The polarization of radar antenna vary with scan direction. This phenomenon is called Spatial Polarization Characteristic (SPC) of antenna. Based on the SPC of single polarized antenna, a novel polarization estimation method is established. Comparing with the traditional estimation method, this one has the following advantages: (i) It does not need dual-polarization channels to estimate the signal polarization;(ii) The polarization and angle of arriving(AOA) of a periodic signal can be estimated simultaneously;(iii) The full-polarization pattern of the antenna can be matched automatically during the estimation. The feasibility of this method is proved by simulation. © 2013 European Microwave Association.

To reveal the change law of the simulation error of grey model GM(1,1) with translation transformation applying on the original sequence, in this paper, the experiments based on 55 real world data sequences have been conducted to study how the translation transformation influences the grey models' error characteristics. The results show that a larger translation transformation can make the total error between the model sequence and the original sequence toward zero, and the model precision remains independent. The conclusion implies that we can use translation transformation to change the original sequence data level to simplify the model building without changing the model precision. © 2013 IEEE.

The optimal multiple linear constraint minimal variance (LCMV) beamformer is presented under multiple desired signals case. The theoretical solutions of the optimal weighted vector and maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) are derived by using variable substitution method. Simulation results show that the algorithm is superior to the traditional LCMV approach in the SINR, computational load and applicability. The algorithm can be applied in the area of radar tracking of low-angle targets and polarization radar signal processing.

In many practical data mining applications, such as web categorization, key gene selection, etc., generally, unlab.led training examples are readily availab.e, but lab.led ones are fairly expensive to obtain. Therefore, in recent years, semi-supervised learning algorithms such as graph-based methods have attracted much attention. However, most of these traditional methods adopted a Gaussian function to calculate the edge weights of the graph. In this paper, a novel weight for semi-supervised graph-based methods is proposed. The new method adds the lab.l information from problem into the target function, and adopts the geodesic distance rather than Euclidean distance as the measure of the difference between two data points when conducting the calculation. In addition, we also add class prior knowledge from problem into semi-supervised learning algorithm. Here we address the problem of learning with local and global consistency (LGC). It was found that the effect of class prior knowledge was probably different between under high lab.l rate and low lab.l rate. Furthermore, we integrate sparse representation (SR) in LGC algorithm. Experiments on a UCI data set show that our proposed method outperforms the original algorithms. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

An elitist selection adaptive Genetic Algorithm is presented to select an optimal cloud service composite plan from a lot of composite plans on the basis of global Quality-of-Service (QoS) constraints. In this Algorithm, some strategies are provided to improve convergence and population diversity and raise fitness result. These strategies include an elitist selection strategy, an individual selection method based on ranking selection and an adaptive mutation strategy. The elitist selection strategy gives a guarantee that the degradation of population fitness can be avoided. The individual selection method provides a simple and effective way to control selective pressure. The adaptive mutation strategy uses a special population measurement to decide individuals' similarity. The value of the dynamic mutation probability changes on the basis of population diversity. Some simulation results on cloud service selection with global QoS constraints have shown that the elitist selection adaptive Genetic Algorithm can gain better composition service plan.

Recently, graphics processing units (GPUs) have opened up new opportunities for speeding up general-purpose parallel applications due to their massive computational power and up to hundreds of thousands of threads enabled by programming models such as CUDA. However, due to the serial nature of existing micro-architecture simulators, these massively parallel architectures and workloads need to be simulated sequentially. As a result, simulating GPGPU architectures with typical benchmarks and input data sets is extremely time-consuming. This paper addresses the GPGPU architecture simulation challenge by generating miniature, yet representative GPGPU kernels. We first summarize the static characteristics of an existing GPGPU kernel in a profile, and analyze its dynamic behavior using the novel concept of the divergence flow statistics graph (DFSG). We subsequently use a GPGPU kernel synthesizing framework to generate a miniature proxy of the original kernel, which can reduce simulation time significantly. The key idea is to reduce the number of simulated instructions by decreasing per-thread iteration counts of loops. Our experimental results show that our approach can accelerate GPGPU architecture simulation by a factor of 88X on average and up to 589X with an average IPC relative error of 5.6%.

Presently, the research on evolution of SOA solution is becoming more and more important in industry. It is necessary to extract a taxonomy framework for evolution of SOA solution because by using it, evolution of SOA-based systems can be analyzed and compared comprehensively and objectively. In this paper, a taxonomy framework for evolution of SOA solution is proposed that is illustrated from four perspectives: (a) motivations for evolutionary changes (why), (b) locations where evolutionary changes happen (where), (c) times when evolutionary changes happen (when), and (d) support mechanisms in the process of evolutionary changes (how). Increasing demand for high performance has impelled the development of process technology and IC design technology. Due to production technology restrictions, traditional single-core processors have encountered bottlenecks both in frequency and performance. Heterogeneous multi-core SoC, such as CPU + coprocessor + peripherals, is accepted as a cost-effective solution for the increasing computation demands in embedded system. The system performance depends on the processor frequency, the memory access rate, and the I/O access rate, but their development is unbalanced, and CPU has to wait for the response from the memory or I/O for a long time in order to continue pro- cessing. Hardware multithreading technology has been used to effectively hide memory latency and significantly increase total system performance with low cost. This paper presents a design of coprocessor IP based on altera PicaRISC multithreaded pro- cessor which can execute eight threads simultaneously using a time-slicing multithreading approach. The IP core was designed based on avalon bus, and can be easily integrated into nearly any system. The test result shows that fft3780 calculation can speed up to 9 times using 16 threads.

A particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based automatic system to determine the number of optimal band sets and corresponding bands is proposed. A simple searching criterion function, called minimum estimated abundance covariance (MEAC), requiring class signatures only, is used in this method. The experimental results show that the PSO-based algorithm outperforms the popular sequential forward selection (SFS) method. The two PSOs can achieve the balance between the two objectives, and it may provide even better accuracy than a single-objective PSO. © 2013 IEEE.
