Achieving an Accurate Random Process Model for PV power Using Cheap Data:Leveraging the SDE and Public Weather Reports

Stochastic differential equation (SDE)-based random process models of renewable energy sources (RESs) jointly capture evolving probability distribution and temporal correlation in continuous time. It enabled recent studies to remarkably improve performance of power system dynamic uncertainty quantification and optimization. However, considering the non-homogeneous random process nature of PV, there still remains a challenging question: how can a realistic and accurate daily SDE model for PV power be obtained that reflects its weather-dependent and non-Gaussian uncertainty in operation, especially when high-resolution numerical weather prediction (NWP) or sky imager is unavailable for many distributed plants? To fill this gap, this article finds that an accurate SDE model for PV power can be constructed only using the data from low-resolution public weather reports. Specifically, for each day, an hourly parameterized Jacobi diffusion process recreates temporal patterns of PV volatility. Its parameters are mapped from the day's public weather reports to reflect varying weather conditions using a simple learning model. The SDE model jointly captures intraday and intrahour volatility. Statistical examination shows that the proposed approach outperforms a selection of the latest deep learning-based time series models on real-world data collected in Macao.

Compared to Si IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs can reduce switching losses, achieve higher switching frequencies and enable smaller converter size. However, due to the high dv/dt of SiC MOSFETs, certain topologies, such as two SiC MOSFETs in a phase-leg configuration, are highly sensitive to crosstalk, which can slow down switching speed and even reduce gate oxide's lifetime. In this paper, an accurate model of crosstalk is established by considering the impacts of both dv/dt and di/dt in the power loop. The proposed model can simulate the gate-source voltage on bare die of SiC MOSFETs, allowing for a more accurate evaluation of the impact of crosstalk. Model verification is implemented using a double pulse test (DPT) platform and a gate driver with active miller clamp technology. key parameters of the model are extracted from both 3D simulation models and measurement experiments. The DPT waveform of power loop is used as the excitation source in the simulation, and the simulated gate-source waveform shows good agreement with the experimental waveform. Based on the model, parameter sensitivity analysis is performed, and suggestions for improving crosstalk suppression are proposed. © 2023 The Korean Institute of power Electronics.

Flexible low-frequency AC transmission technology combines the advantages of 50 Hz AC transmission and DC transmission, and has good application scenarios. High voltage and large capacity AC/AC converters are the core equipment of flexible low-frequency AC transmission systems. The proposal of half-wave commutated modular multilevel converters effectively reduces the number of components and improves system economy. In view of this, this paper proposes an overvoltage suppression strategy for active control of inductor current, which effectively reduces the overvoltage level during commutation. The article first introduces the sparse topology and mathematical model of the half-wave commutated modular multilevel converters. Secondly, the mechanism of overvoltage generation is analyzed. Then, overvoltage suppression strategies are proposed. Finally, a PSCAD simulation model is built to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of cities, underground tunnels are more and more widely used, and the reinforced concrete in their walls can be used as the natural grounding body of the tunnels. However, underground tunnels have curved structures, multiple cross-sections and deep-buried structures, and the electrical conductivity of the concrete is different from that of the soil, etc., and the traditional analytical method has limitations in calculating the grounding resistance of the tunnels in these cases. In order to satisfy the needs of practical engineering, this paper adopts a numerical method based on the MoM numerical method to analyze the grounding system of underground tunnels with complex geometries and to calculate the grounding resistance of reinforced concrete systems in underground tunnels. In order to assess the difference between the analytical solution and the exact solution, the article introduces a correction factor to measure the ratio between the two. simulations are carried out for real cases, and the results show that the accuracy of the analytical solution can be improved by introducing the correction factor. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. An equivalent modeling method for integrated water-wind-solar systems based on sparrow search algorithm

In the context of extensive integration of renewable energy sources into the electrical grid, the grid's fault transient behaviors have undergone significant changes. However, conventional single-unit equivalent models fail to accurately capture the fault transient responses of combined wind-solar-hydro power stations and often require substantial computational resources, leading to reduced simulation efficiency. This study proposes a cluster-based equivalent modeling approach for hybrid wind-solar-hydro power plants using the Sparrow Search Algorithm. key factors influencing fault characteristics, including the distance to the Point of Common Coupling, DC-side current-limiting measures, irradiance levels, water flow rates, wind speeds, and reactive power at the outlet, are identified and used to construct a transient model. Euclidean distances are computed for these factors, and initial clustering centers for wind turbines are determined using an improved max–min distance technique. These factors and clustering centers serve as the training dataset to establish the clustering equivalent model. simulation results, conducted on the MATLAB2022 platform, demonstrate that the SSA-based model outperforms the single-unit equivalent model by over 150 times in terms of accuracy. Additionally, the SSA-based model achieves a delay time, defined as the time required to compute the system's transient response after a fault, of less than 5 ms, which is less than one-twentieth of the delay time of the single-unit equivalent model. These improvements highlight the model's ability to accurately capture dynamic power responses under various disturbances, making it highly suitable for real-time applications in hybrid renewable energy systems. © The Author(s) 2025.

The task scheduling problem based on directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) has been proven to be NP-complete in general cases or under certain restrictions. In this paper, building upon existing scheduling algorithms, we introduce a static task scheduling algorithm based on directed acyclic graphs. By incorporating the proportion of task transmission delay as a guiding metric in the optimization process, processors can be prioritized for tasks with high latency, thereby improving computational efficiency. We first validate the theoretical feasibility of the algorithm using a theoretical case study and illustrate the algorithmic effectiveness using two real case studies, direct current (DC) model and alternating current (AC) model respectively. The research indicates that the scheduling algorithm proposed in this paper achieves an average scheduling length improvement of over 1.2% compared to the Heterogeneous Earliest-Finish-Time algorithm (HEFT) in topologies with high latency tasks. Additionally, the experiments show that the HEFT algorithm consumes 39.85us and the EMT-DM algorithm consumes 38.29us during simulation using DC, and the HEFT algorithm consumes 31.23us and the EMT-DM algorithm consumes 26.51us during simulation using AC, both of which are improved compared to the HEFT algorithm. © The Author(s) 2025.

Static DC and PR are typical operation conditions of HVDC converter transformer bushing outlet device, moreover, the electrical parameters of RIP, transformer oil and OIP have the nonlinear relationship with E-field stress and temperature. Under the temperature gradient, the electrical parameters will modify the static DC and PR E-field distribution of the composite insulation. In order to simulate static DC and PR electric field of the composite insulation structure, this paper established the full model of the converter transformer outlet. Then, the structure parameters of converter transformer outlet have been optimized using combined RBF neural network and NSGA-II algorithm. Moreover, electric field verification calculation has been carried out under AC and PR conditions. The results show that under uniform temperature condition, E-field strength is larger than that under iso-thermal condition. The overshoot coefficient of the bushing end and barrier reach 65% and 45%, respectively. The study can provide reference for the design of outlet structure of the converter transformer. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, the pivot role of permanent-magnet pole in the electromagnetic and mechanical transfer process of the vibration in PMDC motor is clarified, and the transfer function is established to describe the transfer process of electromagnetic force from the bottom of the magnetic pole to the stator yoke. The expression of radial electromagnetic force in air-gap is analytically calculated, the characteristics of harmonic components are obtained, and the reason why high order force density produces low order concentrated force and bending moment is explained. Based on the characteristics of harmonics, the relationship between the polar arc coefficient and concentrated force or bending moment is explained. Finally, the key role of magnetic poles in the vibration transmission of PMDC motor is summarized. © 2022 IEEE.

Enhancing the electrical performance of silicone rubber (SiR) for cable accessories is noteworthy as they are almost the weakest parts of the cable system. Two types of voltage stabilizers were grafted onto the surface of nano-zirconia (ZrO2) particles, and the grafted nanoparticles were added to the SiR. Measurements such as breakdown strength, and conductivity were carried out to evaluate the electrical performance of SiR nanocomposites. The electrical performance measurement results indicated that the breakdown strength of the nanocomposite SiR improved while the conductance current was reduced. The trap distribution showed that the improvement of the electrical performance of the nanocomposite SiR is mainly due to the decrease of the shallow trap density or the increase of the deep trap density. © 2023 IEEE.
