The short-term hydrothermal scheduling (STHS) is a complex non-linear, non-convex and high-dimensional mathematical optimization problem. Due to the fact that the original chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA) is likely to fall into local optimum and has the disadvantage of low population diversity, an improved chimp optimization algorithm (IChOA) is proposed to solve the STHS problem. Firstly, Logistic-Tent chaotic mapping is employed to initialize the population and increase the population diversity. Then a new nonlinear convergence factor is introduced to make the optimization search process more applicable to STHS problems. Next, particle swarm algorithm (PSO) and gravitational search algorithm (GSA) are combined to enhance the shortcoming and balance the global search ability and local exploration ability of ChOA. Moreover, Cauchy mutation and opposition-based learning strategy are supplemented as perturbation interference when the optimal position is not updated to improve the ability to leap out of the local optimum. Finally, a graded optimization strategy is adopted for the constraint handing of dynamic reservoir balance and thermal power balance. Three standard hydrothermal power systems are utilized to verify the practicability and validity of the proposed method. Results of simulations reveal that IChOA has significant competitive advantages in addressing the STHS problem. © 2022, IAENG International Journal of Computer Science. All Rights Reserved.

Gallium nitride (GaN) has some challenges for gas sensing, such as high detection lower limit (LOD) or controlling the epitaxy of nanostructures. To address these issues, we exclusively designed a device to enhance the gas interaction capabilities of GaN quantum dots (QDs) film fabricated by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The GaN QDs film gas sensor exhibited a low LOD (5 ppb) to NO2 at room temperature (RT), which has much superior gas performance than other GaN-based sensors. The results manifest that many ultra-small QDs around 2 nm in diameter are stacked to form QDs of larger size, and confirm the existence of vacancies. The sensor displays a ultra-high electron mobility of 1237.37 cm2 V−1s−1, demonstrate that great shallow donor impurities in GaN QDs film that ionize easily at RT, which is greatly beneficial for gas sensing. The sensing mechanisms were analyzed based on its abundant active sites, ultrahigh carrier mobility, high surface energy and chemical activity, grain boundary barrier and good electrical conductivity. Moreover, the sensor processes high selectivity, repeatability, stability and reusability based on MOCVD technology which can realize precise control of structure, morphology and surface energy level, which is expected to achieve rapid industrialization. © 2022, The Authors. With the rapid growth of the penetration rate of renewable energy, the construction of Integrated electricity-natural gas system (IEGS) has important economic and environmental significance. Power-to-gas (P2G) technology, as a new energy conversion and storage method, provides an important way for wind power consumption. Due to the limited local consumption of hydrogen energy and difficulty in exporting, this paper proposes an IEGS optimal scheduling model that considers hydrogen mixing in natural gas pipeline and aims at the lowest system operating cost. After the verification of the improved IEEE 14-node power network and the Belgian 20-node natural gas network coupling system, the operation mode of the IEGS proposed in this paper can expand the hydrogen demand, increase the hydrogen transmission capacity, and promote wind power consumption. At the same time, it can achieve carbon emission reduction and improve the economics of system operation.

Compared with direct thrust control and vector control methods, the model predictive control (MPC) is recognized as a more effective approach. However, the weighting factors in the objective function must be tuned, which greatly increases the computation burden. In this work, based on the fuzzy technique, one weighting factor optimization method is proposed to identify the suitable control action for the linear induction machine (LIM), which can effectively simplify the selection process. At last, comprehensive simulation results have demonstrated the excellent performance of the proposed method. © 2020 IEEE.

LSCD-Pose: A Feature Point Detection Model for Collab.rative Perception in Airports

Ensuring safety on busy airport aprons remains challenging, particularly in preventing aircraft wingtip collisions. In this study, first, a simplified coordinate mapping method converts pixel detections into accurate spatial coordinates, improving aircraft position and velocity estimates. Next, an innovative dynamic warning area with a classification mechanism is introduced to enable faster responses from airport staff. Finally, this study proposes LSCD-Pose, a real-time detection network enhanced by lightweight shared modules, significantly reducing model size and computational load without sacrificing accuracy. Experiments on real airport datasets representing various apron scenarios demonstrate frame rates up to 461.7 FPS and a 90.5% reduction in model size compared with the baseline. Visualizations confirm the solution's versatility and efficiency in effectively mitigating wingtip collisions and enhancing apron safety.

Collab.rative Metric Learning (CML) has recently emerged as a popular method in recommendation systems (RS), closing the gap between metric learning and Collab.rative Filtering. Following the convention of RS, existing methods exploit unique user representation in their model design. This paper focuses on a challenging scenario where a user has multiple categories of interests. Under this setting, we argue that the unique user representation might induce preference bias, especially when the item category distribution is imbalanced. To address this issue, we propose a novel method called Diversity-Promoting Collab.rative Metric Learning (DPCML), with the hope of considering the commonly ignored minority interest of the user. The key idea behind DPCML is to include a multiple set of representations for each user in the system. Based on this embedding paradigm, user preference toward an item is aggregated from different embeddings by taking the minimum item-user distance among the user embedding set. Furthermore, we observe that the diversity of the embeddings for the same user also plays an essential role in the model. To this end, we propose a diversity control regularization term to accommodate the multi-vector representation strategy better. Theoretically, we show that DPCML could generalize well to unseen test data by tackling the challenge of the annoying operation that comes from the minimum value. Experiments over a range of benchmark datasets speak to the efficacy of DPCML. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

A novel computational cost-effective approach is presented for 2D elastic dynamic analysis by utilizing rotationally periodic symmetry. The proposed algorithm is developed on the platform of TPAA-SBFEM, integrating all its advantages. By recourse of TPAA, an elastic dynamic problem is converted into a series of recursive spatial problems which are solved by SBFEM. The block-circulant SBFEM global stiffness and mass matrices are derived for the structures with or without a common node under a symmetry-adapted reference coordinate system. Notably, these matrices are constructed based on a basic symmetric part, rather than the entire computational domain. Subsequently, a partitioning algorithm is presented to solve the system equation with block-circulant coefficient matrices via a series of small independent subproblems. This leads to significant reductions in both the computational cost associated with matrix construction and the solving of the system equation. In addition, the Woodbury formula is employed to reduce the computational cost in dealing with incomplete rotationally periodic symmetric structures. Three numerical examples are provided to elucidate the features of the proposed approach. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Polarimetric correlation pattern has been proposed and utilized for polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) ship detection in this paper. The core idea of polarimetric correlation pattern is to extend the polarimetric correlation of two arbitrary polarization channels at a fixed rotation angle to the rotation domain. Based on the target-to-clutter ratio (TCR) analysis, four features derived from the polarimetric correlation pattern with high TCR are selected. PolSAR ship detection schemes are proposed thereafter, which mainly contain three steps: features selection with high TCR, thresholding procedure, and morphological filtering. Experimental studies with Radarsat-2 data validate the advantages of the proposed detection schemes. © 2019 IEEE.

With the development of SAR imaging technology, detailed information of ship targets is displayed in high resolution SAR, which facilitates target recognition. In this paper, the differences between the structures of military and civilian ships are investigated. The paper utilizes the characteristics of military ships that have structures like towering bridges, which make them have a protruding structure in SAR images compared with civilian ships. As a result, the similarity between the ship contour and the fitting ellipse is used to recognition the military and civilian ships. Hence, a method for recognizing military and civilian ships in high-resolution SAR images based on ellipse fitting is proposed. This method can be divided into two steps, first extracting the edge of the ship target in the image, and then judging the similarity between the edge and the ellipse. The high-resolution images obtained by GF-3 satellite are used for experimental verification. The experimental results show that this method can effectively classify military and civilian ships. © 2019 IEEE.

When there is relative motion between the receiver and the emitting source, the emitter position can be determined by a single receiver with a single channel using Doppler rate-of-change received. In this passive localization application, accurate Doppler rate-of-change information is the key precondition to guarantee high localization precision. A new Doppler rate-of-change estimation method for BPSK signal based on spectrum phase is proposed in this paper using the special structure of the continuous signal by BPSK (Binary Phase Shift keying) modulation. In the proposed method, the phase jump can be eliminated by the squaring operation to the received signal, and the signal is segmented to multiple shorter pieces of the same length. The central frequency is estimated from each signal piece by fast Fourier transformation. The spectrum phase can be obtained by doing Fourier transform at the central frequency of each signal piece. The Doppler rate-of-change was estimated using the linear minimum mean square criterion. The effectiveness of the proposed method was proved by the computer simulation. © 2019 IEEE.
