Using patterned conductive and insulating collection devices,fibrous patterns from polyvinyl pyrrolidone were fabricated by *** that the electrospun fibers tend to deposit along the direction of electric field line,when conductive patterned template is used as collector during electrospinning,the as-spun fibers tend to assemble onto the conductive grids,whereas the dropping fibers prefer to avoid insulation grid by concentrating toward the surface of the Al foil when an insulating grid based on Al foil is used as collector.

The energetically most stable orthorhombic structure of OsB2 and IrB2 is dynamically stable for OsB2 but unstable for IrB2. Both diborides have substantially lower shear strength in their easy slip systems than their metal counterparts. This is attributed to an easy sliding facilitated by out-of-plane weakening of metallic Os-Os bonds in OsB2 and by an in-plane bond splitting instability in IrB2. A much higher shear resistance of Os-B and B-B bonds than Os-Os ones is found, suggesting that the strengthened Os-B and B-B bonds are responsible for hardness enhancement in OsB2. In contrast, an in-plane electronic instability in IrB2 limits its strength. The electronic structure of deformed diborides suggests that the electronic instabilities of 5d orbitals are their origin of different bond deformation paths. Neither IrB2 nor OsB2 can be intrinsically superhard.

Recently, self-powered devices based on a p-n heterojunction were frequently reported, but there were few report about self-powered UV detectors based on single ZnO microwire/p-Si double *** to the common p-n junction type device with an n-type ZnO microwire/p-Si heterostructure, the newly designed device with double heterojunctions based on a single n-type ZnO microwire and a p-type Si film displaysed interesting electrical characteristics such as a high rectification ratio and a low turn-on *** zero bias, the fabricated device had a high photosensitivity of~3.17*103 under UV illumination and a fast response time less than ***,which was shorter than that of the device at forward bias (less than 0.2ms).

The biocompatibilityof the cellulose nanowhisker(CNW)fromcellulase hydrolysiswas evaluated in vitro for potential applications in drug delivery system. The assessments were comprised of cytotoxicity analysis and proliferation of human osteosarcoma MG-63 cellsthat were cultured with the resultant CNW. Some morphological and physico-chemicalcharacteristics ofthe CNW were investigated. Thecellulase hydrolysis conditions were optimized at acellulase dosage of0.01 mL/g dried fibers, a hydrolysis temperature of60 °C, hydrolysis time of 3 h and bamboo fiber concentration of 2 wt%.Under these conditions, the as-prepared CNWretained more properties similar to the original bamboo fibers than those fabricated by sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Indirect cytotoxicity test of the CNW revealed it non-toxicity to the cells. The proliferation of the MG-63 cells with the CNWfromcellulase hydrolysiswas better than that from sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Theseresultstogether with the fact that thecellulosehydrolysispreparation of CNW is simple and inexpensive make ita good candidate for thedesign of oral drug delivery device.

Two organic redox couples: tetrabutylammonium cation (McMT - TBA + )/disulfide dimer (BMT) and tetramethylammonium cation (McMT - TMA + )/BMT derived from 2-mercapto-5-methyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole (McMT) were introduced to the CdS quantum dots sensitized solar cells (QDSCs), compared with the one based on the inorganic sulfide electrolyte (Na 2 S/S).It was found that the charge transfer resistances at the interface of the organic sulfide electrolytes and the platinum counter electrode are much lower and the interface reaction rates are higher. QDSCs based on organic sulfide electrolytes exhibited high fill factors, open circuit photovoltages, and therefore higher conversion efficiency, thanks to the much larger recombination resistance. In addition, the effects of different cationic groups: TBA + , TMA + ,on charge recombination and transfer have been discussed. A highest efficiency of 6.3% was achieved for QDSCs using the electrolyte based on McMT - (TMA + )/BMT redox coupled with CdS quantum dots.

The solar spectrum covers a broad wavelength range, which requires that antireflection coating (ARC) is effective over a relatively wide wavelength range for more incident light coming into the cell. In this paper, we present two methods to measure the composite reflection of SiO2/ZnS double-layer ARC in the wavelength ranges of 300-870 nm (duaI- junction) and 300-1850 nm (triple-junction), under the solar spectrum AM0. In order to give sufficient consideration to the ARC coupled with the window layer and the dispersion effect of the refractive index of each layer, we use multidimensional matrix data for reliable simulation. A comparison between the results obtained from the weighted-average reflectance (WAR) method commonly used and that from the effective-average reflectance (EAR) method introduced here shows that the optimized ARC through minimizing the effective-average reflectance is convenient and available.
