Research on Multi-objective Active Power Optimization Simulation of Novel Improved Water Cycle Algorithm

Water cycle algorithm (WCA) is a heuristic algorithm proposed in recent years. To overcome the insufficiency of standard WCA algorithm in solving the non-convex optimal power flow (OPF) problems, the multi-objective novel improved water cycle algorithm (MONIWCA) is proposed in this paper. The evaporation process is improved in WCA by introducing evaporation rate and the normal distribution optimization mechanism is used to mutate the individual position. The modified WCA also adopts a constraint-based strategy to ensure zero constraint violations. In order to obtain a high-quality Pareto optimal solution set (POS) and select the best compromise solution (BCs), a global ranking strategy is proposed. The global ranking strategy includes the novel constraint handling method, the rank index calculation and the BCs on fuzzy satisfaction theory to deal with the complex constraints of the optimization problem. The MONIWCA has been simulated under the constraints of zero violations on IEEE 30, IEEE 57 and IEEE 118 standard test systems, including six dual-objective cases and one tri- objective case. The simulation results are compared with the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). The results show that the improved method can effectively solve the MOOPF problem, not only to obtain a uniform continuous Pareto solution set but also to achieve a better compromise solution. In addition, the two performance indicators of the generational distance (GD) and the spacing (SP) also show that the MONIWCA algorithm has uniform distribution, high convergence and strong stability. © 2021, IAENG International Journal of Applied Mathematics. Robotic systems driven by artificial muscles present unique challenges due to the nonlinear dynamics of actuators and the complex designs of mechanical structures. Traditional model-based controllers often struggle to achieve desired control performance in such systems. Deep reinforcement learning (DRL), a trending machine learning technique widely adopted in robot control, offers a promising alternative. However, integrating DRL into these robotic systems faces significant challenges, including the requirement for large amounts of training data and the inevitable sim-to-real gap when deployed to real-world robots. This paper proposes an efficient reinforcement learning control framework with sim-to-real transfer to address these challenges. Bootstrap and augmentation enhancements are designed to improve the data efficiency of baseline DRL algorithms, while a sim-to-real transfer technique, namely randomization of muscle dynamics, is adopted to bridge the gap between simulation and real-world deployment. Extensive experiments and ablation studies are conducted utilizing two string-type artificial muscle-driven robotic systems including a two degree-of-freedom robotic eye and a parallel robotic wrist, the results of which demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed learning control strategy. Micromanipulation techniques that can achieve controlled fine operations at the micro scale play an important role in biomedical fields including embryo engineering, gene engineering, drug screening, and cell analysis. However, micromanipulation of biological micro-objects, such as cells and micro tissues, suffers from mechanical damage and low efficiency. Several techniques have been introduced to manipulate cells more easily, but most of them are restricted by expensive devices, limited work area, and potential damage to cellular structure. Here we develop a hydrodynamic manipulation method to rotate and transport mouse oocytes, which utilizes acoustic waves and micropipette to generate acoustic radiation force and excite microstreaming. This method can accomplish rotational and translational operations precisely and controllably. We tested the process of trapping, rotation, and transportation of the mouse oocytes, and measured rotational and translational speed with a range of applied voltage. The method was able to shorten the cost time of delivery and posture adjustment before oocyte injection. Our study provides an easy-to-use technique for oocyte manipulation without contact, and it has the potential to be universally applied in many cellular studies.

Degraded driving performance is closely related to distracted driving behavior. Therefore, in this paper we introduce a fast and accurate convolution neural network (CNN) architecture named CMFFNet, which is designed for the edge devices with limited computational resources and application scenario of detecting driver distraction. CMFFNet is built on a multi-branch architecture that uses CMFF blocks to guarantee efficiency. CMFF block is based on depth-wise separable convolution, which consists of a CMFF module, a multi-branch structure fuses filtered multi-scale spatial information to enhance feature representation capability, followed by a MAPGC bottleneck, utilizing two point-wise group convolutions and a channel shuffle operation to implement efficient channel projection. Compare with recently proposed lightweight CNNs, CMFFNet can achieve better performance on stateFarm’s Dataset, e.g. higher accuracy (absolute 5.5%) and lower latency (about 18 ms) compared with MobileNetV3-Large. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The role of green HRM in driving a firm's green competitive advantage: the mediating role of green organizational identity

Despite the significant contribution made by green human resource management (GHRM) towards the firm's green performance, scholars have not given adequate attention to how GHRM contributes to the green competitiveness of a firm. This situation, therefore, presents a major gap for scholars in green management to fill. We draw on the Ability Motivation Opportunity theory to examine how GHRM drives GCA in a firm. Grounded on this theory, we develop a hypothetical model that is tested by survey data collected from the Chinese manufacturing sector. The results reveal that firms can capitalize on GHRM to build a green competitive advantage (GCA). The findings further illuminate the necessary conditions of green organizational identity (GOI) and green leadership (GL). We believe that the utility and originality of this paper provides a nuanced understanding of how firms can derive GCA from GHRM. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Hand paralysis caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, or neurological trauma has a significant impact on the independence and quality of life of the patients. The hand exoskeleton can provide hand assistance and improve the patient's grasp. In this article, a novel wearable flexible hand exoskeleton is proposed to assist users in activities of daily life. To create a simple and lightweight assistive hand exoskeleton, 3D printing is used to manufacture most of the components, and a remote drive system is designed to reduce the weight of the hand exoskeleton. A ball pair device and a slider device are used to ensure the freedom of the thumb and the adaptability of the hand exoskeleton to different hand sizes. Finally, the experiments are conducted to verify that the hand exoskeleton can achieve motion assistance. © 2022 IEEE.

Accurate estimation for state-of-health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries is critical to ensure the security and durability of battery operation. Accordingly, this paper proposes a SOH estimation method based on Attention-LSTM neural network using the partial charging features. First, features are extracted from partial constant-current charging curves. Second, Pearson coefficient analysis is employed to analysis the mapping relationship between extracted features and SOH. Third, an Attention-LSTM network is utilized to realize the SOH estimation. The attention mechanism can adaptively assign weights to the input features and time steps, thereby improving the estimation accuracy. Validation experiments are conducted on public dataset from NASA Ames Prognostics Center of Excellence. The experimental results highlight that the proposed method has higher accuracy and robustness compared with other approaches.

Catalytic filters including catalytic bag filters and catalytic filter candles, which couple the filters with denitrification catalysts to obtain the ability to simultaneously remove SOx, NOx and dust, have become the promising applied technology for the integrated flue gas treatment because of their huge advantages in reducing the initial investment, floor occupancy and maintenance cost. In this review, we will summarize the recent advances in the development of catalytic filters in terms of their process principles, filter material, denitrification catalysts, structure-function relationships and industrial applications. Moreover, suggestions about the current challenges and future opportunities are also given from the viewpoints of catalysts and filter material design, catalytic filter preparation methods, and their poisoning and regeneration, etc. With the further development of theory and engineering research, the extensive industrial application of catalytic filters in the field of multiple pollutants flue gas treatment is highly anticipated in the future.

The power grid is a kind of national critical infrastructure directly affiliated to human daily life. Because of the vital functions and potentially significant losses, the power grid becomes an excellent target for many malicious attacks. Due to the special nonlinear measurements, many detection methods do not match the grid very well. The extended Kalman filter based detection is one of the few methods suitable for nonlinear system detection, and therefore can be used in power system to spot malicious attacks. However, the reliability and effectiveness of the extended Kalman filter based detection have not been fully studied and adequately guaranteed. By proposing a two-step false data injection attack strategy, this paper gives a stealthy way to inject false data of increasing magnitude into the power grid, which can eventually cause a certain degree of deviation of the grid state without being detected. In the simulation, the method proposed in this paper caused a voltage deviation of more than 25% before being discovered in the power system. © 2021 IEEE.
