Obstacle avoidance is of great importance for mobile robots since it provides protection for the robots’safety and ensures their routine *** are proven to play an important role in robots obstacle avoidance,and they are useful as ***,more sensors indicating additional space,larger weight load and more energy *** unnecessary sensors is conducive to the development of mobile robots and remains *** we demonstrate Sensor Free Obstacle-Passing Robots(SFOPRs)inspired by flies using the Obstacle-passing strategy instead of Obstacle *** ability to autonomously adjust its direction after hitting obstacles and the ability to continuously hit obstacles are 2 key problems that need to be solved to build this *** to arc-shaped head design and undulating motion behaviors,the robots can autonomously adjust their direction to the outline of obstacles,such as a 90°corner,dispersive irregular obstacles,and even an"S"type channel without the assistance of any ***,the caterpillar-like movement enables robots to continuously hit ***,collab.rative awareness and mutual aid can be realized among two or more prototype robots,indicating simple yet functional units for future swarm *** study could provide a new strategy to pursue sensor-free obstacle-passing robots for future swarm robot applications.

Casting Al-Li alloys are widely used in the aerospace industry due to their advantages such as low density, high stiffness, and high elastic modulus. However, poor toughness is a significant bottleneck for the application of cast Al-Li alloys. In this study, a high-strength and tough Al-2.5Li-1.5Cu-xSc alloy was successfully prepared by ultrasonic-assisted squeeze casting, and the influence of different Sc contents (x=0, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3wt.%) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Al-2.5Li-1.5Cu alloy was systematically investigated. The research indicates that with the continuous increase of Sc content, the grain size of the as-cast alloy significantly refines, and the grains transform from coarse dendrites to equiaxed grains. Meanwhile, as Sc content increases, the variation trend of the mechanical properties is consistent with the microstructural evolution. The Al-2.5Li-1.5Cu-0.3Sc alloy exhibits the best mechanical properties after ultrasonic treatment, with tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of 338.2MPa, 182.4MPa, and 12.2%, respectively. Compared to the 0Sc alloy, its performance has been improved by 45.5%, 62.3%, and 161.1%, respectively. © 2024 75th World Foundry Congress, WFC 2024. All rights reserved.

A type of magnesium alloy that urgently needs to be developed is one that has both high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion, in order to ensure that the thermal physical properties of magnesium alloy components match with other components, and to ensure the dimensional stability of the components. However, in general, the high thermal conductivity and low expansion of magnesium alloys are contradictory, as the fewer alloying elements in magnesium metal, the higher the thermal conductivity (TC), but when magnesium alloys are close to pure magnesium, the thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) is large. The author's research group innovatively designed a Mg-Zn-Cu cast alloy with high TC and good mechanical properties. Due to the Laves structure phase of AB2 type C15 structure, the content of alloy elements in the solid solution is reduced, resulting in a high TC of the alloy, close to pure magnesium. On this basis, in order to further reduce the CTE, ceramic particles with low expansion and high thermal conductivity such as AlN, SiC and BN could be added to prepare cast Mg-matrix composites. The results show that the 10 wt.% AlN/Mg-Zn-Cu composite can reach a room temperature TC of 149.1 W/(m·K), and CTE of around 17.3 × 10-6 K-1 at 20 ~ 100 ℃, which can meet requirements for the thermal physical properties of magnesium alloys in many applications. © 2024 75th World Foundry Congress, WFC 2024. Magnesium alloys possess several advantages such as low density, high thermal conductivity, and excellent seismic resistance, making them ideal materials for laptop frames. However, current research on thermal conductive magnesium alloys focuses mainly on incorporating costly metal elements such as RE and Sn. This not only increases the production costs but also raises the density of magnesium alloys, hindering the commercialization of thermal conductive magnesium alloys. Therefore, the present study aims to develop an Mg-Si-Zn-Cu alloy that offers desirable mechanical properties and thermal conductivity while considering cost and density control. The impact of squeeze casting and heat treatment on the overall properties of this alloy was investigated. The research findings demonstrate that squeeze casting enhances the mechanical properties of the alloy without compromising its heat dissipation performance. Furthermore, heat treatment improves the thermal conductivity of the alloy effectively, primarily attributed to the spheroidization effect on secondary phases resulting from isothermal heat treatment. © 2024 75th World Foundry Congress, WFC 2024. The mechanical properties of high strength steel are governed by its microstructure, which typically exhibits a multi-phase composition when the steel is highly strong and ductile. The distribution, proportion, and morphology of the constituent phases significantly influence the final mechanical properties of the material. In this regard, the development of an accurate and efficient method to identify and segment the microstructure of high strength steel is essential. To address this issue, a microscopic image database of high strength steel materials was established and an unsupervised image segmentation method that leverages superpixels and texture features clustering was proposed to identify the complex microstructure of high strength steel. By optimizing the number of superpixel divisions, our method achieved high accuracy in segmenting the three types of mixed structures in the dataset, with average pixel accuracy scores of 79.21% (M + B), 86.23% (F + P), and 84.32% (F + A). Furthermore, our method outperformed traditional unsupervised segmentation methods in segmenting microstructure images with intricate textures. The proposed method is thus deemed an effective tool for studying and applying high strength steel materials. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Metallic tin(Sn)foil is a promising candidate anode for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)due to its metallurgical processability and high ***,it suffers low initial Coulombic efficiency and inferior cycling stability due to its uneven alloying/dealloying reactions,large volume change and stress,and fast electrode structural ***,we report an undulating LiSn electrode fabricated by a scalab.e two-step procedure involving mechanical lithography and chemical prelithiation of Sn *** the combination of experimental measurements and chemo-mechanical simulations,it was revealed the obtained undulating LiSn/Sn electrode could ensure better mechanical stability due to the pre-swelling state from Sn to Li x Sn and undulating structure of lithography in comparison with plane Sn,homogenize the electrochemical alloying/dealloying reactions due to the activated surface materials,and compensate Li loss during cycling due to the introduction of excess Li from Li_(x)Sn,thus enabling enhanced electrochemical *** cells consisting of undulating LiSn/Sn electrode with an active thickness of∼5 um displayed stable cycling over 1000 h at 1 mA cm^(-2) and 1 mAh cm^(-2) with a low average overpotential of<15 *** paired with commercial LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(NCM622)cathode with high mass loading of 15.8 mg cm^(-2),the full cell demonstrated a high capacity of 2.4 mAh cm^(-2) and outstanding cycling stability with 84.9% capacity retention at 0.5 C after 100 *** work presents an advanced LiSn electrode with stress-regulation design toward high-performance LIBs,and sheds light on the rational electrode design and processing of other high-capacity lithium alloy anodes.

Influence of surface layer slurry temperature on surface cracks and holes of ZTC4 titanium alloy by investment casting

In this work,the influences of surface layer slurry at different temperatures(10℃,14℃,18℃,22℃)on wax patterns deformation,shrinkage,slurry coating characteristics,and the surface quality of the casting were investigated by using a single factor variable *** surface morphologies of the shell molds produced by different temperatures of the surface(first)layer slurries were observed via electron ***,the microscopic composition of these shell molds was obtained by EDS,and the osmotic effect of the slurry on the wax patterns at different temperatures was also assessed by the PZ-200 Contact Angle *** forming reasons for the surface cracks and holes of thick and large ZTC4 titanium alloy by investment casting were *** experimental results show that the surface of the shell molds prepared by the surface layer slurry with a low temperature exhibits noticeable damage,which is mainly due to the poor coating performance and the serious expansion and contraction of wax pattern at low *** second layer shell material(SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3))immerses into the crack area of the surface layer,contacts and reacts with the molten titanium to form surface cracks and holes in the *** the increase of the temperature of surface layer slurry,the damage to the shell surface tends to weaken,and the composition of the shell molds'surface becomes more uniform with less *** results show that the surface layer slurry at 22℃is evenly coated on the surface of the wax patterns with appropriate thickness,and there is no surface shell mold rupture caused by sliding slurry after sand *** surface layer slurry temperature is consistent with the wax pattern temperature and the workshop temperature,so there is no damage of the surface layer shell caused by expansion and ***,the shell mold prepared by the surface layer slurry at this temperature has good integrity,isolating the contact between the low inert

All-fluorinated electrolyte for non-flammable batteries with ultra-high specific capacity at 4.7 V

Li metal batteries(LMBs)with LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)(NMC811)cathodes could release a specific energy of>500 Wh kg^(-1) by increasing the charge ***,high-nickel cathodes working at high voltages accelerate degradations in bulk and at interfaces,thus significantly degrading the cycling lifespan and decreasing the specific ***,we rationally design an all-fluorinated electrolyte with addictive tri(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)borate(TFEB),based on 3,3,3-fluoroethylmethylcarbonate(FEMC)and fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC),which enables stable cycling of high nickel cathode(LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2),NMC811)under a cut-off voltage of 4.7 V in Li metal *** electrolyte not only shows the fire-extinguishing properties,but also inhibits the transition metal dissolution,the gas production,side reactions on the cathode ***,the NMC811||Li cell demonstrates excellent performance by using limited Li and high-loading cathode,delivering a specific capacity>220 mA h g^(-1),an average Coulombic efficiency>99.6%and capacity retention>99.7%over 100 cycles.
