Networked control systems(NCSs) are facing a great challenge from the limitation of network communication resources. Event-triggered control(ETC) is often used to reduce the amount of communications while still keeping a satisfactory performance of the system, by transmitting the state measurements only when an event-triggered condition is met. However,some network-induced problems would happen inevitably, such as communication delay. The delay can degrade the control performance significantly and can even lead to instability. In this paper, we study an NCS considering both ETC and time-varying delay, which is rare in the literature. We formulate the system as a discretized piecewise linear system with exponential uncertainty. Then the model is embedded in a polytopic approximation with better structure suitable for stability *** conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Finally, the developed method is illustrated by a numerical example.

Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) technology has shown its potential in the field of indoor positioning in recent years,and has been widely used in large establishments such as the airport lobby,supermarkets,libraries,underground parking and so ***,the complexity of the indoor environments make positioning a challenging problem in terms of accuracy,stability,reliability,and interference *** this paper,we develop an algorithm of passive RFID indoor positioning based on interval Kalman filter,according to the geometric constraints of responding tags,combined with the target motion *** interval Kalman filter is adopted to integrate target position of one preceding time point and reference tags position to estimate the current *** of this algorithm is to use passive tags to reduce hardware costs,and on the other hand the introduction of filtering algorithm improves the positioning accuracy.

Traffic sign recognition is an important topic in driver assistant system and intelligent autonomous vehicles. Traffic sign detection is a critical step, whose performance greatly affect the performance and computation cost of traffic sign recognition. In this paper, we propose a traffic sign detection method based on a scoring SVM model. First, traffic sign color and color gradient are extracted according to their color characteristics. Then, the shape of traffic sign is computed by a voting scheme, yielding shape score maps. After that, the score maps of traffic signs are used to train a SVM model. Compared with single traffic sign score value, the score map is more efficient to verify the existence of a traffic sign. Finally, the trained SVM model is used to detect traffic signs. Experiments show that the proposed method is more effective than the voting based method to detect traffic signs.

Multi-player pursuit–evasion games with one superior evader

Inspired by the hunting and foraging behaviors of group predators, this paper addresses a class of multi-player pursuit–evasion games with one superior evader, who moves faster than the pursuers. We are concerned with the conditions under which the pursuers can capture the evader, involving the minimum number and initial spatial distribution required as well as the cooperative strategies of the pursuers. We present some necessary or sufficient conditions to regularize the encirclement formed by the pursuers to the evader. Then we provide a cooperative scheme for the pursuers to maintain and shrink the encirclement until the evader is captured. Finally, we give some examples to illustrate the theoretical results.

Nowadays, urban parking circumstances are becoming more and more challenging. To solve this problem, many methods have been proposed, such as infrastructure expansion, economic leverage and technical theory. However, these solutions are generally used independently, thus it is infeasible to solve all existing problems. Therefore, a novel and revolutionary solution is urgently required. In this paper, we first comprehensively investigate the background of parking difficulties, and find that all of the current existing solutions are not able to meet the requirements of dynamic, systematization, high efficiency and accuracy. Then we briefly introduce the parallel theory, and propose the intelligent parking system based on the parallel theory, which can provide a systematic intelligent solution to meet the needs of current parking systems. The parallel parking system is made up of three parts, including the artificial system, the computational experiments, and the parallel execution. The proposed parallel parking system not only provides a novel direction to solve the parking problem, but also is an important guidance for the specific implementation of parallel parking theory.

In this article, I would like to share my daughter's experience on self-STEAM education. In our daily life, she can always find problems and then dream them with her imagination, finally narrows down her solutions to solve problems in her own way. During these problem-solving processes, I noticed that she went through sciences, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics in a very natural way. So I would like to say, STEAM is the way we learn and grow ever since we were born. But later at school, we are trained in a way that subjects are completely disconnected. It might take time to change this situation at school, but at home, as parents, we need to realize that children can discover new things by themselves even from young ages, and provide rich learning environment for them and let them “STEAM” themselves in their own way.

Internet inquiry is playing an increasingly important role as the complement of the traditional medical service system, especially the similar cases recommendation. It can not only save the patients' waiting time, but also make use of the historical resources, for many cases with the same purpose have been solved perfectly. However, because of the diversity and non-standard of the patients' descriptions, the inquiry platform cannot find the cases with similar semantic easily. Most traditional retrieval methods require the overlap of two sentences, and this is not suitable with the diversity and non-standard descriptions. In this paper, we try to utilize the sentences' semantic representation in a continuous space to understand the cases, and then recommend the similar cases. We also incorporate it into query likelihood language models, trying to get better results. Our experimental data are all collected from a real internet inquiry platform, and the results show that our methods significantly outperform the state-of-the-art translation based methods for similar cases recommendation.

The origin of artificial intelligence is investigated, based on which the concepts of hybrid intelligence and parallel intelligence are presented. The paradigm shift in Intelligence indicates the ''new normal'' of cyber-social-physical systems (CPSS), in which the system behaviors are guided by Merton's Laws. Artificial Transportation systems (ATS) can support a variety of computational experiments for different purposes, and have become important tools for transportation research. However, when the road network modeled in ATS is large or there are a lot of vehicles, ATS will run very slow or even cannot be started due to the memory limit of a standalone computer. With the acceleration of urbanization process and rapid increase of car ownership, it is necessary to find a high-performance computing method for running large-scale ATS. Therefore, the paper presents an Erlang-based approach to realize concurrent and distributed computing of ATS. To verify the feasibility, a prototype is built, and a performance test is conducted. The results show the method can achieve the efficiency utilization of computing resources.
