Currently, video has becoming one of the most traffic-intense Internet applications. However, it also causes Internet transmission problems, such as congestion, high delay and bad user experience. Therefore, it is necessary to design a cache mechanism for some popular videos in advance. To address this problem, this paper designs an Internet application-driven algorithm for centralized cache placement of popular videos in software-defined information-centric networking. First, it designs a centralized control architecture and the cache controller and node working mechanism, and then this problem is formulated as an integer programming. Finally, it proposes a greedy algorithm based on a 0-1 multiple knapsack problem to solve the integer programming and sets a performance indicator to evaluate this algorithm. The result shows that the algorithm can achieve desirable performance. © 2017 IEEE.

Android is characterized as a complicated open source software stack created for a wide array of devices with different form of factors, whose latest release has over one hundred million lines of code. Such code is mainly developed with the Java language, which builds complicated logic and brings implicit information flows among components and the inner framework. By studying the source code of system service interfaces, we discovered an unknown type of code flaw, which is named uncaughtException flaw, caused by un-well implemented exceptions that could crash the system and be further vulnerable to system level Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. We found that exceptions are used to handle the errors and other exceptional events but sometimes they would kill some critical system services exceptionally. We designed and implemented ExHunter, a new tool for automatic detection of this uncaughtException flaw by dynamically reflecting service interfaces, continuously fuzzing parameters and verifying the running logs. On 11 new popular Android devices, ExHunter extracted 1045 system services, reflected 758 suspicious functions, discovered 132 uncaughtException flaws which are 0-day vulnerabilities that have never been known before and generated 275 system DoS attack exploitations. The results showed that: (1) almost every type of Android phone suffers from this flaw, (2) the flaws are different from phone by phone, and (3) all the vulnerabilities can be exploited by direct/indirect trapping. To mitigate uncaughtException flaws, we further developed ExCatcher to re-catch the exceptions. Finally, we informed four internationally renowned manufacturers and provided secure improvements in their commercial phones.

Adjuvants stimulate the immune system to vigorously respond to a vaccine. While current adjuvants such as aluminum salts and oil-in-water emulsions have been used for decades, they do not generate broad and long-lasting responses in many vaccines. Consequently, more potent adjuvants are needed. Here, using computer-aided molecule design and machine learning, we discovered 2 new, broad-spectrum adjuvants that can boost vaccine responses. Our library containing 46 toll-like receptor (TLR)-targeting agonist ligands were assembled on Au nanoparticles. Comprehensive in vitro , ex vivo and in vivo studies showed both leads promoted dendritic cell activation via multiple TLRs and enhanced antigen presentation to T cells. When used together with tumor-specific antigens to immunize mice against B16-OVA melanoma and 4T1-PD1 breast cancer, both adjuvants unleashed strong immune responses that suppressed tumor growth and lung metastases. Our results show computer-aided design and screening can rapidly uncover potent adjuvants for tackling waning immunity in current vaccines.

Cross-lingual Entity Alignment via Joint Attribute-Preserving Embedding

Entity alignment is the task of finding entities in two knowledge bases (KBs) that represent the same real-world object. When facing KBs in different natural languages, conventional cross-lingual entity alignment methods rely on machine translation to eliminate the language barriers. These approaches often suffer from the uneven quality of translations between languages. While recent embedding-based techniques encode entities and relationships in KBs and do not need machine translation for cross-lingual entity alignment, a significant number of attributes remain largely unexplored. In this paper, we propose a joint attribute-preserving embedding model for cross-lingual entity alignment. It jointly embeds the structures of two KBs into a unified vector space and further refines it by leveraging attribute correlations in the KBs. Our experimental results on real-world datasets show that this approach significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art embedding approaches for cross-lingual entity alignment and could be complemented with methods based on machine translation. Modeling and optimizing CPS software testing based on petri nets

software testing is an important means to ensure the quality of software. However, there is a lack of effective modeling and optimization of CPS software testing. In this paper, Petri nets are used to model the underlying devices, components, connectors and test cases of CPS software. Aspect oriented programming extracts the crosscutting concerns of CPS software testing. The behaviors and their relationships are described based on AOP, and a weaving mechanism is used to dynamically integrate these models into the test model of CPS. The correctness of the model is analyzed by using the operation semantics and related theories of Petri nets. Based on the state space of constructed model, a strategy is proposed to dynamically select the test suite. The experiment results show that this method can effectively describe the CPS software testing process, which can improve the quality of software testing. © 2017 Totem Publisher, Inc. SDN-based approach to generating and optimizing test path for cloud application

With the intensive and large-scale development of cloud computing, software testing has become one of the most important problems. How to evaluate and assess the testing process of a cloud computing system is a key to the deployment and use of it. This paper proposes a method to generate and optimize test paths of cloud application based on SDN, which separates the cloud service testing process from the underlying execution logic, thus improving the scalability of the testing process. The finite state machine (FSM) is used to establish the formal description language of the cloud application testing process, and is also used to model the basic elements, such as cloud services, jobs, test cases and cloud applications, and construct a test model for cloud application. The related theory of FSM is used to analyze the effectiveness and correctness of cloud application test model. Based on the actual mapping of the model, the generation method of test path is also given. In addition, we analyze the coverage of test cases and propose the test path optimization methods to improve the test efficiency. The specific examples and simulations show that this method can simplify the design and analysis of the cloud application testing process and effectively improve the generation of test paths. © 2017 Totem Publisher, Inc. Cloud has become a very popular infrastructure for many smart city applications. A growing number of smart city applications from all over the world are deployed on the clouds. However, node failure events from the cloud data center have negative impact on the performance of smart city applications. Survivable virtual machine placement has been proposed by the researchers to enhance the service reliability. Because of the ignorance of switch failure, current survivable virtual machine placement approaches cannot achieve the best effect. In this paper, we study to enhance the service reliability by designing a novel network failure–aware redundant virtual machine placement approach in a cloud data center. Firstly, we formulate the network failure–aware redundant virtual machine placement problem as an integer nonlinear programming problem and prove that the problem is NP-hard. Secondly, we propose a heuristic algorithm to solve the problem. Finally, extensive simulation results show the effectiveness of our algorithm. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

This paper describes a quantum programming environment, named Q∣SI〉 a. It is a platform embedded in *** language that supports quantum programming using a quantum extension of the while-language. The framework of the platform includes a compiler of the quantum while-language and a suite of tools for simulating quantum computation, optimizing quantum circuits, and analyzing and verifying quantum programs. Throughout the paper, using Q∣SI〉 to simulate quantum behaviors on classical platforms with a combination of components is demonstrated. The scalable framework allows the user to program customized functions on the platform. The compiler works as the core of Q∣SI〉 bridging the gap from quantum hardware to quantum software. The built-in decomposition algorithms enable the universal quantum computation on the present quantum hardware. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the ever-increasing volume of services registered in various web communities, it becomes a challenging task to find the web services that a target user is really interested in from the massive candidates. In this situation, Collaborative Filtering (i.e., CF) technique is introduced to alleviate the heavy burden on the service selection decisions of target users. However, present CF-based recommendation approaches often assume that the recommendation bases, i.e., historical service quality data are centralized, without considering the distributed service recommendation scenarios where data are multi-sourced. Furthermore, distributed service recommendation calls for the collaborations among multiple involved parties, during which the private information of users may be exposed. In view of these challenges, we propose a novel privacy-preserving distributed service recommendation approach based on two-phase Locality-Sensitive Hashing (LSH), named SerRectwo-LSH, in this paper. Concretely, in SerRectwo-LSH, we first look for the "similar friends" of a target user through a privacy-preserving two-phase LSH process;afterwards, we determine the services preferred by the "similar friends" of the target user, and then recommend them to the target user. Finally, through a set of experiments conducted on a real distributed service quality dataset WS-DREAM, we validate the feasibility of our proposal in terms of recommendation accuracy and efficiency while guaranteeing privacy-preservation. © 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.

Super-activating quantum memory with entanglement

Noiseless subsystems were proved to be an efficient and faithful approach to preserve fragile information against decoherence in quantum information processing and quantum computation. They were employed to design a general (hybrid) quantum memory cell model that can store both quantum and classical information. In this paper, we find an interesting new phenomenon that the purely classical memory cell can be super-activated to preserve quantum states, whereas the null memory cell can only be super-activated to encode classical information. Furthermore, necessary and sufficient conditions for this phenomenon are discovered so that the super-activation can be easily checked by examining certain eigenvalues of the quantum memory cell without computing the noiseless subsystems explicitly. In particular, it is found that entangled and separable stationary states are responsible for the super-activation of storing quantum and classical information, respectively.
