In cluster jobs have different characteristics, such as CPU intensive and I/O intensive. Many resource allocation strategies deal with CPU intensive jobs or I/O intensive jobs. However, few algorithms can deal with both of them. In this paper we propose an integrated resource allocation algorithm, which considers job characteristics. The proposed algorithm is based on an overhead model. The model can integrate the different job characteristics. Simulation results indicate that the proposed resource algorithm can effectively achieve improvement in average execution time compared with FIRSTAVAIlabLE. Moreover, proposed algorithm can promote system load balancing to some extent.

Geographic routing has been studied as an attractive approach due to its simplicity and scalability properties in routing for wireless sensor networks. The most influential geographic routing protocol is GPSR (Greedy Perimeter stateless Routing) and many geographic routing protocols are based on greedy forwarding routing. However, large routing protocol overhead, less reliability for long link and long average end-to-end delay are still the problems for this type of geographic routing protocol. In this paper, we start with another perspective of geographic information and propose a novel geographic routing protocol, RGRP (Reactive Geographic Routing Protocol), which combines reactive routing mechanism and geographic routing. In our algorithm, reactive routing mechanism is used to reduce the packets for routing discovery and end-to-end delay. Furthermore, geographic routing is used to find the optimal path in multitudinous paths. Finally, we make experiments and comparison between RGRP and GPSR. Simulation results exhibit superior performance of our protocol. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative style-wise advertising platform for web page. Web page "style" mainly refers to visual effects, such as color and layout. Unlike the most popular ad-network such as Google AdSense which needs publishers to change the original structure of their pages and define the position and style of the embedded ads manually, style-wise page advertising aims to automatically deliver style-consistent ads at proper positions within the web page, without breaking the layout of the original page. Our system is motivated from the fact that almost 90% web pages contain blank regions without any content. Given a web page with some blank regions, style-wise page advertising is able to detect the suitable blank areas for advertising, rank the ads according to the semantic relevance and web page style, and embed relevant ads into these nonintrusive areas. Style-wise page advertising represents one of the first attempts towards contextual advertising which enables the publishers to save effort when applying online advertising services. © 2010 International World Wide Web Conference Committee (IW3C2).

This paper is mainly to present a method to extend the network under Open MPI parallel environment. We walk through the Modular Component Architecture (MCA) and three core elements: framework, component and module comprised in the MCA. After an analysis of the point-to-point communication based on the network components in Open MPI, we present a method to extend a network by creating a network component under Byte Transfer Layer (BTL) framework, implementing the basic functions the component must have, configuring the network component to adjust to different architecture platforms and building the whole project to make the new component work in the framework. Finally we successfully extend the network of Open MPI with Hyper Transport (HT). By running a parallel program on the newly extended Open MPI based on HT. We prove the network extend method is accessible.

Network Virtualization has recently emerged to provide scalable, customized and on-demand virtual network services over a shared substrate network. How to provide VN services with resiliency guarantees against network failures has become a critical issue, meanwhile the service resource usages should be minimized under the strict constraints such as link bandwidth capability and service resiliency guarantees etc. In this paper, we present a resource allocation algorithm to balance the tradeoff between service resource consumptions and service resiliency. By exploiting a heuristic VN mapping scheme and a restoration path selection scheme based on intelligent bandwidth sharing, the algorithm simultaneously makes cost-effective usage of network resources and protects VN services against network failures. We perform evaluations and find that the algorithm is near optimal in terms of network resource usage, especially the additional restoration bandwidth cost for resiliency protection.

To efficiently construct the profile in 3D geological model expressed by triangular mesh and rapidly cut the model into separated parts, a new idea is presented in large scale compatible triangular mesh. It promotes the stratums surface meshes to volume model, and then treats the profile generation process as the isosurface extraction process in the model. A new method called Marching Prisms (MP) used to construct the isosurface. Using a divide-and-conquer approach to generate inter-slice connectivity, the MP algorithm uses a case table to define the inter-slice triangle topology in tri-prism cells just like the marching cubes algorithm in cube grids. After using linear interpolation to calculate the location of inter-slice triangle vertices, the MP algorithm uses the distance from every vertex of a prism to the isosurface to index the cases from the case table. According to the practical application, MP algorithm also can handle the ambiguous conditions in isosurface construction. To get the separated parts of the original meshes by the cutting, it is only need to modify the topology on top and bottom of the intersected prisms. Results from demo applications illustrate that the marching prisms is effective and efficient.

Trustworthy and composite web services play important roles in service-oriented systems. Web services choreography as one important approach of composing web services describes the global model of service interactions among a set of participants. Bisimilar analysis that checks whether two choreographies are behavioural equivalent is an important verification approach for trustworthy composition. This paper discusses strong and weak bisimilarity of choreographies. Internal and external roles are distinguished from special roles that we hope to verify their observable behaviours. A language named Chor which is based on abstract syntax of WS-CDL is proposed to describe behaviours. In Chor, internal roles and internal activities among them are abstracted for their no effect on externally observable behaviour. A real example is presented to illustrate the usages and benefits of the formal analysis.

The problem of belief revision and specification evolution has been studied for years. Different methods have been proposed to solve this problem. However, the problem of efficiency has not been solved well. Therefore, this paper proposes a revision algorithm based on assignment equivalence classes to improve the efficiency of the delegate model based algorithm. The new algorithm follows the same structure of the delegate model based algorithm but reduces the times of model checking. Concepts such as delegate models of a proposition set and sub-assignment equivalence classes are introduced, and relevant properties are also proved. The new algorithm is implemented, which has a better performance than before.

This paper aims at the research on how the amount of internal nodes of a high productivity computer system using 2-D Mesh as its interconnection network influence the quality and speed of communication. In the experiments, we treat the InfiniBand adapter as the basic unit in 2-D Mesh topology, which can represent the interconnect network in our work more precisely, and use Opnet as the virtual experiment platform on which we conducted five experiments using 2-D Mesh interconnection structure with five different kinds of amount of nodes. The result should be helpful to the selection of the node topology which is of great importance to the establishment of a high productivity computer system. The following factors are taken into account to represent in a quantitative way the quality of communication and the scalability of the system: the latency of the transmission, the maximum throughput and the ratio of valid packets received.
