Fault locator for power distribution system with neutral non-effectively grounded should locate phase-to-phase fault and single-phase-to-ground fault respectively. For phase-to-phase fault, the point can be located by power-frequency impedance. However, for single-phase-to-ground fault with limited power-frequency current not more than load current, a novel fault location technology should be developed. The paper will present a practical single-phase-to-ground fault location based on fault generated traveling waves acquired from one phase current transducer and zero sequence current transducer at first. Then implementation of the novel fault locator is proposed including hardware design and software flowchart. At last field tests will be made to verify the feasibility of the fault locator. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper studies the fault current frequency spectrum characteristics of single phase ground fault in ungrounded distribution networks, and the fault location method based on it. Firstly, it analyzes the production mechanism of 2nd major frequency component, and the relationship between the 2nd major frequency component and series resonance frequency of the faulted line. Secondly, from the perspectives of lumped-parameter circuit, the relationship between 2nd major frequency component and fault location is deduced. Simulation cases are used to confirm the relationship. Last, the impact of load and initial fault phase angle on the 2nd major frequency component are researched. Simulation research proves the feasibility of the fault detection and location method based on frequency domain characteristics. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper analyzes the general process of power flow transferring and divides it into four parts: 1) the process of first phase selection after fault occurs;2) the process of selective action at the first time;3) the process of second phase selection and status confirmation;4) the process after status confirmation. It points out that the issue of asymmetrical flow transferring is a critical process which must be put emphasis on. Then it proposes a method to identify this process, and discuss different solution methods. © 2011 IEEE.

Based on deep investigation to the static and dynamic characteristics of Hammerstein and Wiener model structures, this paper proposes an included angle based nonlinearity measure for SISO Hammerstein-like systems. The proposed measure is instrumental for both analysis and synthesis of nonlinear systems, especially when a multilinear model controller is designed. A CSTR process is studied to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed nonlinearity measure. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, a double-mode terminal, which combined GSM-R terminal and MANET functions, is proposed. When natural disaster, terrorist attack or other accident occurs, GSM-R network's Base Station (BS) may be destroyed, and then the terminal can switch into MANET mode, and take over the emergency task. Meanwhile, an emergency communication system model is established, based on an example of Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway. Voice Group Call Service (VGCS) is widely used in GSM-R emergency communication, but the existing MANET multicast routing protocol can not support VGCS. We propose a new MANET multicast routing protocol called EGCMRP, which is improved from ODMRP. Then, a simulation comparing EGCMRP with ODMRP by ns2 is given. The simulation results show that the EGCMRP has better performance such as delivery ratio, delay and routing load than ODMRP in the proposed model, and meet with the requirement of the application of railway emergency group call. © 2011 IEEE.

The CTCS-3 (Chinese Train control System Level 3) technical standards system has been adopted for the train control system of railway lines with speed of 350km/h and above in China. In this paper, the requirements of the interoperability of CTCS-3 onboard equipment was firstly analyzed in depth, to definite the features of the interoperability test;secondly the testing methodology of the interoperability test of CTCS-3 were studied and compared, and the testing method suitable for independent third-party interoperability testing was discussed, in addition the structure and basic working principle of the test bench for interoperability testing of CTCS-3 on-board equipment was described. The research results of this paper can provide a guidance for how to carry out lab.ratory interoperability test and how to establish the third-party interoperability test lab.ratory.

According to the analysis of an engineering case of building sump of Jintan salt cavern, some problems existing in the engineering case are discussed. The experience and lesson are summarized, and some ideas and suggestions are proposed. Then, some key factors that should be considered in the design progress of solution mining are discussed. The necessity of determining limit diameter of cavern roof is expounded. And a method of calculating limit exposed diameter of cavern roof is presented. With this method, the limit roof diameters of some salt caverns are studied basing on simulation test. The limit roof diameters of salt caverns with different lateral solution angles and cavern heights are obtained, and their laws are studied.

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy have been applied in research of four different varieties of Chinese green tea, the absorption and refractive Terahertz Spectrum of these tea were got in the range of 0.2 to 1.5 THz. Least Squares Support Vector Machines, Naive Bayes and Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network were applied to achieve Multi-class classification of these four kinds of tea, and the classification results of three algorithms were analyzed in detail. The results shows that support vector machine have better classification results in the experiment. This study demonstrated the feasibility of time-domain Terahertz Spectroscopy for the classification of difference kinds of tea. © 2011 IEEE.

The present track quality assessment method for maintenance work is based on pure geometrical assessment quantities. This leads to a weak correlation between the assessment quantities and the vehicle response forces. Geometric track irregularities are one of the most important excitation parameters for a railway vehicle. The track excitation leads to high vibrations and therefore to dynamic vehicle response forces. The track quality assessment is essential for the maintenance work. Our proposed method for track geometry assessment calculates a vehicle response prediction based on mechanism modeling. In this paper, the coupling thought of vehicle and track is applied, the vertical vehicle-track coupling mechanism model is set up. The track vertical profile irregularities are regarded as stationary ergodic Gaussian random processes. The results show that the geometry parameters which is not exceed still could cause excessive wheel-rail forces and brings threat to safety in vehicle operation. © 2011 ASCE.

Hammerstein models are popular in describing nonlinear chemical processes. The general control strategy for Hammerstein models is the nonlinearity inversion method, which is unfortunately inapplicable to Hammerstein systems with input multiplicity. To overcome this difficulty, a Multi-PID control approach is proposed. Thus, a complex control problem is solved by a conventional and easy control strategy. A Heat Exchanger process is simulated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Multi-PID control approach. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.
