The image projection has been proven to be an effective method for extracting image features. This paper utilizes multiple facial cues extracted by the projection function for driver vigilance monitoring. To measure vigilance, we calculate two metrics: PERCLOS and PERROTAT from facial state estimation. The main advantage of the presented system in contrast to existing ones is the usage of cheap equipment (only one monocular camera) to achieve a good cost-performance ratio and fast computation time. Taking the advantage of ultrafast optical linear and nonlinear effects, all-optical signal processing (AOSP) enables manipulation, regeneration, and computing of information directly in optical domain without resorting to electronics. As a promising photonic integration platform, silicon-on-insulator (SOI) has the advantage of complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) compatibility, low-loss, compact size as well as large optical nonlinearities. In this paper, we review the recent progress in the project granted to develop silicon-based reconfigurable AOSP chips, which aims to combine the merits of AOSP and silicon photonics to solve the unsustainable cost and energy challenges in future communication and big data applications. Three key challenges are identified in this project: (1) how to finely manipulate and reconfigure optical fields, (2) how to achieve ultra-low loss integrated silicon waveguides and significant enhancement of nonlinear effects, (3) how to mitigate crosstalk between optical, electrical and thermal components. By focusing on these key issues, the following major achievements are realized during the project. First, ultra-low loss silicon-based waveguides as well as ultra-high quality microresonators are developed by advancing key fabrication technologies as well as device structures. Integrated photonic filters with bandwidth and free spectral range reconfigurable in a wide range were realized to finely manipulate and select input light fields with a high degree of freedom. Second, several mechanisms and new designs that aim at nonlinear enhancement have been proposed, including optical ridge waveguides with reverse biased PIN junction, slot waveguides, multimode waveguides and parity-time symmetry coupled microresonators. This paper presents a method for locating text based on a simplified pulse coupled neural network (PCNN). The PCNN generates a firings map in a similar way to the human visual system with non-linear image processing. The PCNN is used to segment the original image into different planes and edges detected using both the PCNN firings map and a phase congruency detector. The different edges are integrated using an automatically adjusted weighting coefficient. Both the simplified PCNN and the phase congruency energy model in the frequency domain imitate the human visual system. This paper shows how to use PCNN by changing the compute space from the spatial domain to the frequency domain for solving the text location problem. The algorithm is a simplified PCNN edge-based (PCNNE) algorithm. Three comparison tests are used to evaluate the algorithm. Tests on large data sets show PCNNE efficiently detects texts with various colors, font sizes, positions, and uneven illumination. This method outperforms several traditional methods both in text detection rate and text detection accuracy.

Network coding is proved to have advantages in both wireline and wireless networks. Especially, appropriate network coding schemes are programmed for underlined networks. Considering the feature of strong node mobility in aviation communication networks, a hop-by-hop network coding algorithm based on ad hoc networks was proposed. Compared with COPE-like network coding algorithms, the proposed algorithm does not require overhearing from other nodes, which meets confidentiality requirements of aviation communication networks. Meanwhile, it does save resource consumption and promise less processing delay. To analyze the performance of the network coding algorithm in scalab.e networks with different traffic models, a typical network was built in a network simulator, through which receiving accuracy rate and receiving delay were both *** simulation results indicate that, by virtue of network coding, the proposed algorithm works well and improves performance significantly. More specifically, it has better performance in enhancing receiving accuracy rate and reducing receiving delay, as compared with any of the traditional networks without coding. It was applied to both symmetric and asymmetric traffic flows and, in particular, it achieves much better performance when the network scale becomes larger. Therefore, this algorithm has great potentials in large-scale multi-hop aviation communication networks.

A stable discrete time tracking control approach based on dynamic inversion using dynamic neural networks (DNN's) is developed in this paper for robotic manipulators with unknown dynamics nonlinearities. Two novel design technologies-dynamic inversion constructed by DNN's and the NN variable structure control, are used for adaptive tracking controller design. The robot control law is composed of the dynamic inversion of the DNN system, adaptive compensation and the NN variable structure control (VSC) components. The developed control scheme guarantees the global stability and tracking error convergence of the NN control system. Finally, the control performance of the proposed control approach is illustrated through the comparison studies with robot tracking control approach using static NN's (SNN's).

Soccer robot system is a tremendously challenging intelligent system developed to mimic human soccer competition based on the multi discipline research: robotics, intelligent control, computer vision, etc. robot path planning strategy is a very important subject concerning to the performance and intelligence degree of the multi robot system. Therefore, this paper studies the path planning strategy of soccer system by using fuzzy logic. After setting up two fuzziers and two sorts of fuzzy rules for soccer system, fuzzy logic is applied to workspace partition and path revision. The experiment results show that this technique can well enhance the performance and intelligence degree of the system.
