The size of candidate character set is very important in the contextual post-processing for Chinese character recognition, which should be changed with the script's recognition accuracy of isolated Chinese character recognition. In this paper, based on the confidence theory of candidate character, two methods are proposed to automatically decide the size of candidate character set. In this paper, we present an efficient look-ahead technique based on both the Language Model (LM) Look-Ahead and the Acoustic Model (AM) Look-Ahead, for the time-synchronous beam search in the large vocabulary speech recognition. In this so-call stage based look-ahead (SLA) technique, two predicting processes with different hypothesis evaluating criteria are organized by stages according to the different requirements for pruning the unlikely surviving hypotheses. Furthermore, in order to reduce the efforts for distributing the LM over the lexical tree more effectively, the LM Rank based Pruning (LMRP) is integrated with the extension of each new phoneme node. The recognition experiments performed on the 50k-word Mandarin Dictation task (Easytalk2000) show that a reduction by 10 percents in the search effort in comparison with the standard word-conditioned search using LM look-ahead only, and a reduction of 25 percents in the word error rates in comparison with the search algorithm without any look-ahead can be achieved.

A new method for speech signal reconstruction is proposed by performing a nonlinear Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA). By the use of kernel functions, one can efficiently compute principal components in high-dimensional feature spaces, and reconstruct vectors mapping from input space by those dominant principal components. As the reconstructed vectors is expressed in high dimensional feature space and they could not exist pre-image in input space. For finding pre-image, we use iteration method to approximate the pre-image. The experimental results using KPCA in data reconstruction and denoising in speech signal show that it had many potential advantages comparing with PCA.

A joint speech signal enhancement based on singular value decomposition filter after spectral subtraction (SSVD) is proposed in this paper. The residual noise after spectral subtraction, which results for audible musical noise, is reduced further by SVD filter. The matrix size in spectral domain can be reduced half, and larger step-length adopted by SVD filter in spectral domain leads to lower cost, which make sure that the system can work in real-time. A novel speech/pause detector based on entropy(ESPD) is proposed too. The new detector improves the performance of the whole noise suppression system significantly.

The traditional method based on aerodynamics and expertise for weather forecast focuses on present data, but the historical database is not utilized. The paper presents research on weather forecasting through the historical database. Because the atmosphere pattern is a complex, nonlinear system, the traditional method is not an effective method. The multi-layer neural network is a potent method for resolving this problem. With the backpropagation neural networks the atmosphere pattern is divided into five patterns based on the rainfall. The study of integrated human-machine discussion system for supporting economic decisions requires establishing a computer-supporting environment, which can discover the knowledge about economics from heterogeneous information sources, and then utilize them to provide useful information for the experts in different locations. It also should allow real-time discussion among such economic experts and finally upgrade the overall correctness of economic decisions. ODIIPSA98 (Open Distributed intelligent Information Processing system Architecture '98), a pragmatic structural model of open intelligentsystem, is MAS-based and information (including multi-media information, knowledge and such like) accessing oriented. This paper first introduces the fundamental ideas and design principles of ODIIPSA98, and then moves to the computer supporting system for upgrading economic decisions, in which ODIIPSA98 serves as its basic framework. After some analyzes and comparisons, it is obvious that, such system, established under the instruction of ODIIPSA98, would gradually show its advantages of open, flexibility, reliability, efficiency, and so on.

Real-time path planning is a key subject in the research of a Multi-robot system, such as in soccer robot system, as in such system there are several robots to coordinate to complete one task and its workspace is time-varying. There exist unpredictable changes in such workspace. These changes will make the robots path planning tremendously hard. This paper introduce the study on the real-time planning of a multi-robot system, such as soccer robots system. In such systems, as there exist multiple mobile robots, robots path planning is highly required of real-time and of high path planning quality. In this paper, the definitions of Active Obstacle and Dominating Robot are put forward. Genetic-planning and Fuzzy-correction are developed as our path planning techniques. The concept of Sector Vital Value is proposed for Genetic-planning and Fuzzy-correction. Block-Inserting strategy is employed to further improve the system's real-time performance in the workspace modelization. It takes only 2% of workspace modeling time required by Grid-modeling technique. After taking the proposed measures, the system's real-time performance is improved a lot. The initial simulation shows that our planning strategy can meet real-time demand.
