The development of modern therapeutics has raised the requirement for controlled drug delivery system which is able to efficiently encapsulate bioactive agents and achieve their release at a desired rate satisfying the need of the practical *** this study,two kind of aqueous model drugs with different molecule weight,Congo red and albumin from bovine serum(BSA)were nanoencapsulated in poly(DL-lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)microspheres by emulsion *** the preparation process,the aqueous phase of drugs was added into the PLGA chloroform solution to form the emulsion *** emulsion was then electrosprayed to fabricate drugnanoencapsulated PLGA *** morphology of the PLGA microspheres was affected by the volume ratio of aqueous drug phase and organic PLGA phase(V_(w)/V_(o))and the molecule weight of model *** laser scanning microcopy showed the nanodroplets of drug phase were scattered in the PLGA microspheres homogenously with different distribution patterns related to V_(w)/V_(o).With the increase of the volume ratio of aqueous drug phase,the number of nanodroplets increased forming continuous phase gradually that could accelerate drug release ***,BSA showed a slower release rate from PLGA microspheres comparing to Congo red,which indicated the drug release rate could be affected by not only V_(w)/V_(o)but also the molecule weight of model *** brief,the PLGA microspheres prepared using emulsion electrospray provided an efficient and simple systemto achieve controlled drug release at a desired rate satisfying the need of the practices.

Three dimensional (3D) N, O and S doped carbon foam (NOSCF) is prepared as a substrate for vertically grown Ni(OH) nanosheets. As designed Ni(OH)/NOSCF possesses strong electrostatic interactions with OH ions due to many C[double bond, length as m-dash]O groups existing in NOSCF, which can facilitate the formation of crucial NiOOH intermediates during the OER process. CeO nanoparticles (NPs) of ∼3.3 nm in size are decorated on Ni(OH) nanosheets to design a highly efficient CeO/Ni(OH)/NOSCF electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The CeO NP decorated Ni(OH)/NOSCF not only exhibits a remarkably improved OER performance with an onset potential of 240 mV, outperforming most reported non-noble metal based OER electrocatalysts, but also possesses a small Tafel slope of 57 mV dec and excellent stability under different overpotentials. The synergistic effect of producing more active species of Ni and accelerating the charge transfer for Ni(OH)/NOSCF by the introduction of CeO NPs is also investigated. These results demonstrate the possibility of designing energy efficient OER catalysts with the assistance of earth abundant CeO-based catalysts.

Hierarchically porous hybrid TiO2 hollow spheres were solvothermally synthesized successfully by using tetrabutyl titanate as titanium precursor and hydrated metal sulfates as soft templates. The as-prepared TiO2 spheres with hierarchically pore structures and high specific surface area and pore volume consisted of highly crystallized anatase TiO2 nanocrystals hybridized with a small amount of metal oxide from the hydrated sulfate. The proposed hydrated-sulfate assisted solvothermal (HAS) synthesis strategy was demonstrated to be widely applicable to various systems. Evaluation of the hybrid TiO2 hollow spheres for the photo-decomposition of methyl orange (MO) under visible-light irradiation revealed that they exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity and durability.
