Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) is a fundamental problem in mobile robotics as well as in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Traditional visual-SLAM systems, such as ORB-SLAM, deal with sparse features extracted from high gradient image regions. While being robust and stable to light changing, camera rotation and scale changing to some extent, they are easy to accumulate drifts and cannot provide high-level information of the environment. To solve this problem, we take advantage of state of the art object detectors and a robust ICP method to build a map made up of objects providing semantic information as well as extra constraints to original point-based SLAM system. What’s more, for indoor scenes where planar structures are common, we introduce plane landmarks into SLAM framework to reduce drift. Experiments show that the our method can build a semantically more meaningful map without reducing the original SLAM system’s performance remarkably. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Focus on the image compressing problem of unmanned aerial vehicle with high compression ratio, fixed compressing ratio and low computational complexity requirement, a low-complexity image-sequence compressing algorithm based on homography transformation was proposed. The image sequences were dynamically divided into framegroups according the data from airborne inertial navigation systems, and the intermediate frames in the same frame-group was bi-directionally predicted by the first-frame and the end-frame with homography transformation. The homography matrix was got approximately by the airborne inertial navigation systems firstly and then was accurately computed by fast multiple sub-areas template matching. At the end the first frame and the residual images of the intermediate frames of the same frame-group was merged into a big image and coded by JPEG2000 to generate fixed-size code streams. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm was with high compression performance, low computational complexity and excellent capacity for code-size control and will has good prospect in engineer. © 2010 IEEE.

At present, the detection and tracking of small target is developing rapidly and being widely used. In this paper, we proposed a real-time scene adaptive method for infrared small target detection and tracking in sea/sky background, while the imaging platform is moving at high speed. We use combination of scene recognition and the scene optimized target detection and tracking to realize scene adaptation. In this algorithm, we recognize the scene at first. By detecting the straight line through the image we can identify whether there exists a sea-sky line and recognize reflection of sunlight by detecting obvious texture at the same time. The results show that this algorithm can recognize the scene and realize the scene adaptive detection and tracking. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Two of the most significant factors in the success of today's system-on-chip (SoC) designs are the ability to deliver efficient access to off-chip high speed memory and the ability to be compatible with several different interface-timings of several different sorts of memories. And the scheduling scheme of data streams for multi-master and multi-outstanding requests situation in complex SoC should be considered carefully, too. This paper introduces a novel general external memory interface (GEMI) architecture for the high performance and high flexibility memory interface. Several techniques and methods, i.e. data and command buffers based on asynchronous FIFO, optimized bank management, multi-port access scheduler, request reorder unit, are proposed in this paper for fulfilling the requirements mentioned above. Some techniques are specially proposed for data streams scheduling in complex SoC. At the end of the paper, the simulation and tape-out results are provided. The whole implementation of architecture is proven to be not only functional and efficient, but also flexible and reusable by simulation and silicon verification. © 2008 IEEE.

A method of feature validity analysis is proposed in this research. More than 100 kinds of features which are commonly used in the remote sensing image analysis have been selected. In this process, we choose level set and Otsu segmentation methods to extract the target and use manually segmented target images as templates, based on the method, we can make a evaluation of these features validity especially the stability in multi-resolution. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

CNS/Pulsar Integrated Navigation Using Two-level Filter

To improve the position accuracy, a CNS (Celestial navigation system)/pulsar integrated navigation system with clock drift is proposed. In the pulsar navigation subsystem, the epoch-difference method is adopted to eliminate clock drift, but it induces colored noise. The two-level filter, which is composed of an UKF (Unscented Kalman filter) and an $\mathrm{H}_{\infty}$ filter in series connected, is proposed for fusing the data from the celestial navigation and pulsar navigation subsystems. The celestial navigation subsystem adopts the UKF because of its good performance in nonlinear estimation, while the pulsar navigation subsystem utilizes the $\mathrm{H}_{\infty}$ filter due to its robustness to colored noise. Compared with CNS and two CNS/pulsar integrated navigation methods without two-level filter, the proposed method can provide higher navigation accuracy. Simulation results show that the position estimation accuracy of the proposed method can achieve 140m in the presence of clock drift.

Automatic defect detection is more and more widely applied in the industrial field, and the accuracy of detection is significant for product quality control. However, the defect samples that can be collected in the industrial field are limited. Therefore, this paper proposes Cross-Domain Defect GAN, which can generate realistic and diverse defect samples in the absence of real defect data in the target domain. There are totally two generator-detector parts. The first part is to generate similar domain defect images according to the shape and the position of the defect mask generated in the previous stage. In this part, the similar domain defect image dataset is able to be further expanded. The second part is to convert the original similar domain defect images and defect images of similar domains which has generated in the first part are transferred to the target domain defect samples. There are two characteristics of our methods: (1) Generate target defect images without real defect images input;(2) Improve the structure of image-image translation network to meet our purpose. In addition, it also verifies the effectiveness of synthetic defect samples in training defect classification. © 2024 IEEE.

Object recognition is challenging problem in computer vision due to appearance variation and presence of visual clutter and occlusions. Recently manifolds are thought to be fundamental for visual perception, and manifold learning algorithms are developed for discovering intrinsical features. Selective visual attention mechanism provides tools to reduce computation cost and avoid the influence of clutter background. In this paper, we described a new object recognition method, the submanifold distance (SMD) algorithm, which is induced by the visual attention mechanism to provide complex object recognition. Experiments with airport remote sensing images illustrated that our proposed algorithm can recognize complex objects accurately, robustly and quickly. ©2010 IEEE.

The existing state-of-the-arts two-stage oriented object detectors have no significant improvement in the label assignment strategies, and the most widely-used one is the so-called Max IoU Assigner (MIA). In this paper, we first illustrate that MIA may cause matching conflicts in some cases, hinder the matching of ground-truth (GT) boxes with high-quality samples, which is extremely harmful to the training process. After that, we propose a Harmonized Label Assigner (HLA) for the oriented RPN, which can automatically harmonize the assignment priority of each GT box according to the corresponding number of candidate samples, solve the matching conflicts, and improve the detection accuracy of the two-stage oriented detectors. Finally, we implement the proposed HLA on Oriented R-CNN and conduct sufficient experiments on two public datasets (MAR20 and HRSC2016). Without tricks, our HLA significantly improves the detection accuracy of the detector to 83.97% mAP (on MAR20) and 90.42% mAP (on HRSC2016), respectively.

Scene imaging simulation is an indispensable work in passive millimeter-wave object detection and remote sensing. In this paper, a 3-D scene simulation model of passive millimeter-wave imaging based on ray-tracing is presented, with consideration of the essential affecting factors such as multiple reflections, sky radiation, polarization rotation and antenna pattern smoothing. In order to accelerate the ray-tracing process in simulation model, a fast ray-triangle intersection algorithm is adopted. The outdoor imaging experiment and scene imaging simulation are carried out to validate the presented method at 94GHz. From the results, it is shown that the speed of scene imaging simulation process is significantly improved and the simulated image is in good agreement with the measured brightness temperature image.
