Hot spot prediction in protein interfaces is very important for understanding the essence of protein interactions and may provide promising prospect for drug design. Since experimental approaches such as alanine scanning mutagenesis are cost-expensive and time-consuming, reliable computational methods are needed. In this paper, a systematic method based on least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) within the Bayesian evidence framework is proposed, where three levels Bayesian inferences are used to determine the model parameters and regularization hyper-parameters. Then a higher precision model for hot spots is constructed by optimizing these parameters. Compared with the previous methods, our model appears to be better performance. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Although Gas Insulated Switchgear (hereinafter referred to as GIS) equipment has the very high operation reliability, the internal inevitable defects of GIS could cause partial discharge (short for PD). SF6 gas decomposition occurs because of the energy which PD produced. The analysis of SF6 gas components in GIS is of great significance in the diagnosis and assessment of the operating status of GIS. As an important characteristic gas, the variation detection in the concentration of H2S is significant to judge the insulation level of SF6 gas. There are a number of gas sensors using carbon nanotubes. Unfortunately, their applications are greatly limited by their low intrinsic sensitivity. In this paper, we propose an adsorbent-doped carbon nanotubes gas sensor to make an improvement in detecting the concentration of H2S. The preparation and test method of the developed sensor was introduced. Meanwhile, the sensor response was conducted using the gas test device. We perform experiments and the results show that, compared to intrinsic carbon nanotubes gas sensor, the gas sensor featuring adsorbent-doped carbon nanotubes has a great deal higher sensitivity and responsiveness to H2S. In other words, the developed sensor has a capability of detecting the low concentration H2S. Therefore, it indicates that the doped sensor can improve the minimum detectable concentration of H2S and has great potential in H2S detection. Resistance change rate of H2S increased to 23.69% from 12.9%. Meanwhile, the sensor has good repeatability and stability. © 2013 IEEE.

As the semiconductor industry advances to nano-technology points, Network on Chip (NoC) components are becoming vulnerable to errors during the system operation. Consequently, fault-tolerant techniques for NoC are needed to achieve high reliability. In this paper, we present a fault-tolerant routing method to tolerate faulty routers in a two-dimension (2D) mesh-based NoC. With this method, the system can have a multi-router fault-tolerant capability and the routing path can be dynamically reconfigured to support different situations caused by faulty routers in NoC. Fault-tolerance capability and system performance of the proposed method are evaluated through analysis and simulations. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed method can enhance the reliability of system and offer considerable fault-tolerance capability. © 2013 by Binary Information Press.

Topological structure is an important part of the design of network on chip systems. The majority of current NoC architectures employ mesh topology, but at some practical application, NoC systems often integrate a number of heterogeneous blocks, or some fabrication faults, reliability issues, may lead to the need of irregular topologies. Consequently, simplistic routing techniques such as XY scheme can not be employed in irregular topologies. This paper presents an efficient specific routing scheme for the irregular mesh network which can be guaranteed for the connection in irregular topologies. This paper applies routing tables (RT) to realize the algorithm and use OVP (Open Virtual Platforms)+ TLM (Transaction Level Modeling)+systemC to create a virtual platform, achieving a 16 x16 irregular mesh topology of heterogeneous systems. Finally the routing scheme is applied to test specific real application network instances, and the result shows its connectivity and efficiency. © 2013 IEEE.

Second-order consensus seeking in multi-agent systems with nonlinear dynamics over random switching directed networks

This paper discusses the second-order local consensus problem for multi-agent systems with nonlinear dynamics over dynamically switching random directed networks. By applying the orthogonal decomposition method, the state vector of resulted error dynamical system can be decomposed as two transversal components, one of which evolves along the consensus manifold and the other evolves transversally with the consensus manifold. Several sufficient conditions for reaching almost surely second-order local consensus are derived for the cases of time-delay-free coupling and time-delay coupling, respectively. For the case of time-delay-free coupling, we find that if there exists one directed spanning tree in the network which corresponds to the fixed time-averaged topology and the switching rate of the dynamic network is not more than a critical value which is also estimated analytically, then second-order dynamical consensus can be guaranteed for the choice of suitable parameters. For the case of time-delay coupling, we not only prove that under some assumptions, the second-order consensus can be reached exponentially, but also give an analytical estimation of the upper bounds of convergence rate and the switching rate. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Abnormal network traffic detection approach based on alive entropy

A novel alive entropy-based detection approach was proposed, which detects the abnormal network traffic based on the values of alive entropies. The alive entropies calculated based on the NetFlow data coming from the network traffic of input and output of a whole system, which is essentially a monitored network. In order to decrease false positive rate of abnormal network traffic, different scales are selected to compute the values of alive entropies in different sizes of network traffic. With the low false positive rate of abnormal network traffic, the abnormal network traffic can be effectively detected. Experiments carried out on a real campus network were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. A comparative study illustrates that the proposed approach may easily detect the abnormal network traffic with random characteristics in comparison with some "conventional" approaches reported in the literatures.

In this paper, we propose a deep packet inspection system based on the MapReduce. The MapReduce which is a parallel distributed programming model developed by Google applies the technology of deep packet inspection. Network protocol analysis technique is invoked to realize detect, effectively reducing the packet number to be matched. Furthermore, cache technology is adopted to store attack signature from database in order to reduce the frequency of reading the rules from library file which improved the detection efficiency. Experimental results show that effectiveness of the proposed system with the high-speed network traffic. Copyright © 2013 Binary Information Press.

In this paper we introduced a unidirectional joint with adjustable stiffness (UJAS) for legged robot applications. It allowed the robotic leg to change dynamic property by tuning joint parameters. The joint was designed to provide large compliant motion range and sufficient energy storage capacity for passive gaits. In order to avoid undesired leg vibration during flying phase we brought about the unidirectional design with mechanical stops. Rotational stiffness output and the neutral position could be controlled independently allowing different leg configurations and dynamic features. The joint design was based on lever mechanism with torsion springs providing necessary compliant. It is experimentally tested that the joint design could provide different stiffness output characters and it has the potential to be used in legged robotic systems.

UHF-band radar, which is widely used in early warning, has the unique advantage on target detection. However it can be seriously interfered by the GSM base station with the same frequency channel in practical application. Nowadays the solution is just avoiding the frequency which GSM used. However, with the increasing number of GSM clients, the spectrum which can be used by UHF-radar will be compressed inevitable. It not only leads to the frequency resource wasted, but also impacts the detection ability of UHF-band radar. A polarization-space joint filtering scheme is proposed in this paper, which is based on the antenna configuration with orthogonal dual-polarization array elements and main, auxiliary arrays. By employing this filtering scheme, the radar can detect targets effectively, even there is much interference in the main lobe and side lobe simultaneously. The detection ability of UHFband radar will be effectively improved in complex electromagnetic environment by using this method. In this paper, the model of signal received by array is established, and the recursive filtering algorithm is designed. The simulation is finally done to validate. © 2013 IEEE.
