Cooperative behavior has been of great concern in evolutionary game researches because of its important role in social life and natural evolution. Since memory can greatly influence the emergence of cooperative behavior, memory-based research on evolutionary games has proliferated in recent years. In the present paper, inspired by the well-known “Stanford marshmallow experiment” (SME), we proposed a multi-memory mechanism in Snowdrift game (SDG) on spatial lattice networks whose core lies in what follows: Players are divided into two groups according to individual self-control; different memory lengths are set by group and by time in a single realization. The simulation results show that our proposed mechanism promotes cooperation level of the considered evolutionary game. More specifically, as memory length increases to an intermediate length, the cooperation level increases as well. For mechanism with short memory length, the effect of population structure is obvious and small values of adjusting factor can intensively facilitate high-frequency cooperative behavior. These findings may be helpful to understand the connection between population heterogeneity and the emergence of high cooperation.

Sports performance is often judged based on the results of a series of motions rather than observing and analyzing the detailed sequential motions that lead to the results. Hence, subjective feedback from the coaches is often ineffective in improving player performance. In this work, we custom-built a smart Internet of Things wristband motion sensor to implement data-based sports performance evaluation. A phase-based feature selection method is also proposed to assess the athletes' sequential detailed motion for selected sport activities. To demonstrate the merits of this technology, we quantified the quality of the sequential motions of a specific type of volleyball serve by analyzing 183 samples of motion data obtained from a total of 18 players. The general skill levels (i.e., elite, subelite, and amateur) of the players were identified by machine learning algorithms, with accuracies of up to 95%. Moreover, we adopted biomechanical principles to extract 11 motion-related performance metrics from various phases of the players' serve motion. We identified the distributions of these metrics across different skill levels and found eight key metrics that were highly correlated to the skill level of a players. We suggest that these metric distributions can be used as a reference for providing feedback to the coaches and players, to improve a player's skill in the future. This phased-based analysis method can potentially be applied across many sports to increase the effectiveness of athletes' training. © 2014 IEEE.

Model Predictive control with Reach-avoid Analysis

In this paper we investigate the optimal controller synthesis problem, so that the system under the controller can reach a specified target set while satisfying given constraints. Existing model predictive control (MPC) methods learn from a set of discrete states visited by previous (sub-)optimized trajectories and thus result in computationally expensive mixed-integer nonlinear optimization. In this paper a novel MPC method is proposed based on reach-avoid analysis to solve the controller synthesis problem iteratively. The reach-avoid analysis is concerned with computing a reach-avoid set which is a set of initial states such that the system can reach the target set successfully. It not only provides terminal constraints, which ensure feasibility of MPC, but also expands discrete states in existing methods into a continuous set (i.e., reach-avoid sets) and thus leads to nonlinear optimization which is more computationally tractable online due to the absence of integer variables. Finally, we evaluate the proposed method and make comparisons with state-of-the-art ones based on several examples. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Marker or Markerless? Mode-Switchable Optical Tactile Sensing for Diverse Robot Tasks

Optical tactile sensors play a pivotal role in robot perception and manipulation tasks. The membrane of these sensors can be painted with markers or remain markerless, enabling them to function in either marker or markerless mode. However, this uni-modal selection means the sensor is only suitable for either manipulation or perception tasks. While markers are vital for manipulation, they can also obstruct the camera, thereby impeding perception. The dilemma of selecting between marker and markerless modes presents a significant obstacle. To address this issue, we propose a novel mode-switchable optical tactile sensing approach that facilitates transitions between the two modes. The marker-to-markerless transition is achieved through a generative model, whereas its inverse transition is realized using a sparsely supervised regressive model. Our approach allows a single-mode optical sensor to operate effectively in both marker and markerless modes without the need for additional hardware, making it well-suited for both perception and manipulation tasks. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our method. For perception tasks, our approach decreases the number of categories that include misclassified samples by 2 and improves contact area segmentation IoU by 3.53%. For manipulation tasks, our method attains a high success rate of 92.59% in slip detection. The topic of how cooperation emerges and develops in the real world has been intensively studied. Many mechanisms and models have been proposed to explain this complex phenomenon with the idealized assumption that all players are homogeneous or have little heterogeneity. This paper investigates the evolution of the public goods game with multiple heterogeneities. Roughly speaking, the quantity of investment (by a cooperator), punishment (received by a defector), or cost (paid by a punisher) is not fixed but depends on specific evolutionary situation. Moreover, heterogeneity is also introduced in expected payoff of each player for the strategy updating rule. Multi-heterogeneity makes the considered model more realistic. The simulation experiment shows that the combination of modified punishment mechanism and strategy updating rule can promote cooperation density in both the multi-heterogeneity and homogeneity models. © 2022, The Authors. In the coal mine gas drainage, the gas drainage in gob has a dominant position. According to different stages of the production, the mining areas are divided into the gob, the old one and the abandoned one. Gas drainage of gob has an important influence on mining propulsion. Through comparative analysis of various drainage methods, exclusive tunnel pumping method will gradually be eliminated with the promotion of directional drilling technique in the roof construction and application. Large diameter roof horizontal directional long drill hole will replace the roof pumping lane, the roof short drilling, and gob buried drainage pipe. Some old gob has begun experiments of ground wells. A well used repeatedly can maximize the drainage of gas in the future, along with one-well three-purpose technology continues to be mature. The true sense of the abandoned mine gas drainage is still blank in China, according to the experience of foreign pumping, the ground large diameter bored construction will become a reasonable choice in obsolete mine gob gas drainage. © Geology Resource Management and Sustainable *** right reserved.

The stretchable conductive materials with adjustable electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance and other multifunctional integrated applications are remarkably desirable and challenging in flexible electronics. However, the existing stretchable materials often suffer from the decay of EMI shielding performance during the stretching process, which limits their practical applications. Meanwhile, it remains a great challenge to construct materials with ordered porous frameworks as integrated shielding devices. Incorporating porous structure will generate abundant interior surfaces/interfaces, facilitating multiple reflections of incident electromagnetic waves (EMWs). Herein, we employ ultrasound method to modify liquid metal (LM) with carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and further utilize an UV in-situ polymerization method to fabricate CNT@LM/polyacrylamide/gelatin (LMCPG) dual network hydrogel elastomer. The LMCPG hydrogel elastomer possesses high strength and durability, and its tensile strength reaches 117 kPa at 1033 % strain owing to the high strength of the rigid network and the beneficial deformation ability of the flexible network. Deformable CNT@LM droplets elongate randomly during stretching process, which facilitates establishing more conductive paths. The EMI shielding capacity of the stretched elastomer can be controlled, achieving an intelligent on-off behavior, which exhibits a 211 % increase at 200 % strain in EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) compared with the undeformed state. Moreover, the LMCPG elastomer shows a significant triboelectric performance, which can provide power supply for flexible electronic devices, achieving an uninterrupted monitoring of the human body motion by devices. Therefore, as a flexible electronic material, it can offer a facile solution to achieve intelligent multifunctional integrated EMI shielding materials. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Deposition and aggregation of scale on microbial surface leads to poor stabilization of the treatment of oilfield high-scale oily wastewater. To study the deposition characteristics of scale on the surface of microbial particles, we perform the deposition and aggregation of calcium sulfate on the surface of clay particles as simulators of microbes and establish the deposition-aggregation process model. According to the theory of crystal growth, the diffuse electric double layer theory for clay, and the charged colloid theory, the scale deposition model can be divided into induction period, formative period of scale crystal nucleation, and crystal growth period. When calcium sulfate crystals deposit and aggregate on the surface of clay particles, the zeta potential and the average particle size on the surface of the clay particles increase continuously over time and tend to increase and decrease in cycles. The scale crystals are wrapped divergently around the surface of the clay particles in a needle-like form, such that the clay suspension is in a state of high aggregation. Logarithmic value of the conductivity in the formation of scale crystal has a good linear relationship with time, which conforms to the first-order rate equation. Conductivity curves can better reflect the deposition course of scale crystal on the surface of clay particles, which is divided into the induction period (6 min), transition period (1.5 min), formative period of scale crystal nucleation (10.75 min), rapid growth period of scale crystal (8.5 min), slow growth period of scale crystal (14.75 min), and stationary phase (4.75 min), and with the formation of the scale crystal, the deposition rate constant decreases gradually from 0.00945 min-1 to 0.0001 min-1. The results uncovered that Deposition and aggregation rules of scale on the surface of clay particles and the basis for further studying on microbial surface. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Aiming at the problem that Distributed Optical Fiber Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system will misjudge external intrusion signals, an intrusion signal discrimination method based on MFCC-Energy entropy feature and FTO-SVM is proposed. Firstly, the former 13-dimensional Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) is extracted from the collected sound signal, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimension of MFCC;Secondly, the energy entropy of the collected sound signal is calculated, which fused with the reduced MFCC as the feature parameter of the collected sound signal;Finally, the extracted feature parameters are discriminated by using Support Vector Machine (SVM) with the hyperparameters optimized by the Fibonacci Tree Optimization (FTO) algorithm. The results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the system discrimination accuracy for intrusion signals, and is of great significance to perimeter security and fault diagnosis and other related fields. © 2022 SPIE.
