Sulfur corrosion induced by active sulfur has been proved to significantly decrease the insulation performance of oil-immersed equipment. In order to protect the oil-paper insulation from sulfur corrosion, active sulfur is cleared in the refining process of crude oil. Some inactive sulfur with high-efficiency antioxidant is still retained in the mineral oil to improve the oxidation stability of oil, such as thiophenic compounds. However, the corrosive effect of inactive sulfur on the oil-paper insulation has not yet clear. Therefore, thiophene that is the largest content of sulfide in the insulating oil was selected as the research object, a series of accelerated thermal ageing experiments of oil-paper without and with thiophene under the different high temperature were conducted, scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM/EDX) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) were used to characterize the corrosion degree of oil-paper insulation. The results show that no corrosive deposit was observed on the surface of oilpaper insulation without thiophene even at very high temperature, while a few corrosive deposit was accumulated on the surface of oil-paper insulation with 500 mg/kg thiophene. The corrosion degree of oil-paper insulation with thiophene had an uptrend as the increase of temperature (130°C-180°C), preliminarily indicating that thiophene may be activated in the oil-paper system under the action of overheating fault of oil-immersed transformer and posed a corrosion threat to oil-paper insulation. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper proposes an advanced control strategy consisting of current stress optimization based on triple-phase-shifting (TPS) modulation for front-end DAB converter and 33% PWM method for back-end three-phase full bridge inverter. Compared with the traditional phase shift control, the control strategy proposed for the front-end DAB converter achieves linear control and significantly reduces current stress. In addition, it reduces the DC-Link capacitance, which improves the safety of the equipment. The 33% modulation method adopted by the full bridge inverter at the back-end reduces the switching loss of semiconductor devices. The principle, derivation and realization of the proposed control strategy are described in detail. Simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Corrosion testing of buried metal pipelines is an important measure to ensure the safe operation of pipelines. In order to investigate the transient electromagnetic field named response of buried metal pipelines, a three-dimensional simulation model was established by using multiphysics simulation software named ANSYS Multiphysics to calculate and analyze buried metal pipelines with different corrosion degrees, ie different wall thicknesses, on the receiving coil after the excitation signal is turned off[1]. The induced electromotive force changes, the results show that the larger the wall thickness, that is, the smaller the corrosion degree, the slower the attenuation of the induced electromotive force curve of the receiving coil, the smaller the wall thickness, the faster the attenuation;and the verification was experimented: the transient electromagnetic method can effectively detect the degree of corrosion of metal pipes buried under the ground. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The Drosophila larva, a soft-body animal, can bend its body and roll efficiently to escape danger. However, contrary to common belief, this rolling motion is not driven by the imbalance of gravity and ground reaction forces. Through functional imaging and ablation experiments, we demonstrate that the sequential actuation of axial muscles within an appropriate range of angles is critical for generating rolling. We model the interplay between muscle contraction, hydrostatic skeleton deformation, and body-environment interactions, and systematically explain how sequential muscle actuation generates the rolling motion. Additionally, we constructed a pneumatic soft robot to mimic the larval rolling strategy, successfully validating our model. This mechanics model of soft-body rolling motion not only advances the study of related neural circuits, but also holds potential for applications in soft robotics. © 2024, CC BY.

In recent years, deep learning has become a research hotspot when processing Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) data. Due to high cost of SAR image acquisition, many generative models are proposed to simulate SAR images. However, it's still hard to assess which algorithm performs better. We conduct a multi-faced large-scale empirical study on generative models including Generative Adversarial Nets(GANs) and Encoder-Decoder based models for simulating SAR images and evaluate performance of these models using pixel-wise similarity. Results show that the difference is small in contour similarity for generated SAR images produced by various of networks, however, there exists sharp difference in terms of pixel correlation and Fréchet Inception Distance(FID). The Variant Autoencoder network has certain advantages in many indicators under limited training data. Pixel correlation is rather accurate taking into account multi-features of SAR images in low level dimension and provides meaningful guidance in evaluating quality of SAR images. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, we proposed a novel two-stage model that works in a hierarchical architecture to detect airports on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. In the first rough stage, an improved line segment detector (LSD) which tackles the line segments disconnection problem in SAR images is used to extract candidate airport regions coarsely. In the second fine stage, a well-trained Faster R-CNN with residual networks (ResNet) implementation (called ResFaster RCNN) is applied to each candidate regions to discriminate airport and non-airport regions and locate the airport much more precisely. Transfer learning and some improvement measures are applied to the networks. With this two-stage model, we can not only use both low-level and high-level features of airports synthetically but also avoid the information loss problem caused by resizing when large scene images are input into the networks. Experiments on large-scale SAR images have proved that the proposed method can reach a detection rate of 95% with low false alarm rate and show a great enhancement over other existing methods. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. This article shows an extrinsic optical fiber Fabry-Perot (F-P) acoustic sensor based on a polyimide diaphragm whose effective vibration area and thickness respectively are approximate 4.906 mm2 and 8.5\ \mu \mathrm{m} for the high-quality detection of high-frequency ultrasonic signals in transformer oil. Directional test indicates this proposed sensor is an omnidirectional sensor. And experimental results of the detection for high-frequency ultrasonic signals in transformer oil indicate this proposed sensor has a flat frequency response, which demonstrates this proposed sensor can achieve the high-quality detection for high-frequency ultrasonic signals in transformer oil. Therefore, this proposed sensor also has excellent potential for the detection of partial discharges occurring in transformer oil in any direction. © 2020 IEEE.

Quantum photonic integrated circuits are reshaping quantum networks and sensing by providing compact, efficient platforms for practical quantum applications. Despite continuous breakthroughs, integrating entangled registers into photonic devices on a CMOS-compatible platform presents significant challenges. Herein, we present single electron-nuclear spin entanglement and its integration into a silicon-carbide-on-insulator (SiCOI) waveguide. We demonstrate the successful generation of single divacancy electron spins and near-unity spin initialization of single 13C nuclear spins. Both single nuclear and electron spin can be coherently controlled and a maximally entangled state with a fidelity of 0.89 has been prepared under ambient conditions. Based on the nanoscale positioning techniques, the entangled quantum register has been further integrated into SiC photonic waveguides for the first time. We find that the intrinsic optical and spin characteristics of the register are well preserved and the fidelity of the entangled state remains as high as 0.88. Our findings highlight the promising prospects of the SiCOI platform as a compelling candidate for future scalab.e quantum photonic applications. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A new scheme for producing semidiscrete self-trapped vortices ("swirling photon droplets") in photonic crystals with competing quadratic (χ(2)) and self-defocusing cubic (χ(3)) nonlinearities is proposed. The photonic crystal is designed with a striped structure, in the form of spatially periodic modulation of the χ(2) susceptibility, which is imposed by the quasi-phase-matching technique. Unlike previous realizations of semidiscrete optical modes in composite media, built as combinations of continuous and arrayed discrete waveguides, the semidiscrete vortex "droplets" are produced here in the fully continuous medium. This work reveals that the system supports two types of semidiscrete vortex droplets, viz., onsite- and intersite-centered ones, which feature, respectively, odd and even numbers of stripes, N. Stability areas for the states with different values of N are identified in the system's parameter space. Some stability areas overlap with each other, giving rise to the multistability of states with different N. The coexisting states are mutually degenerate, featuring equal values of the Hamiltonian and propagation constant. An experimental scheme to realize the droplets is outlined, suggesting new possibilities for the long-distance transmission of nontrivial vortex beams in nonlinear media. © 2023, CC BY.

Part error will cause the assembly contact state between parts to deviate from the nominal state, resulting in error accumulation and propagation. Therefore, reasonable tolerance has to be applied to control the corresponding errors. Currently there are a number of tolerance analysis methods, however, most of them typically only consider dimensional and geometrical tolerances in the design phase. Analysis results without considering part deformation which was commonly observed in the realistic working conditions could lead to possible assembly failures. In this paper, both manufacturing and deformation errors are taken into account to establish a more comprehensive deviation calculation model based on Polytope-Skin Model Shape method. The total assembly error can be determined by calculating the Minkowski sum. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified in a case study about an assembly of one-joint manipulator in which the external force is the cause of the change on part shape and size. © 2020 The Authors.
