors. The results of clinic show that the methods of combining qualitative and quantitative diagnose are effective for breast tumor images, especially for early and potential breast cancer

In this review paper, some recent achievements on applications in interconnect, die attach and cooling devices based on nanotechnology approach are presented. The applications are specifically addressing: • Development of nano lead free solder alloys for soldering and ACA interconnect • Development of nano thermal interface material for heat removal applications. • Development of cooling devices based on carbon nanotubes on Si-substrate. The paper also presents the driving forces, fundamental ideas behind this technology, the experimental results as well as the theoretical modeling work achieved so far. It is shown that nanotechnology can potentially revolutionize the electronics packaging and production industry to solve the needs of miniaturization, ultra high density packaging and larger power dissipation.

With rapid growth of web information, to select high quality web pages that cover valuable information query-independently becomes more and more important in web Information Retrieval (IR) research. Based on query-independent feature analysis, a data cleansing algorithm is proposed by selecting an important type of high quality pages (key resources) on the web. Study into the cleansed page set shows that the set contains only 44.3% pages of the whole collection, while involves more than 98% of hyperlinks and covers about 90% of key information. Experiments based on TREC 2003 data show that the cleansed collection outperforms the whole collection by less than a half size and 8% improvement of retrieval performance.

With the development of IC technology, it becomes urgent to investigate model reduction method for interconnects with process variations. In this paper, a one-shot projection algorithm (OPM) is proposed to generate a projection matrix that is independent of statistically varying parameters. As a result, construction of the reduced system can be decoupled with the Monte Carlo analysis in either frequency domain or time domain. Therefore, without loss of accuracy, OPM can obtain a reduced system in much less CPU time compared with the previous perturbation scheme. With the page explosion of WWW, how to cover more useful information with limited storage and computation resources becomes more and more important in web IR research. Using web page non-content feature analysis, we proposed a clustering-based method to select high quality pages from the whole page set. Although the result page set contains only 44.3% of the whole collection, it is related with more than 98% of links and covers about 90% of key information. Link property and retrieval affects are also observed and experiment results show that key resource selection method is more suitable for the job of data cleansing and the result page set outperforms the whole collection by smaller size and better retrieval performance.

This paper is concerned with the optimal controller design of networked control systems (NCSs). Aiming at a class of NCSs, in which network-induced delay and data packet dropout exist simultaneously from sensor to controller, this paper proposes a novel optimal controller based on a new adaptive genetic algorithm and simulated anneal algorithm (AGASA), guaranteed cost controller (GCC) and state feedback controller (SFC). The proposed controller is less conservative than GCC and SFC, and can be applied to both linear and nonlinear NCSs. Two examples are presented to illustrate the proposed controller.
